Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but looking dry and cold out there in Brackley this morning.
Anyway , my trip out yesterday saw some interesting things in the way people are shopping , there seems to a demand on artificial xmas trees plus xmas puds seem also to be in demand .
Today ,apart from watching cycling on TV later, I need to sort out my frost free fridge freezer as to water in base of fridge anyway have located the hole at back of the fridge part , so will use something once shelving has been removed , to plunge the whole and try and free up a blockage to allow water to drain out back of fridge freezer .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good afternoon everyone from sunny Gower.

I've bypassed morning and gone straight to lunch blush
I'm sitting here drinking a cold cup of coffee I've discovered by the side of the bed, don't know how it got there and even though it's cold I'm glad it was there!

I want to thank all the GN's who showed me such kindness in their concern yesterday, it is very much appreciated ?

Since I've bypassed morning I haven't had the lovely opportunity to read anyone's posts yet so I hope you are all okay. I did "clock" that it's Harrigran's anniversary, if I'm not mistaken, and I wish you and your DH a Happy Anniversary ?? ?

Marydoll if there was any confusion (I was very tired) from the post I made yesterday evening I hope I can clear it up. I'll say this - it would be easy ? to say, respond and give a piece of my mind in response to the poster who send you a vastly inaccurate, callous and inaccurate pm that would certainly have led to the doghouse!

Please take care and stay safe everyone. Cwtches from Wales to everyone who needs one ❤️

A very late good morning from Newcastle- it was quite bright and sunny earlier but has now gone cloudy.
Had a mixed day yesterday. Weighed in at Slimming World to discover I'd gained weight for the first time in months. Later on I received the results from my latest blood test and I am no longer pre-diabetic. Woo hoo! Obviously, I need to still be careful and keep watching my weight and exercising.

kitty what a lovely gift from your son.
annapops you must be so proud of your talented GD. I've followed the Ballet West saga with interest as I once lived nearby, in Oban. I am so glad things have worked out so well for her.
sheepandcattle I dont know much about farming but I found your post fascinating. I've been watching Our Yorkshire Farm on telly and am in awe - what an incredible way of life.

EllanVannin Wed 14-Oct-20 11:53:47

Hahahaha, Sheepandcattle, it sounds more like a family of baboons with their rainbow bums, than ewes etc.

Good Morning All x
A lovely sunny Costa Mersey today after yesterday's hanging cloud. It does perk one up a bit and I need perking up after the miserable news. It's so quiet I can hear myself breathing.

Oh blimey, I've just finished a phone-call and can't believe my own patience grin inside, I was hopping mad. I only rang my newspaper company to tell them that the driver was delivering to the wrong address and it was no wonder !
Whenever I repeated my address---about 6 times in all, the one at the other end kept quoting the wrong one and I had to keep correcting her. Gee whiz, what's wrong with people ?? I'll have to have a lie down grin

That's really set me up for the day, gormless dozy folk. I wanted to tell her that I had one nerve left and she was getting on it !

Anyway, after that little debacle I've made myself a coffee and won't be doing much else today, apart from giving my D a ring.

Pea soup went down a treat yesterday and the last of the chicken for a couple of sandwiches and some bits for the cats. Today it's a lamb steak and cauli with creamed potatoes. It doesn't look as though my mint will stretch to a drop of mint sauce as it's fizzling out now with new growth ready for next year. No mint jelly either.

A squirrel's just darted away with a whole Hobnob in its mouth. I've run out of peanuts so the oaty biscuits are the next best thing which they seem to enjoy. I'd need to buy a sack of peanuts for the 4 visitors.

