I have to stop coming on Gransnet.

I burnt the curry onto the bottom of the saucepan.

And now I've burnt the rice..

I post whenever I sit down near the ipad and aren’t emailing or texting friends or reading.I have been having too many sit downs lately, mind you.?
I have GN friends in real life and many lovely virtual friends here, although sadly some have left GN over the years, and I always hope that they are ok.

Hi QuaintIrene
Hope you are feeling better and your little cat is ok

QuaintIrene Tue 20-Oct-20 20:21:52

I haven’t felt well enough to post alately, but I read every day. It’s been a godsend. Like listening in to a group of friends who don’t pester for me to join in all time.
Wonderful !

Thank goodness for that. I started to think gnet was going the way of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

Don't worry.... put the posts out in the yard and the slugs will clean them for you. Meanwhile, make spaghetti with garlic sauce.

I think Gransnet has been a blessing all through this period. So what if we spend so much time on it, life seems suspended anyway and any connection is good. I keep a diary off and on and this is similar, only with some comeback.
I particularly enjoy all the little domestic things we write about “The joy of small things”

Gransnet gets more priority over housework for me. Oh, what a state to get in grin Yes it is addictive isn't it.

silverlining48 Tue 20-Oct-20 12:26:09

Did anyone hear the piece about mumsnet on womans hour this morning? Gransnet wasnt mentioned but i was interested that mumsnet turnover is £8.3 million. Is that from advertising alone?

grandtanteJE65 Tue 20-Oct-20 12:21:42

Don't leave. Do like me, read Gransnet while you are having your afternoon rest - it's much more fun than snoozing.

Forestflame Tue 20-Oct-20 12:17:25

Thought from the thread title that GN would be no more!!.
So glad to find it's not the casesmile.
I do enjoy catching up with everyone on GN, especially during lockdown.

Go on for wee nosey when I sit down with my coffee. Can sit, relax and have a good titter at some of the comments. Enjoyed the user name thread this morning, great!

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 20-Oct-20 10:44:56

Have to admit I normally wait for coffee breaks to look at GN, one reason why i am often late!

Illte Tue 20-Oct-20 10:43:30

And here I am again ?

trisher Tue 20-Oct-20 10:32:34

Whew! The title of this thread nearly gave me a heart attack! I thought it was some sort of news. And I am not, repeat NOT! addicted. (Shoud we have a Grans Net Anonymous?)

M0nica Tue 20-Oct-20 10:27:45

I actually went cold turkey from March to about August, but then someone PM'd me, so I had a little look, just a look, you understand, I wasn't going to post - well, only occasionally..........

Purpledaffodil Tue 20-Oct-20 09:32:40

Whitewave I know a lovely lady I met on GN and have met once in RL, we use the term “ethereal friend”: friend on the ether. ?

honeyrose Tue 20-Oct-20 09:19:33

I always go into GN every morning when I wake up and then dip in and out during the day. I’m finding i’m spending more and more time on it, but it doesn’t dominate all my time. I do love it! Great variety of topics - and wide-ranging opinions. I sometimes find myself agreeing with someone, only to read another post with opposite views and find myself agreeing with them too! GN does challenge the way I think about stuff. I’m the sort of person who can often see both sides of the coin, but have very strong opinions on certain subjects. I really enjoy GN - it’s like an increased circle of friends and I really identify with some of you. No names, no pack drill!

It is interesting isn’t it what the actual relationship people feel they have with other posters.

I suspect that how people react/relate to each other is much the same as one does in real life.

For myself, I am quite a self contained individual in real life, but I do feel that I have more in common with some posters than others and can feel sympathetic with their posts but I don’t see folk I talk to on social media as friends in the traditional sense as there is so much we don’t know about each other.

I think that there isn’t yet the language to describe the relationship built up on social media.

Not Pen-friend but Tap-friend?
