Good morning from the Angus coast where it looks as if it might turn into a bonny day. Yesterday afternoon was beautiful - we always seem to buck the weather trend here.

Happy Birthday Greyduster and enjoy your lunch. Also Happy Birthday to Sar53's DGD for next week. What a stunning cake! It's also my DGD3's 15th birthday today - she has double maths, which really shouldn't be allowed on birthdays!

Nothing special happening here today - just taking it easy before I take just one short tai chi class this evening. I don't really like going out in the evening now, but there are several people who have been coming for a while and who still work who need an evening class, and it's only for an hour.

Sorry for all you people going into lockdown again. I wonder how long it will be before we follow suit up here. Like many, I have no family close by and the thought's a bit daunting - but if it's necessary we can do it again. Well the sun's up here, so I must follow suit. Enjoy your last day of "out and abouting", stay safe and smile as hard as you can! ???

Good morning from S Lanarkshire where we have a clear pale blue sky so it looks promising. Up early today as I'm decamping to the cottage on my daughter's farm for a couple of days while the painter works his magic (I hope!). I'll be glad of a rest after two days of carrying everything that had to be moved, upstairs. At least no deadline when carrying them back down! When I planned this I had not anticipated Level 3 and nobody being able to come into the house to help!
The farm is high up with lovely views towards the Peebleshire hills and it will be a nice break. I know I'm lucky to be able to go there but feeling a bit odd/sad that I won't get to see my two teenage grandchildren because of not being able to go into the farmhouse and it'll be too dark by the time they get back from school. Strange times but thankful for small mercies.
Wishing a good day to everyone.

Good Morning from a bright and sunny Black Country, with a touch of frost.

We are popping over to Mums today, as my Brother and SIL are going over to sit in the garden, as the weather was forecast sunny, but still coats on methinks. Then a walk on the Staffordshire railway walk. Who knows when we can all meet up again!

Happy Birthday Greyduster flowers

Wishing you all a good day. Thinking of gilly

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a sunny east London. Well done on the Christmas shopping front Mick.

We had an unplanned takeaway for supper last night. It was lovely ... no cooking and virtually no washing up.

We are trying not to get too drawn in to the US election. My partner has Zoom exercise and I plan a walk to the park.
I think I am a bit subdued about the lockdown. We shielded last time until the end of August.
I am disappointed that we won’t be able to go out for dinner on my partner’s birthday later in the month. I am a bit tired of trying to think of interesting, inventive meals.

Good to know that Bluesapphire and Cherry are with us. All good wishes for Day 3 to Dragonfly.
Good morning to gillybob if she’s reading.
Best wishes to all facing challenges or feeling jaded (like me ...), let’s be careful out there. ?

Good morning Mick morning all from a dry and bright South Lanarkshire. It was so cold when I took the dog out last night, it felt quite wintery.

Happy birthday Greyduster hope you have a good day.

This is our after school childminding day so I’ll prepare a pasta bake to pop in DD’s oven later.

Have the best day possible and look after yourselves.

Oopsadaisy4 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:22:29

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Oxfordshire, I wish I’d realised and I would have taken my Geraniums in! Oh well I’ll go out when it’s a bit warmer and if they have survived I’ll pop them into the Greenhouse and wrap them in fleece. Last year I took 15 indoors, far too many, so this year they will have to live or die in the greenhouse, fingers crossed.
I’ll tackle the spare bedrooms today and try to stay away from the US election news, although the radio will be on
Have a good day everyone and stay safe, extra hugs for those who are downhearted.

Good morning all,

It’s a beautiful, sunny morning here in South Yorkshire but very chilly.

Happy birthday Greyduster. ???? Enjoy your lunch.

Bellasnanna ?. It’s hard, no matter how many years have passed. Glad your purse was found safely - it’s a heart sinking moment when it’s nowhere to be found.

We had the new cooker hood fitted yesterday. It looks ok, but it’s a lot noisier than the previous one. I don’t like it as much, but at least I have a working one now.

Somehow, tomorrow’s lockdown seems different to the last one, perhaps in part because we know what to expect but also because not as many things are closed as was the case the first time round. I feel so sorry for the hospitality trade & businesses not deemed “essential”. This will do untold damage to so many businesses, and I fear many will go under.

Is your chiropodist allowed to call today, mick as you have a Covid outbreak in your sheltered accommodation?

Hope everyone has the best day they can.

Popped back to say Happy Birthday to Greyduster ?

Good morning from a sunny and frosty Northampton. Am up early this morning as it is the day for my weekly tablet, and musn't go back to bed or lie down afterwards.

Have just made my tea, and upset to find that the spout has broken off my favourite teapot, so it'll have to go in the bin. How it happened I do not know, it was fine yesterday. Luckily I have another pot, which I bought in the Lakes last year, and has never been used.