Where's the morning gone ? I haven't even had chance to read all the posts so I hope everyone's well. Keep safe and no mooching where there are crowds no matter how tempting.
Thinking of our missing friends. xx flowers

Grandmafrench Wed 14-Oct-20 11:32:06

Good Morning everyone from a sunny but chillier today South of France. Late again as things/DS conspire with early conversations to "waste my time" on the 'phone, she says unconvincingly....grin

How lovely to keep seeing new posters. Sheepandcattle - you'll probably be referred to as Sheepan very soon - I actually felt a little thrill of excitement when you mentioned your ewes. What are they? Some of us on this thread have owned sheep - mine were just adorable and much-loved lawn mowers but I can remember the thrill of lambing and the whole start to a new season in the countryside. Magical. (Very hard work for you, I suspect...not the Disney version at all!). Good to have you here, Bassgrammy and Namsnanny. Lurking's no good - you just have to get in there and join in. Much better for the rest of us!

Was going to talk Turkey today, but will save that for tomorrow now. Today will start clearing our study and cleaning and putting back endless books and papers and giving the shredder a big workout, after the installation of monitor etc., and lots of wiring for our security cameras. They are fun - hopefully all we will ever need them for is to see who is ringing our gate bell and which dog is chasing which cat; which is always denied once they are questioned later! It will be useful keeping an eye on things if/when we ever get to go away again. Remember that, everyone? The GODs - good old days - when we could do what we liked and go where we liked.

I'm refusing to join in your naughty Scottish sweetie making posts, Marydoll. I'm not happy being on a diet, but since it's working, I shall have to skip over yet another curve-enhancing kitchen recipe, thanks all the same grin. But once I am down to my fighting weight, look out. I shall then be back in control and plan to have the odd day when I can go mad and not worry.

Have the happiest of Anniversaries, harrigran. Make it a good day! What a lovely sentimental thought from your DS, kitty. Something special to treasure - I should have been in floods! Super news from your little Dancing Queen, Annapops and nice to have some good news in bad times!

M. Macron will be speaking to us about our next few months this evening. Wonder how long it will be before some really good news comes out about this rotten pandemic. Nobody's holding their breath on that one, although the infection numbers here were going down recently - 27,000, 16,000, 7000,....then up yesterday to 13,000. What can we do? Nuffink, probably - so we must just be glad we're keeping well and be determined to STAY SAFE and away from risky places.

Have a good day all, take good care of yourselves, find something to laugh at whilst you skulk about in your masks.

Hugs as always from French France !

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 14-Oct-20 11:23:34

Marydoll some of the best recipes are a honfu' o this and a honfu' of that!

Sounds delicious, but since DH wont eat coconut I would have to eat it all myself. Am presently struggling to find my waistline! So i'll bow out of your recipe!

Jaxjacky Wed 14-Oct-20 11:21:43

Well that’s the dentist done, phew! Next...
Congratulations to your GD Annapops what an achievement!
Welcome back to those who were ‘on a break’

hollysteers Wed 14-Oct-20 11:15:27

Good morning everyone and a sunny day! I have to clear out my holiday flat for photos to sell and am putting off the dreaded hour. It’s like a mobile library and all its faults are screaming at me. I will put a big bunch of flowers on the table, light it nicely and hope for the best. At least in this Covid situation it has given me something definite to do rather than pottering about...
If I get organised, I can take a walk across the fields to the village shop for something I don’t need. Oh they also have books for sake for charity!?

Imaginethis Wed 14-Oct-20 11:15:09

Good morning all.

First time poster here. Can I join in, please?

I was up bright and early ( well, early) to see the most wonderful view of a crescent moon and Venus from here on the edges of south London. Unfortunately photo on IPhone didn’t do it justice.

