Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry outside , my usual trip out today on the buses, and say hello to those I have got to know .
It will Buckingham ,and then Bicester have a coffee and a snack there in cafe at the back of the bakery shop , then browse in Sainsburys before getting direct bus home .
This afternoon the Giro continues on Eurosport and watch the drama unfold.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from dawning E Kent. It’s raining now and we’re in for a wet day.
Goodness, Mick, it sounds like you’ll have a nice day with your snack and the Giro. Will you get a pulled pork bap?
Nothing today - T’ai Chi And supermarket. This isolation and seeing no one/doing nothing lark is starting to get to me. Does nothing for my mental health.
Hope today brings comfort to those in need. Stay safe.

Ashcombe Tue 13-Oct-20 06:22:33

Good morning, Mick and anyone else awake at silly o'clock!

It’s been a wet night here in Torbay but looks to be drying up now.

Following the ballerina poster fracas, I thought this was rather clever:-

Fatima
by Steve Pottinger

Fatima’s working in cyber
she’s learned how to snoop and to hack
she’s talented, driven, and passionate
her revenge a cold feast, not a snack

Rishi’s bank account there on a spreadsheet
a few clicks of the keys, and… goodbye
Hancock’s now being sought on charges of fraud
Gove for intent to supply

Cummings just never existed
his records amended, deleted
Johnson pursued for child maintenance payments
left penniless, bankrupt, defeated

Rees-Mogg’s found his place in a workhouse
learning to do what he’s told
and a freighter crawls to St Helena
with Priti Patel in the hold

Yes, Fatima’s working in cyber
she’s smart, and she seizes her chances
at the end of the day, puts her laptop away
picks her shoes up
....and smiles as she dances.

Good Morning everyone from a very dark Severnside. The forecast for today is more of that wet stuff ?

It won’t do anything for me either grandMattie so I’ve got to find something to do. Luckily I like my crafting and I must make more effort with it.
Yesterday while stalking the internet I found my street name was unique to the uk.

Have the best day you can all and see you soon doghousers ?

Urmstongran Tue 13-Oct-20 06:37:20

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s dark and there are stars in the sky. I’m awake early but as I went to bed at 11pm I’ve still had 8 hours sleep. Made myself a cuppa and am sitting on the balcony in a cardigan until the sun comes up! Himself is still snoozing.

Tuesday = my Ladies Who Wine afternoon ??

I don’t know what you refer to Ashcombe probably for the best!

Hope Tuesday is good to us all. Especially those in my Manchester area. This is such a worry again isn’t it? The figures there are 5x what they are out here on the Costa del Sol. We must be mad coming home next month. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Ashcombe Tue 13-Oct-20 06:43:45

For Urmstongran

This poster was issued yesterday as part of the government’s campaign to encourage those without employment in the Arts to pursue a different career. The unfavourable response caused it to be withdrawn.

Naturally, it has spawned all manner of responses!

mumofmadboys Tue 13-Oct-20 06:45:43

Good morning all! Dry here in Cumbria but still dark.Waiting for daylight to go out on my morning cycle ride. Sitting with someone with dementia this afternoon for a few hours while his wife goes to town. Don't know him very well but sure it will be fine. My dear dad had dementia the last few years of his life. Bridge match tonight online. I have loved all the online bridge during lockdown. Have a good day all especially TOYA with worries/ illnesses.

Urmstongran Tue 13-Oct-20 06:52:36

Ah! Thank you for the explanation Ashcombe the poem makes sense now. It is very clever!

Depressing though it must be with the Arts in a trough, Rishi Sunak did say at the outset he couldn’t promise to save all jobs for everyone. Ballet dancers have utility bills to pay. Sicking rigidly to what isn’t paying them isn’t going to ‘butter any parsnips’.

Urmstongran Tue 13-Oct-20 06:53:12

*sticking

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the rain has returned and I can hear it dripping outside my bedroom window. I’m awake early as yesterday I had such an early night after looking after two lively but lovely DGC all day as it’s half term holiday here ?
Today DD2 is off work so I’ve got a day to myself before looking after them again tomorrow. I love seeing them and I’m lucky that I can so I’m definitely not complaining!
I missed all the news yesterday but hope everyone is doing ok, especially those with worries and struggles and anyone facing further lockdown restrictions. It’s so tough but we will get through it eventually. Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning everyone. It's dark and drizzly in the Gower this morning.

I haven't slept very much, very draining. Not feeling like my usual self as I've had a lot more nighttime seizures than usual. If I hadn't had to take sedating medication I'd be wanting some sort of sedative ? I think I'm going to have to try to get some more sleep because I'm boring myself and most likely the GNs too.

A cafe at the back of a bakery sounds nice Mick, if it's anything like the one we have in the village ☺️

I'm sure it is getting you down grandMattie. Sometimes it can be nice to have time alone but not when it's "enforced" ? for you.

Ashcombe getting all political this early, politics aside it is funny in an odd sort of way.

Not a lot on today except a visit to the supermarket and my group quiz later. I'll excuse myself after sorting the kitchen diner yesterday ?.

Annsixty I hear that you are back home after your op'. Pleased to hear it. Follow those exercises and you'll be marching on.