Will finish off my Sainsbury's order today, having found my Christmas cake recipe yesterday, and finalised what I need. Funnily enough, DS texted me for the recipe last night, as a work friend is in need of a good recipe. Then perhaps have a walk out to get my vitamin D dose for the day. Didn't see many folks out yesterday on my usual walk.

The first session with my therapist went ok yesterday, and we have arranged another one for next week. She warned me that it will be completely different to the CBT course I had back in the early summer. I am hoping it will do me some good in calming my worries and anxiety.

Hope all have a good day. Happy birthday Greyduster!

Gingster Wed 04-Nov-20 08:34:03

Good morning all from a lovely bright and calm Suffolk coast. I walked the dog along the beach yesterday just before sunset. The sky was ‘ awesome’ ( sorry for the Trumpism) and I could see a murmuration of starlings just along the coast at Minsmere Reserve. They filmed from there for Springwatch a few years ago.

My neighbour is coming for afternoon tea. Probably the last for a month ☕️. Might sit in the summerhouse with the heaters on as it’s more roomy in there. The other neighbour declined. Oh well! We all have to do what’s comfortable for ourselves.

Happy birthday Greyduster have a good one. ??

What a fab cake Sar . These birthday cakes get more and more lavish. Such clever bakers ?

A thoughtful day for you Bellasnanna . Enjoy your memories ?

I might write a few more Christmas cards today. I usually enjoy doing it but this year I don’t seem to have the enthusiasm.

Kind thoughts to all and wishing you a pleasant day. ?

BlueBelle Wed 04-Nov-20 08:39:01

Good morning from a blue sky, sunny east anglia ...wind seems to have dropped, now off to work, last day tomorrow for another month very maddening, as my part of the country is very low Tier 1 anyway nothing I can do about it except grip my teeth and cross the days off
Mick you ve done a lot of Christmas stuff I m only just starting

My (not very old) gas fire main form of heating has died on me although I paid £40 three weeks ago to have it serviced and declared fit and well so phone calls to make today Always something isn’t there?
Happy birthday greyduster and anyone else whose birthday is today

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Nov-20 08:41:02

Good morning All. It's fairly bright and cold in Polmont. I'm taking mum later to M&S to buy underwear. I'm not keen but my brother won't take her and she's needing new stuff. Apart from that, I'll have a quiet day at home. I expect a WhatsApp chat later with friends. Happy birthday Greyduster. I hope you all have a good day.

Beauregard Wed 04-Nov-20 08:41:55

Good morning all. It's a bright sunny day here in Derbyshire, albeit chilly. Washings in - got to make the most of it. I slept until after 7 today - almost unheard of for me.

We saw our 15 month old grandson yesterday, from a distance, so couldn't give him a cuddle. He was very happy and smiling at us.

More gardening today. I'm still planting Violas, but weeding at the same time is prolonging the job.

Later were going out for dinner - the last time for a while, trying to support our local pub before it closes for lockdown.

Happy birthday Greyduster flowers
Bellasnana flowers

Hope today is a good day for us all.

Good morning everyone. DH and I promised ourselves a long day out today. The sun is shining so we're off to the Lake District for a walk and the views. I'm feeling quite excited! It was good to have a reason to get out of bed if nothing else.....

hulahoop Wed 04-Nov-20 09:12:40

Good morning from a frosty West York's ,house upside down still bathroom change is ongoing
Happy birthday to all celebrating one today stay safe everyone.

Gelisajams Wed 04-Nov-20 09:14:50

Good morning from a dry Morecambe Bay! There’s even a bit of sun. That means I can make a start putting my gardens to bed later.
Yesterday I made the Christmas cake following various bits of advice from GN. Thank you. It seems to have turned out ok. It’s now wrapped in grease proof paper in a tin waiting to be fed!
I don’t usually bake anything. My mother didn’t bake, and if I asked if could help with anything she did she told me the best way I could help was to go and play in my bedroom.
The one thing she did let me do was use her sewing machine. She couldn’t ever thread the needle so always called on me to thread it. I used to make clothes for my dolls and developed a love of sewing and crafts so I’m not totally useless!
DS1 is still fighting C19. He ended up in bed yesterday exhausted but his partner is doing well and the children are still ok. Hopefully he will turn a corner today. I’m a touch worried as he has asthma quite bad.
Wishing Greyduster a very Happy Birthday.
Take care stay safe everyone ?

Grandmafrench Wed 04-Nov-20 09:16:37

Good Morning everyone. Breezy, warm and more ⛅️ cloudy today in ??. ( Do hope that’s not a fried egg emoji without my ? glasses)

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Grey ?? after your rather rude awakening. Think we can safely assume that winkling the Orange One out of the White House was going to be hard.

Bella ? hold tight to your memories. Blue it must be hard to have to plan and think ahead to curb your anxiety, but it’s so worth it. Think of yourself....and how much stronger you are going to feel. Everyone here must be willing you to succeed. I admire the broken teapot in the bin approach. I would clean and mend and save it! And this would explain just how bad I am at de-cluttering! Sometimes you just have to ‘do it’ and enjoy the clear space. Ha! Do I really believe what I’m saying?

