Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire! Chilly, though. I slept like a top last night - have only been awake for ten minutes! Very unusual for me. Today I must try and get to grips with my new laptop. GS phoned last night to find out how I was getting on and when I told him I hadn’t even opened the lid, he was puzzled and rather disappointed! I told him I would have to spend at least a week poking it with a long stick before we formed any kind of meaningful relationship?!
Kitty! Wolfie, two already? Where does the time go? A very happy birthday to the little lad!???
We’ll have a walk later if it stays dry. Have a good safe day folks.

Auntiflo it is a Toshiba and a few years old. It's in the hall ready to go to the tip. Funny evening yesterday with no tv. I did watch Only Connect and University Challenge on my tablet and DH sat and read.

I turned the alarm off this morning and went back to sleep for another hour, woke up to find a lukewarm cup of tea beside the bed. DH had been up, washed, shaved, dressed etc, while I was still in the land of nod.

Sar53, sorry about your continuing woes. Your TV isn't a Panasonic, by any chance? We had two that did the sound and no picture thing, but luckily had them replaced under guarantee. The second one was not quite a year old, and we were told that the parts weren't being made.
EV, our DS1 was 57 yesterday, and I had to do the math to see if I was right, and yes I was. Oh dear.

Well, I'm off for a long hot shower, as my back is sore this morning, and I have volunteering this afternoon.

Good morning from the NE where we have torrential rain.
We have a delivery of restaurant food today, fillet steak and other meats, starters and side dishes. We have also ordered French yogurts and pain au raisin for breakfasts.
DD has sent DH a text to tell us to expect a bouquet delivery, nearly a year since I last saw her.
Sister spent 15 minutes on our front drive yesterday huddled under an umbrella, she had been to the hairdressers.
Bad night, both with various pains and discomfort.

Urm I framed a small print of ‘don’t be the girl on the right’ for DD2 as that is her to a T. She has hung it with pride in her hall. ?. I have a photo of her and her ballet class of 4yr olds, DD2 is the one on the right with a huge sticking plaster on her knee!

Grammaretto you're right about the frost. But we could see from the top it was a biggie so just had to dig him up. There are many more left for after the frosts. Wasn't expecting it to have fanged into two legs though!

I feel very lucky that we still have them, they are very special.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is not a good morning at all. Lashing with wind and rain.
I don't find the Lockdown too hard as long as I can still go for walks, see my DC and DGC on zoom and whatsapp and very occasionally in reality.
I looked after the 2 youngest yesterday for a couple of hours which was a real tonic.
I liked your poem Ashcombe though had to wake up to understand the context
I liked your naughty parsnip Beauregard I was told parsnips taste even better once they have been out in the frost so not to harvest until then. Won't be long now...

I am very glad you had a successful "shopping" trip Marydoll and news of Gilly.
I am supposed to be having a roof repair estimate today. No chance in this weather.

Good Morning from Durham. Grey and wet here this morning. I suppose we have good news, downgraded to Tier 2, so we can now meet up in a private garden (I ? think) and not just a pub/cafe garden?
Hope to see DD1 and DGS today, but if SIL isn’t at work that won’t happen as he’s ultra cautious. DD2 wants us to have her dogs for the rest of the week as her builders are now working inside, so hope the weather improves. Older dog is no bother, but youngster’s mental! I’ll need eyes in the back of my head and I’ll be confined to barracks too. Could take older dog out, but can’t trust DH to look after puppy.

I have a couple of hours work to do this afternoon. Will have a walk this morning.
I am still on the long, tedious journey of trying to pay the tax charge that HMRC tell me I owe them.
When you include the unbelievable incompetence of some of their staff and the complicated number of different websites for different parts of the process, it’s a real tedious pain in the b*m.

I plan to make hamburgers and potato wedges for supper tonight.

It's a beautiful, bright morning, but chilly here in South Yorkshire - we need something to cheer us a bit as yesterday's news means we are going into tier 2 from tomorrow, so no meeting anyone indoors safely distanced until further notice. We can sit in the garden, but honestly, in the winter months that's not going to happen. I really think we are in for a tough few months. Still, must try to remain positive, though it's hard.

Love the parsnip, Beauregard and agree with your conclusion ??.

I've got to pop out later and deliver my nieces birthday card. The walk will do me good.

Brightening up outside but looking damp everywhere though it doesn't feel too cold as yet. No heating on until the evenings up to now.

Nothing much needed in the way of groceries after a large shop last week, but won't be going far that's for sure as it's quite concerning in this area. We've got that eerie silence again with no sound of local vehicles or schoolchildren for that matter.

We're not as built-up here as everyone in Liverpool and we have the river and the tunnel separating us from the city so I'm hoping the virus keeps its distance.

