Good Morning Everyone ,
Yet another dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out was interesting in the way as to what I saw shopping wise the Sainsburys had a mixture of Halloween and Christmas items on display and as to later its only October .
I did hear there could be a panic buy of Christmas Puddings thanks to latest government plans fear of lockdowns .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from a chilly E Kent. Not opened the curtains yet, so don’t really know what is going on outside.
Mick, I’ve still got at least two Christmas puddings left from a foray to Lidl last year, so I’m ok. But, yes, it’s odd to see the festivals being so mixed.
Virtual church today, the possible gardening to make use of DS1’s muscle power before he leaves next Sunday.
Have a gentle day and stay safe.

Morning from south Cornwall where I haven't opened the curtains either. Thanks for the Christmas pudding warning Mick, will sort one soon.

Little birthday party was such fun yesterday especially as my granddaughter wasn't told it was happening. Oh, how she loved the surprise. Oh, we had such a good time, so much laughter. The adults enjoyed it as much as the kids.

Today I will make a coffee and then continue to find party popper residue in every nook and cranny.

The best of days to you all.

Morning Mick, morning All. From what I can see it’s dry in our corner of Somerset, sunshine forecast so will get on with the winter planting. Time with some of the family was great fun , especially as we didn’t have the inevitable chaos to sort grin. I missed your post yesterday urms, hope good news about your family. Special thoughts for all not posting, whatever the reason and of course those finding life difficult. Take care everyone.

a panic buy of Christmas Puddings
G'Day Mick. Things are really getting tough! sad
To-morrow, Oct 12th. is the 66th anniversary of Eddie Seagoon et al and "The Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler of Bexhill-On-Sea"
This was followed a year later by ""The International Christmas Pudding!"
You're probably too young to remember those. hmm
I believe they were both "virtual", but still relevant in the Covid era., and worth adding to the "Make people Laugh" thread. grin

Good Morning from a dry and bright Black Country.

Partner is off on a cycle ride today with his club. I will prepared tonights chicken dinner, make stuffing etc, then drive over to Mums. May meet DD and girls and have a walk with them on the Staffordshire railway walk.

Panic buying of Christmas Puddings?? Now I have heard it all smile Luckily we don't eat it, so no worries for us there.

Sounds like you all had a good time yesterday MellowYellow we need these episodes to brighten our days at the moment. Glad your GD enjoyed the surprise.

Wishing all a good Sunday, with special hugs for our gilly If you are reading this, we are all concerned about you.

Good morning all from a dry North Leicestershire.

Neighbours sd drinks this morning, roast beef and then a big sit down later.

Thank you all for your kind wishes yesterday for our wedding anniversary.

I started the day feeling a bit down as we would normally have had a big family get together and, obviously, that couldn't happen but we did have a visit from DD1, DS2, a cake, flowers galore, champagne and lots of lovely cards and messages.

I'd especially like to say a big thank to Topsy for her kind words.

Have a lovely day everyone and I'm thinking of all our missing members.

Sar53 Sun 11-Oct-20 07:45:15

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. Another cold day DH had better wrap up when he goes to rugby with his DGS's.
Yesterday morning we discovered that someone has gone into our car and damaged the front and side bumper. We are both upset as we've only had the car for 3 months. We have an idea who has done it and will be doing some detective work today, the red paint gives it away !!!
Roast chicken later, highlights of the Grand Prix to watch and the last episode of Us.
Have a very pleasant Sunday and stay safe everyone xx

Good Morning everyone from sunny Severnside. If I turn my head to the right the sun will make my eyes squint.

A lovely surprise for your GD Mellow.
I’ve just had a message from my daughter to say she’ll be coming this afternoon. She’s got someone coming to view her storage at mine stuff.

Let’s hope a good day for everyone and annsixty and urms family continue their recovery ?

brook2704 Sun 11-Oct-20 07:59:18

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but dry - at last!! I’m going to get out in the garden today generally cutting back and tidying up ready for the winter. There’s lots to do so I’d best get a move on soon ...
Hope your DD recovers well nanabanana it’s lovely that you’re able to help out at this time
I’d best get my Christmas puddings next time I’m at the shops as DH loves them ... thanks for the warning mick ?
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

dragonfly46 Sun 11-Oct-20 08:02:15

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Saying there is panic buying on Christmas puddings will inevitably lead to panic buying. Fortunately I don’t like them either. I did book my Christmas delivery from Ocado yesterday though which will mean no queuing in M&S.