Have a good day everyone

grandMattie Wed 14-Oct-20 11:13:55

Thanks for recipe, Marydoll, I’ll try them next time I’m near a cooker. (Closer to sewing machine at the mo).
Has any one tried to toast coconut in microwave? If I don’t want to put the oven on, I use that. Very careful though, it burns very easily.

ann678tifney Wed 14-Oct-20 11:11:03

Good morning everyone from a dry NE, not sure for how long. Also a lurker, although I have posted from time to time. DH is still having problems with leg ulcers, and they have got worse, he finally got an appointment with the consultant last week, and it was agreed to get the district nurse to come in and dress them for him, to save him having to go out twice a week. What a palavar changing over, one nurse came, and wasn't qualified to do the dressing, another one came and said we had the wrong dressings? she also said they would be only be dressed twice a week, although the consultant wants them doing 3 times a week, she didn't come yesterday, and I had to ring her, she still hasn't got the correct dressing, but is hopeful she will have them today and come and change them. He has had the ones on for a week now, so they really need changing as they are bothering him. My DH doesn't do waiting around very well, and as they can't give times he will get stressed waiting for her to come. Hopefully it will be all sorted today, best wishes to everyone and hope everyone is keeping well.

Bellasnana Wed 14-Oct-20 11:05:56

Good morning from Malta where it’s actually approaching afternoon! I’m late today. My word, it’s busy in here this morning! Welcome to all new posters, it’s lovely reading what others are doing, especially now when life has become so limited.

It is a lovely sunny day here, the predicted week of bad weather has not materialised so far.

I went out yesterday as I realised my car had been sitting there for two weeks without moving. I walk everywhere as I just shop locally at the moment. Anyway, decided I needed a bigger rug for the living room. With winter approaching, the tiled floors can feel chilly. I found what I wanted and the dog is loving it!

Everyone here is abiding by the rules very well, wearing masks and keeping their distance. The numbers are still going up though. It’s very depressing.

I’ve done my exercises, now I think I will go up to M & S food to see if they’ve got any nice biscuits. I like to have something in for when DD3 pops round.

Hope you all have the best day possible.☀️

Marydoll Wed 14-Oct-20 10:57:07

Gramamretto, I'm using last night's tatties. Just about to start making the sweeties.

I have to own up to not really following my own advice. I chuck the potato with some vanilla extract in my food processor and just keep adding icing sugar until I get a fondant consistency.
It's just, a bit of this and a bit of that. Always works!

Do be warned when toasting the coconut. I set the grill of my new cooker on fire recently!!!

Namsnanny Wed 14-Oct-20 10:54:50

back

Namsnanny Wed 14-Oct-20 10:54:10

Another lurker, a very Good Morning Mick and everyone.
That system at the bad of the freezer is a night mare isnt it Mick?
Left us with an awful smell until we sorted it! hmm

Sun out lovely.

Didnt get to see Mars last night as it was too cloudy here. Did anyone?

I love the Macaroon/potato recipe, Thank you Marydoll

Dog sitting here too. Lots of licks and hairy cuddles, they're such a joy. I'm glad I dont have to walk them everyday though, they have endless energy!smile

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 14-Oct-20 10:50:37

Good Morning from Sunny Harrogate, I await a doctors telephone call, am hoping to find out if my breathing can be improved or is it as good as it gets!
What lovely news about your GD1, Annapops.
I have a wash on, so hope DH will hang it out before the rain starts. DH likes to hang it scientifically, I like to hang it so if it rains I can bring it in quickly!

Hope all are looking after themselves and keeping safe!

Grammaretto Wed 14-Oct-20 10:48:32

Good morning everyone from dreich Scotland, Border country.
I'm expecting a roofer to give us a quote today for repairs. At least he'll be able to see where the rain is getting in. grin
How wonderful Annapops about your DGD! Good luck to her for the future.
I do admire those who follow their passion and not just good old common sense.

Can I used last night's leftover boiled tattie Marydoll? your recipe sounds scrummie.

Welcome to sheepandcattle and any other Newbies I have missed. If you get up late,(moi) everything takes longer including reading the GM thread.

LauraNorder Wed 14-Oct-20 10:38:09

Sorry sheepandcattle, got your name wrong. Your post was really interesting and I look forward to more of the same.

