I would have thought so, but there are some furious backbenchers apparently, but their guru Steve Baker seems on board after going into No 10 all guns blazing then seeing the data which seems to have put the fear of god into him, so maybe the back benchers are on board?
Boris Johnson was caught on the hop today due to details leaked to the media. From what’s been said this wasn’t due to be announced till Monday. He’s shown too often in the past he needs a well rehearsed script and if he’s forced to stray from it to reply to a question he looks out of his depth. My guess is he’s still rehearsing his speech till it meets with Cummings approval.
FFS! What a debacle. I know that any government would be managing the unknown early on but not now!
What are they arguing about/sorting out..they must have had an idea they would be making this announcement and surely should have modelling different scenarios in preparation before today!
The point is there is nothing surprising in the data! They were advised of where they would be at the end of October at least a month ago. We read it for heavens sake.
The leak was not an accident - nice to know that at a time of such seriousness there is someone in that small group of ministers and their close staff who thought leaking appropriate for whatever reason.