Sorry to hear about your car Sar so annoying when that happens.

Pleased you had a lovely anniversary kitty.

Going walking today with a friend. DH doesn’t like long walks!

Thinking of absent friends.

Sark Sun 11-Oct-20 08:02:41

Good Morning everyone.
It is a lovely sunny morning in Oxfordshire
The trees are beautiful..I love Autumn so will go for a good walk later.
MellowYellow great to hear your GDD and all had such a happy day.
Sar it is so annoying when people don't have the courtesy to own up.
Kittylester congratulations for yesterday
Tea and toast just arrived, what a good man he is!
Have a good day and keep smiling ?

Pantglas2 Sun 11-Oct-20 08:05:39

Morning all this lovely Sunday in north Wales where I’m lolling abed with the chamberpot wot DH made!☕️ There’s a bacon ciabatta on its way as well? while I peruse your bizziness!

How horrible Sar that someone would bump your car without owning it! Hope you find the culprit and are recompensed.

Look forward to hearing that Annsixty is skipping around the ward and everyone else has a good day whatever they’re up to ?

Susan56 Sun 11-Oct-20 08:07:18

Good morning from Shropshire.Looks like it’s rained overnight but dry at the moment.

Our eldest daughters birthday today so will see them later.

Glad your little granddaughter enjoyed her birthday Mellow.

Our nephew has tested positive for Covid.Worrying as my sister in law is very vulnerable and he has also visited my mum so we are just hoping everyone will be alright.

Thinking of all our absent posters.Hope your recovery is going well Ann.

Special thoughts to gilly.x

Good morning Mick and all. A pink streaked sunrise here on the S Welsh coast. Not much sleep last night, a lot of worry in the family, when do you stop worrying.
We will go for a walk on the beach this afternoon. Stuffed chicken breasts for supper, that's about it here today.
Hope your family are ok Urmston and everyone else with illness and worries. Stay safe everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Oct-20 08:12:44

Good morning Mick and all from a bright, chilly S Hants. Today we are meeting DD, DS and the two DC for lunch, first time we’ve all been together since Christmas, probably be the last for a while too. They may come back for a garden sit afterwards, hot chocolate and chiminea.
Have a peaceful day all, particularly those missing.

Grammaretto Sun 11-Oct-20 08:16:41

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it is very cold but hopefully will brighten and warm up later.

A run on Christmas puddings! seriously? True the best ones get sold quickly. We should make our own.......

I'm glad you had a lovely time for your anniversary kitty
I know Nortsat had a wild and wonderful birthday party.
grin
I hope annsixty is recovering well and also Nanabanana's DD.

My big worry this week is the covid outbreak in the cancer ward where we go to oncology. I hope another place can be found for DH's treatment and of course I am terribly sad for the families affected.

Our DGC are nearby staying with their other DGP but we can't see them owing to the covid lockdown rules. I hope to get a glimpse tomorrow, over our masks..

DS1 left us a big bowl of porridge he made which is heating up now. The recipe from his Indian cookbook.

Have a happy Sunday everyone.

Beauregard Sun 11-Oct-20 08:17:40

Good morning from Derbyshire. Looks like being a nice dry day so I'll get out in the garden to do some tidying up and plant some more bulbs this morning. Later we'll have a walk to the veg garden to see if there are any courgettes, broccoli or beans to pick. I haven't been up for a few days as I've been away.

We must sort out the heating settings today as it's starting to feel a bit chilly. We haven't had the heating on so far, but our little grandson is visiting tomorrow and I want it to be warm for him.

Sar so upsetting about your car. Hope your detective work pays off.

Hope everyone is feeling well today. Have a good Sunday.

