They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

Perhaps “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways....” would help, gduster” - apply to the Christmas items or Mr Duster whichever you think will work best! tchwink

Greyduster Wed 02-Dec-20 19:43:45

Hmm! Let me see......?!

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 19:29:13

How can you not love them greyd? I’m shocked tchshock. tchgrin.

grannyqueenie Wed 02-Dec-20 18:03:26

corner ???

Greyduster Wed 02-Dec-20 17:18:43

Oh my goodness!!?

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 16:42:37

Be very careful greyd - they breed ?.

grannyqueenie Wed 02-Dec-20 15:27:49

Be thankful ?? Greyduster, it could be very much worse!
The church walls are actually white, but there are fancy uplighter/spot thingies that can change the hue to all sorts of colours. They were part of the big refurb a few years ago and are really effective.

DH bought this just after last Christmas, to go with one we already have. I would have paid the shop not to sell it to him, but he and GS love them! Now all I have to do is stop him going out and buying any more!

FannyCornforth

grannyqueenie the pink walls of your Church are absolutely stunning.

Yes they are grannyqueenie!
I wasnt sure if it was coloured light reflected off the white walls?

Ellianne Wed 02-Dec-20 10:04:13

Nice JackyB and others.
The lights and colours are starting to appear everywhere in our town.

JackyB Wed 02-Dec-20 08:13:42

My birthday is in November and one of my presents had a beautiful bow on it that I used for the Advent decoration on my front door. The picture is not brilliant because I had to take it in daylight. It has fairy lights on ot, so in keeping with the theme of "lights"

Re Four Candles.
Ronnie Corbett's daughter has a shop in Brighton of that name, which I think is so lovely. I bet that he was a smashing father.

Love the Christmassy ones.

Here is my strawberry tree - arbutus. Nice and colourful for December.

I couldn't post photos either. So I logged off and logged on again, now ok. Might work.

Hello! There seem to be a few on the thread who are having trouble uploading pics. Please email us if that's you, so we can take a look. If you can give us as much info as possible (your browser - Chrome, Internet Explorer etc) and your device (laptop/iPad/phone) etc that would be helpful. Also, if you could explain in detail (in the email, not here) what happens when you try upload that would be great. Hopefully we can get it sorted for you! Thanks tchsmile

grannyqueenie Tue 01-Dec-20 16:57:20

Well the goldfinches have obviously forgotten yesterday’s visitor and are enjoying the bird feeders once again.!

Lights are so cheering in these short December days. Here’s some from last year’s Christmas Tree Festival in our town, sadly yet another event that’s fallen foul of Covid this year..

Lisagran Tue 01-Dec-20 16:28:39

New little Christmas deco grin

cornergran Tue 01-Dec-20 15:43:46

Some more Longleat lights and an unusual nativity from Gloucester Cathedral. We were there in January and were delighted to find it still on display, very unusual, it was delighting the children.

I can post photos but its taking an age, everything hangs for what seems forever. hmm.

Ellianne Tue 01-Dec-20 09:36:12

Has your Google logo today got a little robin stringing pretty lights through the letters and switching them on?
Let's have a few days of lights to brighten things up!
I hope those of you who are unable to post your photos can get yo the bottom of the problem.
Here's a lit up shop window.

Namsnanny Mon 30-Nov-20 21:54:38

We get one every winter here as well, Callistemon and I gather it's the female who hunts small garden birds.
It's all part of the cycle, but hard to watch.
Perhaps yours was a male?

That must be frustrating for you farview sad
I'm having tech problems too, so I cant post either!!

Greyduster did you ever see the documentary where the sparrow hawk had a camera attached which filmed as he darted here and there through the woods?

Ellianne magical misty photo. Keep up the good work ?

Callistemon Mon 30-Nov-20 16:41:15

He (or she) has to eat ...

Just saying
We have had one in our garden occasionally and one caught a pigeon once. It sat at the top of the garden and demolished it.

farview Mon 30-Nov-20 16:37:31

Love all the candle photos...(I still am not able to post pics)
grannyqueenie..we also get sparrowhawk taking our garden birds..I know its nature but I hate seeing it..I often shoo them away...but one day as I clapped my hands loudly at one..he flew right at me...and swerved at the last second ?

Greyduster Mon 30-Nov-20 15:32:55

Ooh! My favourite birdie! I know they’re naughty, but there’s nothing more agile on two wings - unless you count the F35B Lightning.......! Okay GQ, I’ll shut up now shall I??
