Good Morning Everyone,
Its a twilight start here in Brackley this morning , its dry as well.
A quiet day for me after watching the Giro drama unfold yesterday afternoon on TV.
Last year, when at the World Cycling Championships in Harrogate, I took a photo of the Giro winner boarding the INEOS coach , having finished 20th for GB on a wet day there.
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie

*Taichinan*, it isn't just "things to do today" but "we ALWAYS clean on Mondays" etc. which get to me... Noting is left to chance.
Sunday evenings is an interrogation on what is happening during the coming week. I find it very trying.

I feel your pain here grandMattie.
Have you discussed it and told him it makes you feel low & restricted?

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a bright east London.

Sorry to read that so many ‘Good Morningers’ have been feeling low and I hope everyone has a decent day.
MawB thank you for the update on Bluesapphire and good morning to her if she’s reading.
Grammaretto hope your DH is ok after his blood tests and that he is able to have a reasonably comfortable day.

We were out of the house at 8.00am to take our cat Missy to the vet for her vaccinations. She is 16 years old and has a heart condition. She has to stay in the hospital for the day, to have blood tests taken and her BP checked. I found it quite difficult to leave her there. However the vet says she’s stable and everything has checked out ok, so far (fingers crossed).

Thinking of gilly and all those facing challenges. Have a good day, all.

I want to join in but it doesn't work

Good morning. I have popped in from tidying the garden to read the thread and have a cup of tea. I’m going to venture to the garden centre to see if they have had a delivery of bulbs as they had sold out a couple of weeks ago. Last night I watched a good drama on catch-up called DNA. It feels like winter now the clocks have changed. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning,

It's very wet at the moment in South Yorkshire though the sun is trying to break through as I type, so I'm hoping that it is going to brighten up a little bit.

We got a few jobs done in the garden yesterday as it remained dry and sunny. I've still got some tulip bulbs to plant but that will gave to wait until the rain stops, so maybe will be done towards the end of the week.

Good to hear that BlueSapphire is alright and may come back to post soon. I do hope so, and also hope that gilly posts again even if only occasionally for a while. ? to both of you.

Mostly indoor jobs today I think as the rain looks set to stay, despite the slight brightening at the start of my post.

To all feeling under the weather or in pain, I hope today brings you better things. Take care, everyone.

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's a damp morning in Greater Manchester. I can hear the cars on the road but haven't seen then yet.

DP just brought me a coffee, which was nice. He's gone off to work in his garden office which has no heating so he's wearing his coat and cap. He's just put on the heating in the house for me. What a treasure.

He bought me an Iris for my birthday which is the most beautifully engineered brass instrument for making circles. He is so good to me. I loved it when he showed me a video of it but I couldn't justify getting it. However I've decided to make C..........s cards with round pictures grin

I'm another one who has been feeling down for a few days. I became eligible for my pension and finally paid off my mortgage. I missed not being able to celebrate these milestones with my younger brother who died earlier this year. It will be the first Christmas meal without him and it was my turn to have the family here from overseas so I think things just overwhelmed me. But the start of a new week has cheered me up.

I think that the tap tap tapping has got to your poor hand Marydoll. I loved spending hours on the PC creating resources for my pupils which had to be perfect, so I understand your frustration. I used to teach teachers in the LEA how to use our IT learning platform. It's no longer used which was a shame.

Made some pea and ham soup and some chicken soup (food for the soul) so a cooking free day today thank goodness.

Hope those with worries or ills have as peaceful a day as they can. Stay safe.

Good morning from Durham. A wet start, but it’s brightened up. Funny weekend as I’d posted a new thread that seemed to annoy some GN’s! (Took it to heart, but a PM reassured me some can find fault with anything). I’m fairly new here, so perhaps I’m on a steep learning curve.

DH has gone to the Surgery for another blood test, as the sample taken on Friday shows he’s not able to have tomorrow’s procedure. He’s had ‘treatment’ over the weekend, so hope it’s up to scratch now. I fear if he had these setbacks regularly, the treatment may be abandoned.

Annapops - keep promising myself a visit to Ushaw, it’s only a few miles away, but with DH almost housebound it’ll have to wait.

Window cleaners have just appeared so I’ll have to go, but hope everyone has the best day today - with special thoughts for missing GNs and those with troubles. X

Auntieflo Mon 26-Oct-20 10:12:56

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
So far, it is bright and sunny, so I decided to wash the throws on the settees. Then the cushion covers had to join them. Oh my, all the feathers were making a bid to escape. Think I will have to make some more under slip covers, to try and contain them.
Yesterday we saw DD and SIL for lunch. I had rung DD, early on and didn't realise they were away in their camper. But they came, and it was lovely to see them. I ate too much, but sticky toffee pudding is hard to resist.
Just pootling and faffing today. I would like to get a beautiful hydrangea cutting planted, before it overtakes it's temporary pot, and then there are bulbs to plant. Fingers crossed I have a fruitful day, instead of a wasted one.
Sending thoughts out to Gilly and all others who are absent lately.

Have a good day one and all.

LauraNorder Mon 26-Oct-20 09:42:26

Good morning Mick and all from Anglesey where the wind is blowing a hoolie, auto correct just said hoodie which made me giggle as I pictured lots of youngsters in the usual hoodie and jeans around the hips scooting at speed across the garden.
Have had a brief skim through the posts and note that so many of you are feeling low today, perhaps it’s the clocks going back on top of Covid and no hugs.
Let’s just march on through Christmas, by then the days will be getting longer again and we’ll be in to spring before we know it, a vaccine and sunshine will see off the naughty virus.
Have a nice day everyone, deep breath, shoulders back and on we go.