Greyduster Sun 11-Oct-20 08:17:50

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun graced South Yorkshire briefly but has now changed its mind. I hope it changes it back as we are watching junior footie this morning, and then DD et al are coming for a late roast dinner which we will make the most of as the city may be heading for lockdown shortly☹️. We will find out tomorrow apparently. There was the most amazing double rainbow yesterday before a cloudburst of epic proportions. Have a good safe Sunday, all.

Marydoll Sun 11-Oct-20 08:19:33

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, it's only 3° C, brrrrrrr!

Kitty, I'm glad your day went better than anticipated and Mellow yellow, the party went well.
We haven't been able to have anyone in homes for weeks, due to stricter restrictions. It's a bit of a downer, but absolutely necessary. Despite the stricter regulations, Covid numbers continue to rise.?
The reason, people are not doing what has been asked of them.

DD and SIl appeared with my prescriptions. While DD got her flu injection, armed with a list, SIL picked up the prescriptions.
As SIL had been assured they were all there, I didn't check immediately. You guessed, there were two lots missing, AGAIN!!!!
I spent half the afternoon phoning, only to find out they closed at 1pm. In living memory that pharmacy has never closed on a Saturday afternoon.?

They sat in the garden and demolished huge plates of Scoth broth, consumed a whole crusty loaf and finished off with Mars Bar cake and a cuppa.
I also slipped a Fakeaway meal in with their shopping. I tried out James Martin's buttermilk chicken recipe, which is a copy of Kentucky fried chicken.
In foil container, with the name written on it, it looked exactly like a takeaway delivery!?
It really lifted my spirits to see them.
Once it was dark, I continued my food delivery service by leaving gift bags of Mars Bar cake on my neighbours' doorsteps, as a surprise.
I was like a thief in the night, skulking in driveways.?

I'm also expecting DS2 and his fiancée today, as his phone packed up yesterday and a new one is being delivered here today, as there is no chance of us being out!!!?
It will be so nice to see them.
As he works in IT, we bombarded his work phone with jokey IT jokey comments on how to fix it. He was not amused at all!?

Hoping annsixty is making good progress and best wishes to your daughter nanabanal for a speedy recovery.?
Thinking as always of Gilly and * Bluesapphire*. Gilly hasn't been responding, but I don't want to keep hassling her.
As for the Doghouse4, they are still reading the posts and aware of all your good wishes.

The sun has now come out, so it will be the garden for me today. That can of spray paint may get an airing, since there is no wind, so project lamp stand may go ahead. ?️

Have a good Sunday!

Ashcombe Sun 11-Oct-20 08:23:38

Good morning to Mick & co!

Nanabanana1: we have much in common as I also live in Torbay and have a daughter in Cheshire! I hope you don’t find being nurse too exhausting and your daughter recovers well.

My church, which I can see from my flat, is open for services as it’s large enough for the congregation to socially distance but I must resign myself to just the online relay because of being in quarantine.

Happy Sunday to you all with special thoughts for those in pain of any kind today.

Urmstongran Sun 11-Oct-20 08:24:37

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s not sunny! ?

It will be later I daresay. The washer is on (using free electricity always a smug feeling ha!). No plans. Lovely.

Finished our book club read yesterday. A collection of whacky short stories - not my genre but I did read all 12. ‘Days of Awe’ by A.M.Holmes. I will send an email on my thoughts as I don’t do ‘Zoom’ from here, the WiFi isn’t strong enough (good as I’m not a fan anyway).

Our family of Covid warriors are so much better. Grandson totally and parents (just) breathless on exertion and tired but definitely on the mend. I can stand down now....
?

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. Shout out to you especially annsixty hope all’s well. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning All from a sunny, cold Polmont. It's a beautiful morning. I had two nice surprises yesterday. I received a box of beauty products courtesy of ds and his lovely partner. They signed me up so I get a box every month for a year. It is full of small samples of nice things. And in the afternoon, I heard the baby voice of dgs shouting for me as he stomped up my path with his mum, dd. He was so excited, it warmed my heart. Today I have nothing to do apart from roasting a chicken,so I'm going to potter about. A bit of sewing, a bit of painting and a bit of weeding. I'm loathe to put away the garden furniture and accessories as it leaves the garden bare and signals the onset of winter. I think I'll leave that for a couple of weeks yet. Have a good day all.