Have the best day you can everyone, be kind to yourselves ❤️

Morning! From wet Western Isles
Love the poem, Ashcombe, not surprised poster withdrawn, tactless to say the least. Stay safe everyone

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Dry and cold out, I will need my coat to walk the pooch this morning. We decided a month ago to stop taking my dog to the factory in case it was that making her itch, well I think we could have been right, she has been off her tablets for two weeks and rarely itches, I am a veterinarian genius?
My coldsores are drying a little now and I am not quite as miserable as I was yesterday, I still have this cold but I am on the mend, good news for everyone around me as I am a bit of a moaner!! I was supposed to be taking my DFiL to the hospital tomorrow but I don’t want to spread my cold to him and the home so he will have to pay a member of staff to take him.
I would love to know that Gilly is ok just a quick post would be great. I wonder what is going to happen to the Doghouse4 part of me wants to say something controversial to see how far we have to go before we are put in the doghouse, just think if we all get put in there, GNHQ will have no one to police and we can set up our own forum, full of naughty people?
Give yourself a pat on the back for something you do well today, be grateful we are still here and thankful for small things, and above all smile at each other, even if they can’t see it behind that mask!!

Urmstongran Tue 13-Oct-20 07:03:12

Actually I think you’re right CC about political views on Mick’s thread. I apologise for putting in my two pennorth. Nicer perhaps to keep this gentle thread apolitical? x

grandMattie Tue 13-Oct-20 07:03:37

Although married, we spend a lot of time alone not being terribly sociable. But, it is nice to meet the odd person for coffee or lunch, go to my craft groups or W. I,, or whatever. It’s the enforced isolation which is getting to me.
I do a lot of crafts. Don’t see much of the family as they live too far, too busy to visit but don’t want us to take the train for fear of infection.
I KNOW I am very blessed being in full possession of my marbles and in rude health, but....

Sar53 Tue 13-Oct-20 07:20:07

Good morning everyone from a grey Essex by the sea. Heating has just come on so it must be chilly out there.
Well after the car debacle our television decided to stop working yesterday. We had sound but no picture. Lots of plugging and unplugging but no joy. We've ordered a new one to pick up today. Wondering now what the third thing will be.
DH was not feeling too good yesterday and when he's ill he's grumpy. I'm hoping he's feeling better today.
Have the best Tuesday you can and stay safe out there xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Oct-20 07:28:15

Good morning Mick and all

Definitely grey here, Sar53 , we have baby GS today and his brother after school and overnight (the 5 yr old likes some time with Grandma and Grandpa without his brother)

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

kittylester Tue 13-Oct-20 07:39:52

Morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire. I've just heard sirens hurtling along the high street. Hope everyone is ok.

We have a man coming to look at the flat bit of roof this morning with a view to putting a rubber layer on. If that works we can get the hall done - which means we need to choose paper and colours. Oh the stress!!

This afternoon we are off to see the wondrous Wolfie who is 2 today!! Cant wait to see him and his brother and sister and his mum.

I'd love to hear from our gilly too.

Grandmabatty Tue 13-Oct-20 07:42:41

Good morning All. It's a wet and cold one in Polmont. Rerun of yesterday really. It's a school holiday here and my wee street is very quiet as the few children that live in it appear to have gone away on holiday. I will be toddler sitting again so more puddle splashing, dancing to toy story and playing with cars. Chicken curry for tea, if I make it. Have a good day all.

Urmstongran Tue 13-Oct-20 07:49:02

I’m beginning to wonder if gillybob has actually decided to leave GN altogether.
?

GrandmaFrench your posts in the last couple of days are so short. Not like you at all. I hope all is okay over there? I’m missing all the lovely details of your French life!

cornergran Tue 13-Oct-20 07:50:58

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly, gloomy corner of Somerset. One of those mornings when the weather hasn’t yet decided how to be. Some (boring) admin this morning, no idea what else, a wait and see day. Hope resilience returns soon grandMattie, a hug for anyone with a heavy heart this morning. Take care, it’s an odd world out there.

MellowYellow Tue 13-Oct-20 07:52:33

Morning all from a wet south Cornwall. A first for me yesterday, I watched the mountain biking championships in Austria (on the TV I hasten to add). The mud!!!!! It was glorious. It's so unlike me to watch any sort of sport but you've inspired me by your cycling fascination Mick. Thank you, it was fun, I forgot about the virus for an hour or so.

Today I'll pop, no I'll hobble, over to the outdoor Farmer's Market and thence to the library and Wilko for more paracetamol. Crazy life I lead!!!! No small children till Saturday and Sunday when I'll be invaded because their mum and dad are moving house that weekend.

GrandMattie, mutter and sputter away. There's no point any of us pretending things are ok. I feel for you. Have the best day you can everyone.

Pantglas2 Tue 13-Oct-20 07:53:22

Morning all from a dry north Wales where I need to get a move on as I’m going to work?! Off to help out in DDs office.....hope she understands it’s been a while!

Will catch up with all your bizziness later - hopefully no more politicking on this lovely thread - I really couldn’t ? it!

GrannySomerset Tue 13-Oct-20 08:03:18

Up and about quite early as we have the man coming to finish the utility room roof, wonderful cleaner and the chiropodist, all due at 9.00 am. The excitement is almost unbearable.

Yesterday’s news was unsurprising but depressing and heralds a dismal autumn. Quite hard to feel positive but we will have to try. Just not sure how.

Pittcity Tue 13-Oct-20 08:07:01

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Not raining yet.
Out early for a blood test before my day volunteering at the Air ambulance charity shop. I absorb far too much hand gel on a Tuesday!