The lazy old Tom cat hasn't surfaced from his kennel yet. He usually has his face pressed up to the patio door ready for his breakfast. He is still breathing because I peeped out and saw his whiskers twitch --just making sure because he's old.

Should be doing some cupboard sorting really while the bin's empty. I might shock myself yet. Ironing first though.

Just looking at my flowers from 10 days ago, they're still beautiful ! A vase full of roses are still as fresh as they first were and mixed ones have all opened and are holding up fine, so many lovely colours, so cheery.

Oh, here's the sun-----and I can see a cobweb hahaha.

I'll give D a ring later to see how she's getting on. I worry about her at work with her job being hands-on with people so I'll encourage her to get a flu-jab as it'll be some protection at least. She'll be 57 in December---other D will be 60 in January, dear me. It just makes me want to laugh having " old " daughters. Can't believe it really.

Crumpets are calling and hot chocolate too which I look forward to every morning. Pea soup for later today so that'll be me sorted.

Good morning all from a grey Glasgow, we have day of mixed weather predicted.

I had a busy day yesterday. Fortunately much to my relief, when I got to the pharmacy, it was totally empty with no queues, and the missing prescriptions were found in a separate bag. A wee chat and catch up with the staff, lightened my spirits.

DH lasted only five minutes at the golf, in fact he didn't even start.. As he went out the heavens opened, so he and his golfing partner decided they didn't want to get wet! Wimps!!?

He offered to come with me, but I was craving time to myself!
As usual I had a plan.
A new huge Home Bargains had opened near the surgery and I was itching to go. On my own of course. DH would have been in and out in five minutes and cramped my style.
It was really quite and an Aladdin's cave of stuff! I picked up all the things like soap and toothpaste, which I are so much less expensive than Tesco.
There was a huge stash off Hallowe'en stuff, so I picked up items to make goodie bags for my wee granddaughter and my neighbours' grandchildren. I was well pleased with myself, quite smug in fact!? It was one less thing to worry about.

That was until I got to the checkout. Oh how I wished DH had been there. The realisation that I was going to struggle to lift everything including two bags of logs onto the conveyor belt, hit me!?
What a fool I was! I had got carried away with my taste of freedom!!?That's DHs job to unpack trolleys!!!!?
He was not amused when I came back. Away too long and lifting heavy items. My independence means a lot to me and recently I lost that, due to shielding. ☹️

Urmonston, Gilly, told me she was taking a break from GN , as she felt that she had a lot to deal with at present and didn't want to bring negativity to this gentle forum.
I feel that is all I can say. Perhaps, it's best we don't speculate, just hope she comes back soon.
She withdraws now and again, but always comes back.
Let's all keep her in our thoughts and continue to hope things improve.

Good morning from Derbyshire. Blue sky at the moment but rain coming in later.

Mr B tried to start our central heating yesterday but something's not right and it hasn't come on this morning, so I'm sitting with a blanket over my legs.

I've got to pop out to the agricultural merchants soon as one of the horses broke out of the stable as the door bolt needs replacing. Hope they have some, otherwise it's a further journey to a DIY store.

We harvested our first parsnip yesterday. I thought I'd include a photo as there are no "funniest veg" competitions happening at the moment. It's a foot long and definitely male! I thought it might raise a titter on a gloomy day.

Our car has a service and its first MOT this morning. Hopefully some fresh fish for supper, I'll see what the fishmonger has on his van today.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it is dry at the moment. We are still deliberating where or whether to take the camper for a few days before the clocks change. DH really fancies Norfolk but it’s a long way and would mean an overnight stop both there and back as well as 2 or 3 nights there to justify the distance. Can the weather be kind for that length of time at the moment?
I bought trays of pansies yesterday for a couple of people we garden for. They will need planting but not today as rain is forecast again.

Good morning all from a darkish Essex. It’s not raining though. Makes a change!

Went to my chiming class yesterday , only 6 of us. The manager of the hall said we can have up to 12 as it’s big enough and well kept, covid wise! I really dont understand these rules!!!!!

Little pooch is off to the groomers soon, she trembles as she goes in. But she looks and smells lovely when she comes out.?.

I think we’re all feeling like you do Granmattie. The first time round was a bit of a novelty and we enjoyed the slower pace of life. But it’s now getting tedious.

GD1 messaged me saying she’s so bored in her Uni isolation. I popped to Asda and picked up a variety of little gifts to send her. I’ve boxed them up and live in hope that she receives them. ?. First time away from home , it’s not what she worked so hard for. I’d love to go and scoop her up and bring her home to the bosom if her family. ♥️

Hope your TV works out well for you Sar. In these times, we need a bit of on screen distraction and entertainment.
