Good Morning Everyone ,
Yet another dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out was interesting in the way as to what I saw shopping wise the Sainsburys had a mixture of Halloween and Christmas items on display and as to later its only October .
I did hear there could be a panic buy of Christmas Puddings thanks to latest government plans fear of lockdowns .
Take Care ,
Mick

As for panic buying of Christmas puds Mick the world has indeed gone mad
Laura Looks like you fell for Mick's little joke! grin

If butchers announced there was going to be a shortage of brains they would be inundated with panic buyers! hmm
Good Health

Sar53 sorry about your car. My DH parked his at work as normal about 6 wks ago. He works nights so didn’t notice until going out the next evening that his driver door was badly dented. Got manager to look at CCTV and after checking who was on duty in the yard found out whoodunnit! He hadn’t owned up or reported it. Company insurance covered the repairs but.... we have had a hire car , our car returned not properly repaired, a courtesy car and we still don’t have our car back! The wing mirror has been replaced 4 times before they discovered that there was a fault with them . Now awaiting a new batch ..... we may get our car back later this week.
The guy responsible has shown no interest, don’t know if he was disciplined ( he was shunting HGVs in yard!) hasnt even offered DH a beer! The inconvenience has been huge. I really hope you can identify your perpetrator!
Marydoll wish i lived next door!
Having a quiet day- i have started cystitis today. We were in Lidl earlier and I had to ask DH to get us home asap! You know that feeling....I have scarred kidneys so need to be careful.
Have a good rest of the day all!

Good afternoon from Durham. Physically fine, but with our lockdown here, it’s hard to get motivated and to do what?
Kindest regards to Annapops, Harrigran and Mrs Woo and all up here who read these posts. (Gilly?) My lovely SIL in Cheshire has a social life that’s mind boggling too - she and her friends are carrying on as usual - propping up the local economy, I suppose.
A couple of weeks ago DD2 witnessed a minor car shunt and gave the ‘innocent’ party her number in case of any problem (it was cut and dried). The woman has since text her to thank her and says they now have whiplash and hope to get a settlement before Christmas as it will be extra money to spend on ‘the bairn’ then followed by haha and a laughing emoji! DD1 is absolutely incensed but can’t do anything unless she’s contacted by their insurer, which seems unlikely. No wonder premiums are so high.

Think I’ll head into Durham to walk the riverbank and look at our Masterpiece of Norman Construction!!

Thank you LauraNorder (love the name!). He’s a bit bruised and battered but could have been a lot worse.

I love your sunroom Taichinan. So inviting and perfect for sunny winter days which still gives you the feeling of being outside but toasty warm inside.

Another late Good Morning to Mick, Annie, and all.

I had a very disturbed night, up with sickness. Feeling a bit better now, but a bit fragile. Can't think what caused it as DH and I ate the same, and he is fine.

I haven't had time to read all the postings, so will go back and have a quiet scroll through.

Best wishes to all and have a good day.

LauraNorder Sun 11-Oct-20 11:52:57

Hope Mr Owl is feeling okay, sounds like a nasty fall, boys will be boys.

LauraNorder Sun 11-Oct-20 11:50:55

Lovely patio set and flowers Taichinan, I like your front gate too.
Come on Annsixty we all eagerly await a progress report, hope you haven’t run away now that you can.

First morning in church since March .....it was lovely. Though not quite the same with social distancing, face masks and no hymns. Lovely day today in South West Wales. Best get the washing on the line. Have a good day all.

CherryCezzy Sun 11-Oct-20 11:39:43

A good late morning to you all from sunny breezy Gower.

I really ought to start posting earlier on a regular basis as by the time I read everyone's posts I have forgotten who has said what blush.
At least I've given myself time to manage to do the laundry and get it on the line this morning I suppose. Me and my WP have been singing those (adapted) lyrics again this morning "seizures in the night" ?.

So sorry to hear that your nephew has the virus Susan. I hope that he recovers quickly and none of the rest of the family end up infected ?

Lins ???

That happened to us some months ago in a car park Sar. The coward wasn't traced, I hope your detective work is successful and s/he owns up.

I didn't get the opportunity to say yesterday that I'm pleased that your op' went well Annsixty, but I am pleased for you ?

Wishing your DD a swift recovery Nanabanana.

Good news on the 'covid warrior' front Urmstongran ?
Pleased that you had a lovely day yesterday kitty and you too Nortsat and that your DGD (and the rest of the family) enjoyed her surprise birthday party MellowYellow ?

Have a good Sunday everyone, especially those of you that are going through difficult times. Stay safe ❤️

Marydoll Sun 11-Oct-20 11:38:04

Your garden looks lovely, Taichinan

Taichinan Sun 11-Oct-20 11:29:46

Mission accomplished! Much easier job than I remembered it!

Annapops Sun 11-Oct-20 11:01:01

Good morning all from a bright County Durham.

A sorting day today plus remembering what I need to add to next week's supermarket delivery.

A lovely surprise bunch of flowers was delivered by DD1 yesterday. It still doesn't seem right having to distance ourselves at the front door yet again, but it looks like this is going to be the way of things for some considerable time. My heart goes out to all of those people who risk losing their jobs at the moment. Just how will all of this end?

I'm in serious need of some fresh air today just to help me come to terms with whatever news tomorrow brings regarding further restrictions. I worry about DD2 in her school which has had its first infection, plus my GS1 away at university.

