1000 words. Photos on GN.

They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

I thought I would post you a photo of my Christmas tree. Despite all my best efforts over the years, we don’t do tasteful one or two tone decorations. We have a riotous mixture of “stuff”! Poor Father Christmas has been getting higher up a variety of trees for years and now has altitude sickness!

Cute Namsnanny.
Found some ponies to photograph on this morning's walk.

Namsnanny Thu 10-Dec-20 11:32:16

Another reindeer from me!
This one is made from felt, so not possible to use outside as a decoration, and again its £250!!
I would worry about the storage of large items such as these.
Not very good photos but I'm having some tech problems.
One of which was down to me tchblush.
I knocked a heavy lamp onto my laptop keyboard and surprise surprise, it refuses to worktchangry

Lovely photos everyonetchsmile

It looks like everyone took your advice Ellianne or maybe they have all gone Christmas shopping! Those are lovely images, bright and light. It’s grey, damp and cold here so photo opportunities are limited, but here are a couple of my attempts to cheer up the house.

Goodness it's cold and frosty out there!
Wrap up warm or stay by the fire.

Wow, what beautiful paths of lights Beechnut, thank you.
It has amazed me throughout this tough year, how people and places have found things to keep themselves happy, and more importantly to give pleasure to others.
(A bit like this thread really.)

Our trip to Blenheim Palace on Friday

grannyqueenie Sat 05-Dec-20 23:17:08

Do I detect some veiled enthusiasm there, greyduster?
3 trees, you’re way ahead of me Ellianne, beautiful and everyone is different. Love those stone owls too, I’m not always a fan of garden ornaments but last year, when in the Lake District with a friend I found myself succumbing to a Herdy sheep. He’s made of slate and I’ve become quite fond of him!
Trying to get into the Christmas spirit here, my kids will be flabbergasted, having spent their entire childhood hearing me say “ A tree? My goodness no, it’s far too early ask me again the week before Christmas!”
Well it’s not an ordinary kind of a year is it? ?

cornergran Sat 05-Dec-20 21:30:20

Just some candles. Love the owls ellianne, definitely cute.

Ellianne Sat 05-Dec-20 12:48:22

The stone owls round the base of the tree were cute.

Ellianne Sat 05-Dec-20 12:44:45

A bit cold and gloomy out there this morning. Need more lights!

Ellianne Fri 04-Dec-20 17:40:27

Another Christmas light here.

cornergran Fri 04-Dec-20 17:34:27

Wonderful greyd. Love them tchsmile. One of ours has a battery, the other needs shaking to make it snow, may need to go in search of a third. tchgrin. No snow here thank goodness, don’t send it this way.

Your tree is lovely Ellianne. Driving back today so many homes had lit trees in the window, really enjoyed seeing them.

.

Ellianne Fri 04-Dec-20 15:09:11

grin

Greyduster Fri 04-Dec-20 15:04:23

They are battery operated. And they both have new batteries! Isn’t that good?!

Ellianne Fri 04-Dec-20 14:35:52

Are you shaking those up Greyduster or are they battery operated?

Greyduster Fri 04-Dec-20 14:32:56

If you can’t beat ‘em.......

farview Fri 04-Dec-20 13:28:11

Beautiful trees Ellianne.....very light snow here...and the 'child' in me wants it to stick ?

Greyduster Fri 04-Dec-20 13:06:24

Lovely, Ellianne! They go with the snow that is falling here at the moment! It won’t stick (it WON’T stick!). We are mounting an expedition into the loft today to look for our tree. There may, from then on, be great wailing and gnashing of teeth as we try and find a new location for it, cos it ain’t staying in the living room! Watch this space!

Ellianne Fri 04-Dec-20 11:18:27

Festive Friday! Three trees accomplished here AND one very unimpressed dog!

Greyduster Thu 03-Dec-20 18:16:04

Indeed! Probably won’t see one again for a while. Absolutely freezing though. I liked your soldiers, Corner - different and very jolly!

cornergran Thu 03-Dec-20 17:43:58

Blue sky greyd? What’s one of those????? The soldiers looked fine in real life, fun even, maybe not the best as a photo though.

farview Thu 03-Dec-20 16:56:07

Just caught up on all the beautiful photos....dont ever want this thread to end...?✨?

Greyduster Thu 03-Dec-20 16:22:23

That shingle looks like a good place for sea glass, Ellianne!
I took these the other day when we were out on our “mudfest”. Beautiful day - all downhill from here!

Greyduster Thu 03-Dec-20 16:11:40

They’re just doing what soldiers do when they’ve got nothing to do - they hang about?, having a fag, and waiting for someone to come along and tell them to “stop hanging about........ and GET FELL IN!!!”
