1000 words. Photos on GN.

They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

Ooh, lovely, Bathsheba - wish I was by the sea just now! We often go down to the Welsh coast in our campervan. This was Parrog beach last year. We saw seals that day smile

One of our local beaches late afternoon.

Katek just wow

Greyduster Mon 19-Oct-20 11:05:36

Some stunning photos on here, folks!

Great camera minimoon. I’m thinking of getting a monopod to help steady mine - never a gatepost handy when you want one!

Our beach, at sunrise, on the NE coast.

Janiepops, I had always wanted a painting by numbers set, but money was very tight in our house, so it didn't happen.
When I was twelve, I got up on Christmas morning to find my present was a painting by numbers set of two ballerinas. It was my best Christmas present ever!
I didn't know you could still get them.
Your paintings are lovely!

Bellanonna Sun 18-Oct-20 22:30:24

Katek, that’s stunning!

View from our beach at 8 this morning.

Greyduster Its a Canon EOS 4000D I think, or one in that range. I've not used it very much but it has a good zoom lens. Its a bit ungainly to hold when on the highest zoom, fortunately I had a gatepost to rest on when I took the photo of the moon.

Love this photo of my fireplace...was a marble clad has fire when we bought the house...I tore it all out,had gas pipe capped and created this...fire surround from a junk shop..think its Art deco

Greyduster Sun 18-Oct-20 16:48:31

It must have a good zoom function, minimoon to get a shot like that!?? What sort is it?

MiniMoon Sun 18-Oct-20 16:27:18

DH received a new camera from his employer when he reached retirement age.
He's never used it, but I took this photo of the moon to try it out. I was very pleased with the result.

Riverwalk I ‘ve PM’d you.

Bathsheba Sun 18-Oct-20 15:20:06

And I’m so glad I noticed my misstype of your name Janiepops, where I’d mistakenly typed two ‘o’s instead of ‘op’ in the last syllable blushgrin

Bathsheba Sun 18-Oct-20 14:49:17

Oh they’re beautiful janiepops. I’ve never done any paint by numbers pics (except online on my phone!)

LauraNorder Sun 18-Oct-20 14:41:07

Scallops before and after, delicious

Ellianne Sun 18-Oct-20 14:32:16

That's the idea Bellanonna, you're right every picture is special. We have a beautiful country, nature is beautiful, art is exquisite in all its forms, a pair of boots has its own story and so on.
Hopefully a fun and uplifting weekend thread for many!

Bellanonna Sun 18-Oct-20 14:20:04

This is a brilliant thread. Must be the best one on GN at the moment. I couldn’t single out any one picture, as they are all special in their different ways. Food for the soul, needed right now.

Janiepops Sun 18-Oct-20 13:23:42

During lockdown I restarted paint by numbers, and wow, it’s SO relaxing, and creative for those of us that aren’t naturals, but like to paint. Suitcase painting will be finished today.
Be warned, it’s addictive!

Ellianne Sun 18-Oct-20 13:15:01

Hooray, the donkey sanctuary has finally re opened. I'm not sure why the donkeys went into isolation for so long.

Bathsheba Sun 18-Oct-20 13:03:49

Great picture Greyduster, not surprised you were pleased with it!

Greyduster Sun 18-Oct-20 12:56:25

I took this when we were on holiday in Cornwall in August. I was rather pleased with it.

Riverwalk Sun 18-Oct-20 12:55:34

Those fishcakes look fab! What did you use for the crumb?

Greyduster Sun 18-Oct-20 12:53:51

OMG! Fishcakes! Me please, Puzzler!?