On a much more positive note DS house sale and purchase coming along well. A house with a garden at last! We are all delighted for him.

Have the best day you can all and stay safe.

Good Morning all from Sunny (but chilly) Harrogate. Can sympathise with your lockdown predicament all those north of the border. My friend in Ayrshire is desparate to see and cuddle her grandchildren in Wiltshire! Have a surplus of bananas, so will have to find out how to bake banana bread (which I have never done)!
Shall investigate the church service before lunch.
Mick, I shall have to make sure I have all the ingredients to make my own Christmas pudds and Christmas cake if shortage threatens.

Hope all are having the best day possible!

Taichinan Sun 11-Oct-20 10:48:02

Good morning Mick et al. Blue skies and sunshine on the Angus coast, but accompanied by a rather chilly stiff breeze. Oh well, it is October - and I love days like this. I have learned a lesson this morning. If you scroll up and down while writing your post that's fine. No problem. But if you then go to the next page - all is lost ??. Up to that point I was feeling so smug! Pride cometh and all that jazz.

I was so pleased to hear what a lovely time your little DGD had at her unexpected family birthday party MellowYellow. I bet her wee face was a picture when she saw that amazing cake! And Kitty, so glad you had a wonderful celebration of your golden wedding. Urmston so pleased that your family are well on their way to recovery. You can now expel that breath you've been holding for so long. I wish your DD a speedy recovery Nannabanana and it's lovely that you can be there for her in Chester. Also Elizabeth, glad to hear you had a better night and have woken full of the joys. I love your turns of phrase Marydoll. I can just picture the doghouse 4 sitting in their nortystep gyrating to jailhouse rock. Makes my day!

My day must involve bringing in the patio table and chairs to their winter home in the front sun room. The chairs are simple because they fold and it's in the back door and through the house to the front - a short journey. The table, on the other hand doesn't fold, and is too large to manoeuvre through the doorways in the house. (All of this I discovered after I bought it of course - although I would probably have bought it anyway because it was just what I was looking for.). So I have to upturn it and hold it over my head for the first part of its journey, carry it normally for a bit, manoeuvre it through the side gate, then along the front of the house to the front door where I at last wiggle it through into its winter home. Marathon complete!

There now, I've inspired myself to move! Have the best day you can everyone, and keeeeep smiling ???

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is bright but chilly.
A traumatic day yesterday as DH had a nasty trip and fall onto a concrete path. He was with DGS1 and apparently having a race whilst I was with DD watching DGS2 playing in his football match at the other end of the football club. DGS1 ran like the wind to fetch us, bless him. DH was obviously shocked and covered in blood and has a badly cut and swollen nose, cuts and bruises on knees, hands and elbows and a pulled muscle in his leg, but no lasting damage thankfully. I did point out that perhaps it’s not the best idea to indulge in racing our very active nine year old grandson whilst wearing walking boots on an uneven path! He had a good night’s sleep and said he has found the way to cure any difficulties in sleeping!
A quiet day today as a result whilst we all recover from the shock.
Glad to read that Annsixty is recovering from the operation and that Urmstongran’s family are on the mend. Best wishes to everyone with illnesses or worries. Stay safe

Grandmafrench Sun 11-Oct-20 10:41:24

Good Morning everyone from a brilliantly sunny and warm S of ??, where it’s blowing 65kph. It’s a double-peg-the-laundry day. Wishing you all an easy day, no stress, less worry (Lins and Susan) , calm recovery and positivity for all. Find that culprit, Sar. Everyone else, please find some fun in your day through company for lunch......and especially if there are matching plates! grin

Hugs and STAY SAFE ???

LauraNorder Sun 11-Oct-20 10:37:16

Got so engrossed in your news my coffee went cold, had to ring down for a fresh one.
Shame about your car Sars!that was very mean of the culprit to drive away, hope you get to the bottom of it.
Glad your Covid Warriors are continuing to improve Urm and that you can officially stand down.
Sounds as though you had a happy anniversary Kitty in spite of the lurking lurgy.
Admiration to all of you who are suffering pain, worry, ill health or trauma with such stoicism and wit as found here each morning.,
As for panic buying of Christmas puds Mick the world has indeed gone mad.
Happy day everyone.

hulahoop Sun 11-Oct-20 10:34:27

Parsley3 Sun 11-Oct-20 10:19:57

Good morning all from sunny Central Scotland. Just off to Flanders Moss for a bracing walk. Have a lovely Sunday everyone, especially those who have fallen from grace. ?

LauraNorder Sun 11-Oct-20 10:04:50

Good morning from cool but dry Anglesey, late again, haven’t even read through yet. Will be back when I’ve had my coffee, not quite awake yet.

Megs36 Sun 11-Oct-20 10:04:09

Rufus that takes me back, my dad and I used to religiously listen to theGoons every week on the ‘steam radio’ and then I would discuss it with friends the next day at work. Can you imagine that now. Min and Hen and all of them were so funny and really quite innocent fun.

Marydoll Sun 11-Oct-20 09:52:14

That's very kind of you to be concerned, Chewy. You know me too well.
Too many unpleasant falls happening at the moment on GN, included in that, those who have fallen from grace. sad

Kalu Sun 11-Oct-20 09:50:41

You’re welcome Baubles. Hope you find the colour you are after. ?

Marydoll Sun 11-Oct-20 09:42:03

Absolutely no problem Chewy. wink
