I was looking up the name of an author Jojo Moyles to decide if I would like her books and found that there had been a thread about her in 2015.

I only recognised about 3 members who are still here today Soop Lemongrove and AuntieFlo and I just felt sad that all the others had dropped away for some reason or another.

Sadly Marydoll this is always a possibility, especially this year sad

Marydoll Sun 25-Oct-20 11:10:33

Sorry, this may sound morbid, but I sometimes wonder if someone who has disappeared has actually died?
I suppose it depends on whom you are in contact with. ?

I wonder where Grandad1943 got to
Pontglas He's probably been reported for speaking his mind and is now residing in the Doss House! grin
Good Health

Oh heaven's, I remember Maryeliza shock grin

Oh, maryeliza was most definitely marmite. She could be very rude.
Although the last time she came back she started a thread and I agreed with her absolutely.

You do wonder if posters have just got fed up, moved on or worse and we'll never know.

...and some who have been banned!

maddyone Sun 25-Oct-20 10:56:39

I think some people change their user names because they think they’ve been ‘outed.’
And so, answering my own question grin

Chewbacca

^If Gabrielle is an example of the good old days, you’re welcome to her^

But for all her faults, she would never have made a comment like that about anyone. hmm

True!
Even when we had a difference of opinion we could move on from it.

maddyone

Also Maryeliza or something similar. Has she gone or changed her user name?

Oh heaven's, I remember Maryeliza shock grin

Thanks petra.

I must admit I was surprised when Jura came back as she so vehemently wanted to permanently leave she had asked GNHQ to ban her so that she couldn’t re-join.

Just goes to show, like my mum used to say ‘never slam a door on the way out in case you want to re-open it in the future’!
?

Actually I’m glad she’s back. We have different viewpoints but she’s feisty and opinionated which makes for interesting points of view!

Going back to the OP - the first Jojo Moyes book I read was - Ship of Brides- it is about Australian women who married British Servicemen during the war and who were brought to Britain together on a ship.
I read the book as I saw the author being interviewed on TV about the book. It was based on fact and I think it was connected to her grandmother in some way.

lemongrove Sun 25-Oct-20 09:57:52

Yes Chewbacca it was, quite a few years ago now 3/4 years?

Chewbacca Sun 25-Oct-20 09:56:29

Is POGS still with us?

petra Sun 25-Oct-20 09:55:05

Maddyone
I'm pretty certain that Daphnedill ( that was) is still with us under another name.

Anniebach Sun 25-Oct-20 09:52:28

I don’t like the forum but still read threads . I too miss many
posters

Chewbacca Sun 25-Oct-20 09:51:51

Yes, I remember Menopaws too lemon, I liked her very much. Wasn't it Anya who set up the very first Argy Bar?

lemongrove Sun 25-Oct-20 09:46:13

Where are Crafting, JaneD3 and Menopaws? All great regulars in the Argy not that long ago and BBbevan too.
If you are around, drop in for a quick one ( and maybe a drink too!)

maddyone Sun 25-Oct-20 09:45:05

Also Maryeliza or something similar. Has she gone or changed her user name?

maddyone Sun 25-Oct-20 09:44:14

I liked reading Gabriella’s posts too. I thought she came across as a free spirit, as one poster said already. I had noticed jura was missing too. Yogagirl disappeared too but has recently made a couple of posts.

Has anyone else noticed durhamjen has gone? She posted on the political threads. There was also a daphne something who has disappeared.

Why do people change their user names? Mines always been the same.

Iam64 Sun 25-Oct-20 09:41:16

Jura is back and posting regularly. You can't miss her style and if you do, the references to where she lives and life experience will tell you. I haven't used her new name and wonder if he will pop up here to tell people.

I haven't seen Galen so should pop into soops kitchen if she calls.

I miss some of the regulars from the political discussions. Didn't always agree but there were some well informed, strongly argued positions.

NannyJan53 Sun 25-Oct-20 09:38:14

There used to be a regular poster on the Good Morning thread. Her name was DoraMarr and lived in Birmingham. Not seen her for a while, she seemed a lovely person. I hope she is ok.

Marydoll Sun 25-Oct-20 09:32:47

GillyBob is taking time out of GN just now.

Marydoll Sun 25-Oct-20 09:30:35

suziewoozie

And of course she was right wing which is bound to get her a get out of jail free card with many on GN.,

I must be really dense, I took that as a criticism of her political views and a dig at other members of GN.
I really don't care what political views people have and endorse their right to post them on GN, as long as they are not personally offensive.

There are ways of expressing opinions, without resorting to unpleasantness. What a pity this thread, like many others has gone off piste again.

Poppyred Sun 25-Oct-20 09:28:57

Bye bye

suziewoozie Sun 25-Oct-20 09:26:10

But I’ll leave you all to your good old days reminiscing. Wouldn’t want to bring any balance into the discussion or another point of view.