Taichinan Mon 26-Oct-20 09:34:13

As usual, late to the feast! But it's a bright grey day on the Angus coast, with a little bit of blue sky and an indication of sun. What more could a body ask for. Grandmattie I think your DH is a wise man with his "things to do today" list. I have one in my head but usually manage to ignore it! Sometimes I tell myself that that's the joy of living alone, but I realise I need to be firmer with myself. I have an outpatient appointment down at the health centre today which was put on hold in March - surely a step in the right direction - after which a trip to the High Street is in order to buy some birthday cards. Such excitement! I hope everyone has the best day possible. Let's all mile each time we feel a wobble coming on. I'll be back in later to read all the posts. ???

Grammaretto Mon 26-Oct-20 09:24:11

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where I'm sitting in my car in the rain waiting for DH to emerge from the surgery. He's just gone for blood tests but there's part of me that wants someone to notice how poorly he is and give us both support. I don't want him whisked into hospital so maybe I'll keep stum.
You will be missing your boy Grandmatte it's natural. But you wouldn't have missed him coming back.

Sorry to hear your hand is painful Marydoll. virtual healing balm on its way.
Have as best a miserable wet Monday as you can.

GrannyOwl5 Mon 26-Oct-20 09:13:45

Good morning everyone from north Kent where there it is lovely and bright with no clouds. Different from yesterday where it poured down most of the afternoon. DD came for a garden visit with GS2 just as the heavens opened. Fortunately we have a large awning on the back of the house which was unwound. We were dry and snug underneath it despite the odd drip of rain. Now have the task of drying it off before it can be wound up.
DH has gone off with a song in his heart and a spring in his step to play golf; I now have an empty Marydoll; commiserations on your disappointments.
Taking my car for its annual service later today. The garage is about 30 minutes away, so will drop it off for collection tomorrow. I feel quite excited at the thought of two trips out in 24 hours!
Glad to hear the news about BlueSapphire; when I was a lowly lurker I looked forward to reading her news as I lived in Northampton for several years, so a ? to her.
Hope everyone feeling a bit down or worried have a brighter day. Stay safe

annsixty Mon 26-Oct-20 09:11:57

Good morning all from a very wet Stockport.
Two weeks on from my hip operation I am doing really well.
Getting about fine and almost pain free, just aches when I have done the exercises.
Chasing up the District nursing service again today.
The referral to take out the clips was “lost”, who would have thought it, they should have been removed at the end of last week.
So upsetting to read how low some of you are, my own life was uneventful due to age and infirmity before this all started but even I am getting frustrated now.
Surely it will end sometime.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Gelisajams Mon 26-Oct-20 09:04:53

Good morning from yet another wet day in Morecambe Bay. I like to be organised and know what I’m doing grandMattie But DH likes to be more spontaneous and decide on the day what to do. We have a bit of a compromise- I plan what we are doing when and if I’ve nothing in particular to do, he can make a last minute decision. It falls a bit flat though when we have had days of rain and there’s not a lot left to do, especially at the moment as we can’t pop in on family. I say pop in, it’s a sixty mile drive to see any of them. We moved from Manchester when the last one went to uni and were spread throughout the country. Now all 5 DC are back around the Manchester area.
I think I’m going to attempt a dress for DG6 today. A lady I garden for gave me a pattern and some material a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise it’s crochet, a bit of exercise on my gym ball and too much time on my iPad no doubt.
Glad you were rumbled Marydoll you really mustn’t be going in shops if at all possible. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Kalu Mon 26-Oct-20 09:00:35

Good morning all from a drizzly day in Glasgow.

Keeping our fingers crossed the forecast has got it right today and it will be sunny and dry later as DD1 and the girls are hoping to visit after school today.?

A surprise FaceTime chat with a cousin and his girlfriend who called to tell us they have become engaged. He is the baby of our extended family and I am delighted with their news. Normally we would be having a family get together to celebrate the occasion but we will have to wait until such times, it is safe to do so.

Have a good day all and to those with troubling times, I hope you have a better day.
Hello Bluesapphire. I look forward to you joining us again whenever you can. My best wishes to you and also gilly.

Greyduster Mon 26-Oct-20 08:59:48

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry and clear, but cool in South Yorkshire. We planted bulbs yesterday and sorted out some pots of narcissus that were root bound and needed the soil topping up. They are sprouting already. Today, a bit of shopping and then I am making Cornish pasties (which I swore I would never do again, it’s such a faff) to cheer up my GS. We’ll take them over tomorrow, though we can’t go into their house and he can’t come out, it will be lovely to see him.
Have a good safe day folks.

Anniebach Mon 26-Oct-20 08:55:43

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

grannysyb Mon 26-Oct-20 08:55:17

Bright here, hope it stays that way as I have more alliums to plant. I bought myself a bulb auger which is like a very long drill bit, to use with the cordless drill, certainly speeds things up. DH is going to an appointment with the rheumatologist this morning, the GP thinks he has RA, the steroids are working at the moment, but I'm not sure if he can be on them long term. Hope everyone who feels a bit low feel better soon.

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 26-Oct-20 08:55:16

I’ll try again.
