We all had something of each, so no, it doesn't describe me (first) and two sisters.

DH and I, both only children, are a mix of first and only. DGD1 is also an only child and ticks most of the boxes in first and only categories. DD, first child, is certainly well described; DS, number two of two, is hard to categorise.

Lots of research evidence to support the view that first and only children are often over achievers so maybe that is because parenting the first child is a more anxious process?

Agree with you NannySomerset. Both myself and DH are only children and are a mix of first and only. Also your sentence about parenting is quite interesting.

Nope, nothing like our family. Not our three DDs or myself and my older brother or my DH, who is an only child.

The oldest child may make the rules but it doesn't mean that he or she follows them!

I am definitely the oldest child except I'm not an adult pleaser

There is some accuracy here. My elder sibling is a bossy know all, as is my DH's elder brother.

Younger sibling is self centred and likes to be pampered.

Me in the middle - flexible, easy going, peacemaker, independent. Certainly secretive - I don't wear my heart on my sleeve.

There seems to be a lot of daft stuff around like this at the minute. This morning on the news, someone said that apparently, we all lose our sense of humour by the time we’re 23!! Thank goodness that’s not true, we may as well jack it all in now! I think there’s too many people with not enough to do?

No, sorry. I have looked at a number of families to compare it to that summary and see no correlation whatsoever.

The First Child description could be my third child, while my fourth child fits the Only Child description best! Neither of my first two children fit any of the categories.

The first one fits my youngest child quite well, and there are quite a few of the first one that fit my first child.
My middle child has more of the last child descriptions for her. The descriptions for middle child do not fit any of mine.

Eldest child fits me, my eldest daughter and eldest grandson.

The arguments get quite heated!. LOL

I thought Yes, for some but not all of the traits , but then swapped the titles around and some of the traits also fit even then.

Not mine, but my second child, and eldest girl definitely fits as the eldest on that list. None of my others really fit any of them.

Nor does any of the rest of my family fit into this

Not one of the examples fits any one of my family.
