Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry out there this morning in Brackley .
My usual Saturday, get the bus to Buckingham ,and then Bicester, cafe stop hoping they will have pork slices in a bap with stuffing and apple sauce .
Return home and watch the Giro on Tv which is slowly going into the Dolomites , so will be interesting as to weather changes and if it effects the race.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. It looks grey but dry outside.
This weekend I have so many plans, first I am taking the pooch to see DFiL in his care home, we won’t stay long as we have to be outside and I don’t want him to get too cold.
Then it is to the garden, bulb planting and putting it to rest for winter. Tomorrow I will be building a book box for my DGS as we refuse to spend £100 on a bit of painted wood, I hope I am as good at carpentry as I think I am as we don’t want it to look rubbish!! I spent £24 on the wood and legs. I will post a photo if it’s any good, so if you all hear nothing else about the book box you know I am no ‘Jesus’ and I have abandoned it??
Have a good weekend all of you, stay safe, play by the rules and let’s get this sorted❤️

Gingster Sat 17-Oct-20 08:23:06

Good morning all from a greyish Essex. You have escaped the tier 2 restrictions Sar. Lucky you! ?

My DD and GC were coming for Sunday lunch but now it’s cancelled. We could go out to a restaurant together though. How does that make sense? ?.

Well done with your walking progress Elizabeth keep up with the excercise. ?.

Have a lovely day with your chaps granMattie. ?.

Not much doing today. Read papers, take little pooch out, might watch a film. Nothing too strenuous.

Yesterday I picked up my friend for our book club meetup and the Hall was locked. I think the caretaker must have thought the restrictions had already come in. It was from midnight last night though. . Oh well, I didn’t like the book anyway. ?. So went back to friends for a coffee and then a supermarket shop. I suspect that will be the last I see of her (or anyone) for a while.

Take care all and enjoy your day if you can. ???

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-20 08:25:09

A quick good morning to you. I'm babysitting this morning so my usual routine will be upset. Not that I mind a bit. Grammattie enjoy all the time with your boys. Cornergran I'm sorry you didn't have good news at the hospital ?. Elizabeth it sounds like a good day for you. Bellasnanna you have a very smart gd! Excellent vocabulary. But your poor daughter. I need to nip to the shop for milk before the arrival of the tiny dynamo. Have a good Saturday.

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Oct-20 08:27:42

gingster I thought you could only meet up with another household outside in Tier 2 not in a restaurant. It is very confusing.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-20 08:29:01

And I missed a proper Good morning All from a cool and calm Polmont. Too much in a rush to get going! Marydoll I'm glad you're feeling a bit better this morning. My sil's sister suffers from RA and is in pain often.

LauraNorder Sat 17-Oct-20 08:29:15

Good morning Mick and all from a dry Anglesey. That pork bun sounds delicious Mick.
No builders here today, they only got one short wall done yesterday, hopes of an October finish diminishing fast. I dread the frost as it can harm the lime render.
Thought we’d wrap up warm today and take a picnic to the beach which is finally quiet.
Tesco delivery after 4pm with a few treats included.
Hope all awaiting tests or treatments will be okay.
Make the very best of your day grandMattie.
Congrats on your win cornergran, always nice to have something unexpected.
Your poor daughter Bellasnana, especially as it’s her dominant hand, goodness these youngsters are bright as buttons.
Hoping you all have a lovely weekend whatever tier you happen to be part of.

aggie Sat 17-Oct-20 08:33:33

Good Morning all, it is a very pleasant morning here , I have been out inspecting the garden , lots of autumn colours . We gave three very miniature cherry trees and they are a lovely coppery red
Hope we all have the best day possible

harrigran Sat 17-Oct-20 08:36:05

Good morning from a dark and rainy NE.
DH has the washer on and has nipped out for a newspaper.
I am going to make leek and potato soup later, will fill a pot for my sister as she gave us some of her tomato soup earlier in the week.
My sister in Germany is going to video call at some point over the weekend so I can see how she is, she has been having more injections in her eyes for macular degeneration.
Half term commences next Thursday for GC, hoping they may have time to WhatsApp as we haven't spoken since the end of August.
Good luck with the prep Mr Lester.

Good morning from a dark and cloudy County Durham.