Painting going on in our house today. That’ll make us both feel pleased at our efforts. Waiting for suet to arrive from Big A.......imagine not being able to start Christmas pudding or mincemeat because one of the ingredients was still inside a truck many miles away, my old Granny would be spinning!

A beach walk at sunset, Gingster. What could be more beautiful. I used to count the circuits of our little commune that the starlings made before they would suddenly..on some magic signal...drop like stones into the Gleditsia trees on our land in Normandy. Here we see endless home-going flocks around the various nature reserves, but the apricot coloured flamingoes against a dark blue sky are the most beautiful. That never fails to lift my spirits when they need lifting. No beach walks for us at the moment, of course.

Have a positive day if you can, dragonfly and get plenty of rest. Sounds a bit like a nice little change of scene, stilllearning. Hope you enjoy your visit and those wonderful views.

Thinking of you and your family Grammaretto ??

Be strong and just get on with life and smile, everyone. Wishing you the best of days and better to come. Stay safe.

With hugs x

Good morning from a still overcast County Durham.

Yesterday we took on the challenge of taking a trip into Durham City. There was a Christmas gift for sale in the cathedral shop I wanted and I'm afraid I didn't want to pay their extortionate postage costs. We decided to treat ourselves to coffee and cake. It was so strange seeing so many tables sectioned off in an area so often bustling with people . There were only us and two verges enjoying a break.

Inside the cathedral itself all the pews were well spaced making the view looking down the nave even more huge and spectacular. So empty too with the absence of so many of the tourists that are usually a feature of the city throughout the year. We normally visit the cathedral with the GC over Christmas to see the tree and the beautiful carved, wooden crib with miners carrying their lamps to pay homage to baby Jesus. Will we do that this year. Who knows?

It was GS 3's birthday yesterday and it was a real joy to see him at our front door after school. He was so excited to receive his present and talked non stop about the fuss made of him at school. Oh how we've missed so many family celebrations this year. My family are all local and birthdays and any other special events are easily organised and enjoyed together.

Thinking of you today Bellasnana. I know how sad you must feel. I too have lost two sisters well before their time and I carry them both in my heart. They were not only my sisters but also my best friends. Fortunately one of them lived long enough for my children to remember as their favourite aunty. thanks for you today Bell.

Have the best day you can everyone in such uncertain times.

MawB2 Wed 04-Nov-20 09:30:12

Good morning on a cold and frosty morning in N Bucks.
After a disturbed night dreaming that Joe Biden had actually defeated Trump (if only) I have got one load of sheets out and the second load in the machine.
So nice having D and GS for a couple of days especially as he “thawed” on the second day and was much happier to chat and play with me. Just like this time last year when we saw each other most weeks.
So yesterday as it was a lovely morning we went off to a local country park meeting up with one of D’s oldest school friends and her mother who is one of my book group friends and had a walk, play, chat followed by hot chocolate in the cafe. The “girls” now Londoners did make me laugh ordering their “vegan hot chocolate with oat milk” but the waitress didn’t bat an eyelid.
They left after lunch and I went off to the hairdresser for a (very short)lockdown haircut which I had luckily booked just in time.
Out for lunch today with 3 friends at Brasserie Blanc then it’s hunker down and get on with my knitting for the next however many weeks.
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

GrannySomerset Wed 04-Nov-20 09:34:25

Good morning from a frosty but sunny North Somerset. After the excitement of new curtains for the last two bedrooms (and I did still like what I had chosen) and the new washing machine to get to grips with, and friends to tea, I have used up a week’s excitement and there is nothing left to look forward to. So not sure what today will hold, other than a potter up to the village to post a couple of letters.

Thinking of all our GM friends with worries and unhappiness, and especially hoping that Gilly pops in occasionally to know that we miss her and are thinking of her.

Grandmafrench Wed 04-Nov-20 09:37:31

Welcome hulahoop keep calm and carry on ? ?

Gelisa happy about your gardening possibility today and well done on the cake! Less impressed with your COVID news. Hope I can say that you don’t fight viruses: you have to listen to your body (at whatever age) let them run their course and be monitored with some help for the symptoms. Your DS really needs to just give in now and rest...however long it takes. That way he’ll get the best chance of a complete recovery without his illness dragging on and on. And he has Asthma? He needs everyone who cares about him to have a strong word so that he will rest, make an uncomplicated recovery and save his dear Mum and family from too much worry.

Sorry for this outburst......let’s just say your post touched a nerve. ?

mancgirl Wed 04-Nov-20 09:39:16

Good morning from a drizzly Manchester. Mr manc is in the garage trying to find out why the heating has not come on this morning. Another one with hairdressing appointment this morning. So glad she could fit me in. I didn't want to wait until 18th December. Also out for early dinner to support a local restaurant before it closes for a month. Happy birthday Greyduster. Have the best day you can. flowersfor those with extra cares and worries
