Following on from the controversy over the Mary Wollstonecraft can you think of any statues of famous women that you like or approve of?
There are a few of Mrs. Pankhurst but my favourite is this one of Lucy Maud Montgomery with her Cavendish cats. It’s in Montgomery Park in Canada.

"Fisher Jessie" in Peterhead. She is modelled on the mother of a local poet and represents all the women who worked in the fishing industry. The sculptor was Andy Scott, who later created The Kelpies
Memorial to the weavers of Dundee, featuring the words of Mary Brooksbank. "They fairly mak' ye work for your 10 an 9"
Alice Hawkins, a suffragette who’s statue is in the centre of Leicester.
Alice was a shoe and boot factory worker . She joined the suffragettes in London and imprisoned for her beliefs.
What about the men 
From 2001 and outside Morrisons Supermarket in Jarrow Ellen Wilkinson MP- known as Red Ellen- leads the Jarrow Marchers - The Spirit of Jarrow

I don’t know who the model was for this statue in Blackburn, but I love it. I believe it’s called “Grandmother and Child”.
Mary Barbour statue in Govan. She led a rent strike there in 1915 after landlords raised the rents for workers. The protests forced a change in the law with the introduction of the Rent Restrictions Act.
Emily Wilding Davison in Carlisle Park, Morpeth. Her family came from Morpeth and her widowed mother owned a confectioners in nearby LongHorsley. She is buried in the family grave.