We're back home now from our travels in Scotland, finishing off with visiting the magnificent Melrose Abbey yesterday morning.

Some upsetting news however on our return. My ex BIL rang ( he was married to my younger sister who died at the age of 35, remarried and sadly lost his second wife to cancer last year). He's in ICU having been rushed into hospital with covid. Currently on oxygen, so hoping he does not become worse. He works in a special school with autistic teenagers, where the virus has taken hold with both pupils and staff. It's a very worrying situation.

Stay safe everyone and have the best day you can.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Our South Yorkshire weather is damp and dreary. We are supposed to be walking but it will have to dry up first. And it will have to be close to home. I feel rather ‘bleagh’ this morning, as if there is a UTI on the horizon. Always at the weekend!
Congratulations on your competition win, Corner! Exciting!??. Kitty my son lives in York - not much less than two hours but I wish he lived a bit closer too.
Have the best day you can folks.

grandMattie Sat 17-Oct-20 08:48:49

Oh Anna, how terribly sad! You’ll be much in my thoughts...

Anniebach Sat 17-Oct-20 08:55:21

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Taichinan Sat 17-Oct-20 08:55:30

Good morning Mick and all his followers from an Angus coast where the clouds have cleared - to make way for an icy wind. I have nothing planned but am definitely looking forward to next week when my tai chi classes will start again. I have really missed them. I passed your mars bar recipe to DGD3, Marydoll, and she says she's going to make them right away as a trial run and then another tray for when she next sees me! At 14 she's a great cook. She made a lasagne for 7 the other week when they were staying with DD's New Man and his boys.

So sorry to hear of your DD's hand Bellasnana - very painful for her. And hard on her pocket too! You're right - we are so lucky with our NHS. I hope all goes well with Mr Kitty's tests. It's a worrying time for you both. Elizabeth I'm so glad you are progressing so well. Enjoy the drive to Dundee and say hello to Newport as you pass - my home town. Enjoy your walk Brook - such a stunning part of the world. That pork bap with apple sauce has my mouth watering Mick! I'm sure I had something like that many years ago off a food stall at a country show - I think it was called a stottie up here. Grandmattie enjoy this extra special day with all your chaps. And everybody make it the best day you can, come rain or shine. ☺️??

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Oct-20 08:55:38

Anna that is so sad flowers

Georgesgran Sat 17-Oct-20 08:58:45

Good Morning from Durham - dark, damp and dreary. Had a good nights sleep and woken with a bee in my bonnet, which isn’t like me, as I’m quite laid back.
Frustrating to read that so many GN’s are just carrying on as normal, just because they’re in T1 - do they think they’re immune to the virus if they wear a mask!! We were all in T1 once and now look at what’s happening! Rant over.

Hope everyone has the best day today. Special thoughts for those with troubles, especially in our small corner up here. X

Kalu Sat 17-Oct-20 09:03:21

Good morning all from grey skies in Glasgow.

Hope all goes well for your DH kitty. Pleased to hear your DD isn’t moving 2hrs away. Phew!

I have added a photo of an unexpected visitor yesterday. This beautiful Maine Coon often visits for a sniff of the pot of catnip but I didn’t think he would manage to get through the cat flap. ?. Now I will have to take my cat for an ID chip and change the catflap settings.

Sorry to hear of your DD’s accident Bellasnana. Hope her treatment goes well. It’s always more of a worry when our DC are so far away ?
Hope you get your results soon corner
I missed the Susan Calman programme Marydoll, hope it’s on catch up.

Although I have ?no particular place to go? I must give my car a run.

Good morning to our missing dear friend. Hoping this nonsense will soon be over.?

Have a good day all especially to our friends having to endure troubling times.

Jaxjacky Sat 17-Oct-20 09:10:30

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy S Hants, it’s rained overnight, wasn’t expecting that. Mixed news from you all so far this morning, poorly hands, awaiting test results, coffee meet ups and family meet ups, I hope they all go well. Nothing exciting here bar a trip to DD, 10 minutes away, to drop in a pumpkin and crown prince squash I grew for the DG’s Halloween. DH just back with the paper, so the crossword will keep me quiet later after I get a chicken casserole ready for dinner, then a stroll to the local pub. Thermals required for outside sitting now, although they do have heaters.
Hoping you all have a pleasant day and those in difficulty have some respite.

