Ours is the Loo, Our grandchildren call it the toilet, generally it’s can I use your toilet nannie, when I was growing up my grandparents called it the lavatory and it was down the garden, it was one of my earliest memories I was around 4

Mines the loo too.

Loo. Always hated”toilet”, don’t know why.
Lavatory when we were kids.

I use the term: "Mr Godfrey needs a moment."

Have you ever seen old Mr Godfrey in Dad's Army? He's always saying, "Can I be excused," prostate pressure on the bladder.

Other than that it gets called the TC, meaning Thomas Crapper, inventer of the ballcock and 'U' bend.

Possibly the bog at one stage .....

TrendyNannie6 Mon 05-Oct-20 19:28:59

Yes and thinking about it my uncle used to call it the khazi many moons ago

phoenix Mon 05-Oct-20 19:29:27

Usually, "just going to the loo", although I'm sure neither Mr P or the cars really need to know blush

Lucca Mon 05-Oct-20 19:29:58

The cars Phoenix ?

TrendyNannie6 Mon 05-Oct-20 19:30:25

Always makes me laugh though when I hear the term, can I borrow your toilet, I want to say yes if you bring it straight back ?

phoenix Mon 05-Oct-20 19:30:52

But to add, if I'm doing a bit of "light domestic" I will usually say that I'm going to clean the downstairs toilet. confused

phoenix Mon 05-Oct-20 19:31:32

Damn! CATS, of course!

Nanny27 Mon 05-Oct-20 19:33:37

It's the loo in our house. My mother always called it the toilet but I never liked it. GC's tend to say toilet but unlike you trendienannie they never ask to use it. Just go in then come out leaving the light on and the hand towel on the floor!

Namsnanny Mon 05-Oct-20 19:40:39

It used to be the lav when I was growing up. I tend to say lavatory, if I have to say anything.

paddyanne Mon 05-Oct-20 19:45:25

it was the bathroom when we were wee, there only was one in the house. Now its the loo, hate the word Lavatory reminds me of an old Nun in high school who was very posh and refused to answer if someone stuck their hand up and asked to be excused to use the loo or toilet..she would have let us wet our pants rather than allow us out without saying Lavatory

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 05-Oct-20 19:50:47

Loo.

25Avalon Mon 05-Oct-20 19:52:04

My dad called it the fairies. We use loo. My grandchildren say bathroom, oh so modern and American...They live here, by the way

cornergran Mon 05-Oct-20 19:57:33