Mapleleaf Wed 14-Oct-20 10:34:24

Good morning,

It’s a bright, sunny morning so far and not as cold as I thought - I put my thicker coat on to go and deliver a birthday card and came back sweltering! A big improvement on yesterday, which started out sunny but soon deteriorated into heavy rain. Typical, as I had put some washing out and had to quickly gather it back in again and dry it indoors.

Well done to your GD annapops. You must be thrilled for her.

Welcome to our two new posters today. This is a lovely thread, I think you will enjoy contributing.

Thoughts to those who are still not posting. ?

Take care everyone.

LauraNorder Wed 14-Oct-20 10:33:13

Good morning Mick and all from dry and still Anglesey. I would like to second Marydoll’s thanks to Mick for this lovely gentle thread every morning.
Welcome to Bassgrammy and sheepandcows.
Well done to your granddaughter Annapops, you must be very proud.
Lovely to read about everybody’s family and the kind and pleasant gestures.
Our builders have gone quiet, must be morning tea. There is a portakabin in the garden whee they seem to spend more time than they do rendering the walls.
We bought 100 willow whips yesterday so will stick them all around the boundary to give us a windbreak. Will have to make sure they are far enough from the stock fence so that the livestock don’t eat the leaves when they grow.
Hope you all have a good day.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 14-Oct-20 10:31:04

sheepandcattle welcome and what an interesting post.

Callistemon Wed 14-Oct-20 10:21:57

Good morning Mick and everyone from S Wales

Anyway, I have left over potatoes and this has prompted me to make chocolate macaroon bars today.
Well, who knew you could make fondant/marshmallow from potato? Do potatoes count as one of your 5 a day?

Congratulations to your DGD, Annapops.

You all sound as if you're having a busy day. We're puppy-sitting later then going for our flu jabs.
At least there's one thing to look forward to.

Parsley3 Wed 14-Oct-20 10:08:34

Good morning everyone here and in the doghouse.
Congratulations annapops.

BassGrammy Wed 14-Oct-20 10:07:17

Another lurker here who would like to join in! Greeting from a lovely sunny Yorkshire! After two gloomy days, the sun is shining, although I’m not sure for how long! I haven’t been out of the house for two days so I might take the opportunity to do some gardening jobs this morning. Or maybe go for a walk. DH is cross because he‘s wanted to take stuff to the tip and it’s closed on Wednesdays! I’m hoping to see the grandchildren after school too! I miss them!

Feelingmyage55 Wed 14-Oct-20 09:57:53

Good morning from a very wet North of Scotland. I had to wear my wellies to pop to the postbox. I need to wash my windows but every time I lift the bucket the heavens open. There have been some wonderful rainbows though. I am missing the tennis from last week so am reduced to doing useful things like swapping the clothes in the cupboard for winter ones. Because of the lockdown and doing so much gardening, I have worn the same handful of items all summer and not any of my nicer clothes. I started clearing the greenhouse this morning when it was 6 degrees and it has now gone up to 8 degrees! My local garden centre had sold out of spring bulbs last wee, which was so disappointing. As a family firm I always try to buy from them rather than online but needs must. Recommendations welcome.
annapops. Lovely news.
Enjoy the autumn colours everyone and have the best day you can.

Kalu Wed 14-Oct-20 09:51:35

Good morning all from a rainy day in Glasgow. No washing out today then!

What a lovely gesture and it’s message from your DS kitty.
You must have been bursting with pride when you heard of your GD’s achievements Annapops and Sar what talented GC you both have including our friend Maw whose GS is also a dancer. Watching the gracefulness of a ballet performance is mesmerising.

Whoopee, I have an outing today.....I am having my flu jab at 3.00pm and that’s about as exciting as my day will be I am rapidly losing track of time or day as each day rolls in to another.

Good morning to our remaining Doghouse2. Haste ye back.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day whatever you find to do and special thoughts to our missing friends, hoping you have a better day whatever is troubling you.