Oopsadaisy4 Sat 17-Oct-20 09:15:55

Good morning everyone from a dull and gloomy Oxfordshire.
Fencers/tree surgeons have packed up and gone, so today I can plant some bulbs in the garden, before the ground gets too cold.
Although I might just put them all into pots.
Apart from that the dog will be here later and we can test if the garden is now dog proof! Let’s hope it is or she will run away.....

GrannyGravy13 Sat 17-Oct-20 09:17:47

Good morning Mick and all

I can confirm that it’s grey here in Essex.
Gingster I do not think that different households can mix in any situation in tier 2? I do hope I am wrong though.

I need to catch up with some inside jobs today that have been neglected this week.

Urmsstongran I would check to see what is open at Malaga Airport, there was nothing there a couple of weeks ago.

Anna wishing your BIL a good recovery.

Bellasnanna your poor daughter ,

Sending a big (((hug))) to all our virtual friends in need.

Gillybob an extra big hug (((((hugs))))) I do
hope that your problems are resolved and we hear from you soon ???

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

GrannyOwl5 Sat 17-Oct-20 09:20:37

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is dry and cloudy.
Yesterday’s excursion to the tile shop was successful and we now know the colour and shape of tile we want to use in the bathroom - who knew there were so many shapes and styles to choose from!
We had a very pleasant lunch with DD and SIL all socially distance in their conservatory with the doors wide open and the old folk wrapped up in blankets. They were both working from home so it was a pleasant break all round.
I have invested in two squirrel-proof bird feeders in my on-going skirmishes with my resident squirrels; they should be arriving later today so we will see if they deter the little blighters - I have my doubts, but we shall see!
A day in the garden beckons to do a bit more tidying up before wet and windy weather arrives next week.
Hope you all have a good day. Stay safe

MellowYellow Sat 17-Oct-20 09:22:47

Morning everyone. Cold and wet here in south Cornwall. Am going to sort my concreting room - It's a small narrow space which I've allowed to get junked up. I started using concrete months ago and facing a long winter with my hips in mega decline I'm going to go back to it. I want to make some planters for my patio.

My amaretti biscuits yesterday were amazing, so easy to make, so quick to eat up! As I said last evening Kalu I'll eat them for you as I don't have your address. grin

GrandMattie, my thoughts are with you. Anna, so sad, sorry.

The best of days to all. Right, I'd better get out of the bath now.....

MellowYellow Sat 17-Oct-20 09:29:34

MaryDoll I've PM'd you re fruit trees.

Beauregard Sat 17-Oct-20 09:29:59

Good morning all from Derbyshire where it's dry now raining. Our gardening plans were curtailed yesterday due to a couple of showers, but there's always today...or tomorrow!

A quick visit from DS this morning - outside, socially distanced of course! He wants to deliver the afternoon tea voucher he bought me for my birthday two weeks ago, which didn't arrive in time. I'll look forward to that cupcakebrew.

This afternoon we'll watch horse racing. It's Champions Day at Ascot ?. Then a visit to check on the horses before returning home to see what concoction we can come up with for dinner.

Annapops Hope your ex BIL feels better soon. Thoughts to all with troubles flowers

Have a good day everyone.

Pittcity Sat 17-Oct-20 09:30:52

Yes Gingster the others are right. You can't mix with another household in any indoor setting. You could walk around the shops socially distanced I suppose.
Your tier rules go with the person and not the place. So you can't even leave your area to meet up.

GrannySomerset Sat 17-Oct-20 09:32:24

Grey and cool here and no major plans though I might risk a trip to Bath on my own while DH watches the Rugby League this afternoon. Lovely WI meet up yesterday despite the chill and was duly impressed with the garden which is prairie style in planting- very different from the cottage garden we nurtured.

Sorry so many are anxious or under the weather. It’s hard to stay positive when the outlook is so discouraging but the human spirit keeps bursting through. Thank goodness for the young, who are programmed to look forward. DHD1 was delighted to pass her driving theory test yesterday so she can now join the long waiting list for a practical test. She is definitely looking forward.
