Just had a notification from Sainsbury's about today's delivery.

They can't deliver our PG Tips or my wine!! The end of the world is obviously nigh!:grin

That nice Irish shopkeeper Mr O’ Cado delivered a lovely bottle of Laphroaig last night - I’d try him next time.

That’ll keep you going.

lol thank you for the laugh!

I use click and collect. Both Sainsbury's and Tesco have upgraded at no extra cost when they don't have something. You have to tick substitutions are ok and then you have the choice to refuse them when you collect or get delivered.

Got a Sainsbury's delivery tomorrow. Daren't check it - there are several bottles of wine on it! We like their house wines. Did a subscription with a company but too expensive for us as we do like a glass most nights.

woodmouse First time I've seen someone with similar name. smile

There’s no excuse for supermarkets to run out of ‘essentials’. They knew about problems from the last lockdown, and should have been prepared for this one. I had no problems with Waitrose last time so don’t expect problems this time.

Makes me wonder about my delivery on Saturday. I have only had one inappropriate substitute. Atora suet instead of yeast.

harrigran Thu 05-Nov-20 11:19:58

Sainsbury's order was a disaster, apart from the substitutions and no bottled water, the bottles of milk had obviously not been sealed properly and had leaked onto every item of food. All paper and cardboard was saturated and you know what milk smells like after an hour or two.
I didn't even try for toilet rolls, pasta or rice thank goodness.

Joking apart, if you want a few food and drink bits delivered to you, deliveroo will deliver an order from your nearest M&S. There is a small selection, so not everything they sell. You can get free delivery for the first 14 days. Just google it, and all the stuff comes up...

Kittylester, you have all my sympathy, running out of PG tips, I wouldn't be too worried about the wine.
Last week they were on offer in Iceland so must have run down their stocks.
Hope you get some new supplies, Yorkshire is a good alternative if not a better cuppa, IMO!

leeds22- see, i knew i wasnt wrong!?Taylors do make decent teas- i buy them for different varieties for myself- i might try the china rose petal soon.

Tillybelle Thu 05-Nov-20 10:55:45

Good opportunity to stop drinking alcohol!

Nannan2 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:54:20

Thats the problem with these 'auto' pickers though- they need re-assessing as they don't just choose just another brand of an item- they choose nonsense items instead! Surely the stores could allow a certain amount of common sense to be used by the actual human doing the selecting instead in that case!?Maybe they would get less complaints then.

leeds22 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:53:43

I hate Yorkshire tea too, people assume that if you’re a Yorkshire lass you must like the stuff. However, Taylor’s make other teas, some are so great I buy mine by the kg sack. Current fave is China Rose Petal.

Don’t drink. You won’t need loo paper then.?

Haha! That's a good job as they dudnt have my 9 pack of loo rolls and only sent 4.

I dont have subs for some things - wine and tea being amongst them!

Nannan2 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:46:54

Interesting 4allweknow- ill look if i go in a shop next time- i think yorkshire tea must be made from the 'rejects' of the leaves of the PG then.Even son agrees- yorkshire tea is not as good.(personally i buy PG tea granules & just buy PG teabags for son only) & youngest son only drinks fizzy pop& occasionally water! Be a calamity indeed in our house if theres a shortage of fizzy pop!

Misha14 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:44:36

I want Yorkshire loose leaf tea. None to be had in Sainsbury's at the weekend, will have to try on line. Otherwise we have plenty of wine and coffee.

I'm just about to do my Tesco order for collection tomorrow, I wonder what will be available! I might have to be flexible with my meal plans for the week.

Callistemon Thu 05-Nov-20 10:43:18

"Let them drink gin"

25Avalon Thu 05-Nov-20 10:42:28

Did you tick that you would take substitutes? I can’t believe they are out of stock of all tea and wine. Meanwhile I had a tea hamper sent me with enough tea for a lifetime. Wish I could send you some.

Coconut Thu 05-Nov-20 10:41:10

Just been told that redwhiteandcru.wines are now offering a 10% discount if you quote LOYAL22

Nannan2 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:39:32

NotSpaghetti- should have known it'd be a bloke!??

Callistemon Thu 05-Nov-20 10:38:38

En route- bloomin' autocorrect

Callistemon Thu 05-Nov-20 10:38:09

For the wine try your local Majestic store
That is, if you have one within 50 miles!
If you're stopped reroute could you claim that wine is an essential or non-essential item?

Nannan2 Thu 05-Nov-20 10:37:05

Id best tell my son he will only drink PG tips tea!
