Nigella's 'Pleasure Palace'?‍♀️

Our kitchen is used as a dumping ground by everyone else in the house, so no room to move in there anyway. When I do manage to clear space, I use the kitchen for crafting, and my orchids are very happy in there. But cooking - no.

I like watching her cook. However the food she produces is not exactly healthy using a lot of cream, chocolate and butter.

The men seem to love her, their idea of heaven, a beautiful woman that can cook. Some of my ex work colleagues like Rachel Allen too.

Her early recipes were good, but her more recent series have been a case of getting expensive ingredients out of her empty fridge or her packed pantry faffing around with it and then serving. Very little cooking involved.

Oh dear! To me the expression sounds quite unbearably cute.

I suspect the naughty-minded will have great fun with it too.

Watched her once, purring and pouting, heaving cleavage and putting her whole forefinger, smothered with cream into her mouth. It was both funny and horrifying. I get it that men may drool but I felt uncomfortable watching her.

Hahaha. This made me laugh out loud. I cook to feed myself...very simple plant based food. It is probably at the other end of the spectrum from a pleasure palace..

If someone else wishes to take pleasure in this kitchen and present me with a delicious meal I'd be quite happy.

Not a fan at all. She reminds me of Benny Hill, just creepy and like a 'dirty old man'. I certainly wouldn't want to eat in her kitchen...

No, my kitchen is not my pleasure palace, I don’t mind cooking but there are other things in other rooms that I enjoy more.
I do like Nigella, she’s a very knowledgeable and intelligent woman, there’s certainly more to her than cooking and looking sexy.
Personally if I had it I’d flaunt it.

I like Nigella. I've cooked some of her recipes and they've worked and been very enjoyable. The flowery language and coquettish looks just make new laugh and I do think she's having a laugh herself, it's just entertainment with a bit if cooking thrown in. As far as healthy eating goes she's no worse than James Martin whose recipes are also full of fat and sugar but my, how delicious! Like James, Nigella is good to look at too.
Sorry ladies, I think there's a bit of envy going on in some of the unkind remarks.

If being in my kitchen gave me a really great income from TV, book sales etc I'd certainly see it as my 'pleasure palace'...

Pleasure palace, no way. Used to enjoy cooking when in my 30s/40s but now it's just a chore that has to be done almost everyday. What other household task is takes up quite a bit of time eg shopping,preparation,clearing up and is done a couple of times a day evetyday. That said I do enjoy Nigella's recipes.

I hate cooking, and am not really interested in food, so spend as little time in my kitchen as possible.

How boring would life be if we were all the same ,I love cooking ,its my main pastime .I'd spend all day every day in the kitchen given a choice.
Nigella started her cooking career when her late husband was fighting cancer,it was to give her a means to support their two small children.I greatly admired her then and John Diamonds column about his daily struggles against the cancer that eventually took his life.
She went on to make a great success of it and if her style of presentation isn't your cup of tea or her food too calorific dont watch.No need to vilify her surely ?We all have to make a living in whatever way we can .

I enjoy watching her cook and sometimes think ‘oh must try that’ but never do. Delia Smith and Mary Berry are far better cooks and the ones whose books I do use.

I only have a kitchen because it came with the house! The sewing room however...

She must have a brilliant agent as she just keeps being reinvented, cannot bear her myself, she has far too much ‘air time’ as far as I’m concerned.

I love Nigella.
I loved her before she did the cooking thing and she was a journalist. She is very, very clever.
It was her husband, the late John Diamond, who suggested that she write about food (he thought - rightly - that it would make money for her and their children when he was gone).
Nigella is just sending herself up - it's a joke! Even the 'domestic goddess' thing was taking the Mickey. She is a naturally a rather disorganised and messy person.
I have her reading How to Eat on Audible, and it is such a relaxing, comforting listen.

I agree with paddyanne and FC. I first came across Nigella when watching the documentaries about her late husband’s struggle with cancer. I felt very sorry for her being widowed with two small children.
She seemed nothing like she is now, but it’s all a brand really I suppose.

I was waiting for someone to infer that people (generally women, let's face it) could be 'jealous' of Nigella because of the negative comments. It made me smile. I've never understood why some people proffer this as a reason to dislike someone, especially a celebrity. How on earth can you be 'jealous' of someone on the TV? Doesn't make sense to me tbh. Nigella certainly seems to be divisive though.
