Hi all
I sometimes ponder over the meaning of posters' usernames and thought it might be an interesting topic for a thread.
My own "maydonoz" is the Turkish word for parsley, to reflect my many years living in Turkey, previously and also enjoy cooking so use many herbs, including parsley.
Some of you may wish to share your username meaning too.

I'm a David Bowie fan! (If anyone doesn't know, Lady Stardust is track 1 side 2 of that amazing album, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars!)

Rowsie Tue 20-Oct-20 18:39:41

Mine is made from my surname, someone I used to work with started calling me it and it seemed a good name to use.

Caro57 Tue 20-Oct-20 18:44:24

Lack of imagination!

GrammaH Tue 20-Oct-20 18:45:26

I lived in Singapore as a child as my Father was in the forces. When we moved back to the UK my uncle gave me the nickname and it stuck with a few family members.

Sadgrandma Tue 20-Oct-20 19:36:55

I joined Gransnet when we first went into lockdown and I was missing my little gd who we'd been looking after for two days a week. It was like a physical pain.Thankfully we have her back again now.

Kittymollie Tue 20-Oct-20 19:38:20

Another Gran using the name of a much loved cat!

Daftbag1 Tue 20-Oct-20 19:39:49

My username reflects my daft brain that no longer works!

Tempest Tue 20-Oct-20 19:57:20

Magic, mystery, love, betrayal, forgiveness, justice and exotic islands. Never a dull moment in my life although sometimes I am exhausted by it all.

Saetana Tue 20-Oct-20 19:57:46

My username comes from my favourite character in a fantasy series - the Black Jewels novels by Anne Bishop. The male character was called Saetan so I put an 'a' on the end to make it feminine. The bonus of having basically invented my username is that, so far as I know, it is unique. I also use it as my username for gaming and a few other things smile

dogsmother Tue 20-Oct-20 20:01:51

Mine speaks for itself!
Currently on two.....
Although I naturally have human off spring, or I’d stick to a dog forum I suppose.

Happysexagenarian Tue 20-Oct-20 20:02:52

Mine reflects my usually sunny disposition and my advancing (too quickly) years. An interesting thread.

Scrappydo Tue 20-Oct-20 20:08:23

A pet name from my husband many years ago. I think it originated from Scooby-Doo?

Musicgirl Tue 20-Oct-20 20:13:29

I'm a music teacher. I was born at the very end of 1964.

sart Tue 20-Oct-20 20:14:31

When I joined GN last year my 4th dgc was due and parents had chosen a name. My user name was going to be the first letter of each of soon to be 4 GCs names. After baby was born, parents changed the name! Stuck with it now hmm

Musicgirl Tue 20-Oct-20 20:19:41

I realise I have given my birth year. I use 64 ad part of a user name elsewhere. You wouldn't think anyone could make a mistake in this thread but I've managed it.

MissChateline Tue 20-Oct-20 20:25:25

The name of the song that was playing everywhere when I fell in love for the first time at the age of 36......so many years ago.

Jillybird Tue 20-Oct-20 20:33:31

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

stewaris Tue 20-Oct-20 20:36:15

Mine is my username from my first place of work after I graduated. I was a mature student (and graduate) and I loved it. I was there for 17 years and I continue to use it as I always remember how happy I was. It's made up of my previous surname and my Christian name. IT gave me it so it has nothing to do with my choice.

Nannytopsy Tue 20-Oct-20 21:00:25

My father called me Topsy for all my life and my daughter was Little Topse.

lemongrove Tue 20-Oct-20 21:08:07

Mine reminds me of a wonderful holiday in Italy many years ago, near Sorrento.

bridie54 Tue 20-Oct-20 21:09:47

Bridie is a savoury pasty made in Forfar, the town of my birth. I like them, particularly the authentic ones, so no flaky pastry bridies for me. And 1954, the year of my birth.

Yertiz Tue 20-Oct-20 21:13:01

Mine is from a sign my gran had on her bathroom door.

faye17 Tue 20-Oct-20 21:20:32
