Urmston, it's Greek. The word for fear of Friday the 13th!
My lovely neighbour is happy to pick up my prescription ?
Good afternoon from a wet and very windy north of Scotland. I didn’t make it this morning - waiting to get my
Christmas delivery slot and to speak to a GP whose expertise is diagnosing a chest infection down the phone. I know he is right, as I have have this before but it has been time consuming. Fis h for tea as it is Friday and I think I deserve oven chips for my endurance on the supermarket website. Off to read the thread and wish you all a peaceful Friday.
Good morning again folks ?♀️ I had to snuggle down on the sofa with the ten month old to get him to have his morning nap..........we both woke up two hours later?
Lovely post Grandmafrench. Take care all - did you know that today is World Kindness Day? I didn't!!
single
- whinge.
Thanks Grandmabatty! Every time I see the names of certain posters I hear the whine of irritating midges ?
I was on the Tesco website from 715 and eventually managed to get a Christmas slot on the 20th after 2 hours!
A good, late, morning everyone from the Gower. I'll pass on a weather description this morning!
I've only skimmed through the thread, my additional sedating medication has wiped the mornings out since Tuesday ?. It wasn't the bed I rolled out of on Tuesday, my WP said he rescued me near from near the desk - nowhere near the bed. I have vague memories of getting up to use the toilet so it must have been on the way back to bed. It's no wonder I'm heavily bruised. I'm fed up with it all at the moment and sunny side up has dropped to the floor. That's enough of a single from me I think.
Thank you for your warm wishes Susan and you Grandmafrench for hoping my bruises have gone. Sadly I think they will be there a while.
Marydoll sometimes these gransnet growlers gather and greedily gabble and glower, grabbing gleefully any good nature and grace from good people. They feed with ferocious frenzy, fancying themselves fabulous. They pick popular poster to plunder and pound to please themselves. They pleasure in pulling people down. Don't let these sad people pull you down. ?
Like I said I've only glanced at the posts from all you lovely people today. I hope you all can weather whatever you are going through.
Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️
Grannyowl twas I who said about midges, (she says modestly.) ?. It was for MawB who also was bothered by nasty people. Grandmafrench hear, hear. I couldn't agree more.
Dragonfly is correct! If I named and shamed, I would become as bad as the bullies! They know who they are, despite protesting innocence.
The snide remarks have been going on for far too long.
Time to stop them.
I didn't put on my big girl's pants, instead I put on my baking pants, the best therapy of all.
Chelsea buns are rising and you are all welcome to have one, once ready.
Just popped back after my walk. Well said Grandmafrench?
Another late good morning everyone!
Firstly Marydoll dont let the b***ers get to you! You need to take care of your health we all need you to keep us going!
One good thing came out of me getting the "letter" the pharmacy have just informed me that from now on my repeat prescriptions will be delivered free of charge, so that saves anyone having to stand in that never ending queue for me!
Not much planned, I might have a go at trying to sort out the "glory hole" that is my old airing cupboard, heaven only knows what is lurking in the back of there! I may even find the bag christmas stuff I lost last year!
Stay safe all.
No Annaram1 we want Marydoll to keep posting. The HQ police are rigorous at the moment even when it is unfair.
Perhaps its time to name and shame, Marydoll?
Good morning all from the Angus coast where the area of blue sky is shrinking rapidly. A lot of lovely people on here seem to be having a bad time, one way or another, so I hope the day gets better. ?? for all with pain and worries. Marydoll so glad you bounced back in, pants and all! You're amazing. And I'm so glad that you're back with us Ellan - it's just not the same without you. Also loving the vocabulary tales of the little ones. It's so lovely when they latch onto a 'big' word. Ashcombe I imagine your two totally inappropriate calls were the result of staff working from home. If they keep that up you could have a fleet of cars (although parking might be a problem!). Oh well, at least you know you were not forgotten.
May I join in to today's group hug please? Feeling a wee bit down as yesterday was the last of my tai chi classes until such time as we return to Tier 3 - or receive our vaccination! Many of us were saying that the classes gave form to our weeks. For me it was just lovely to do what I love doing, and I'm good at - and be able to have chats with other human beings too. Now I'm back to just me and myself again (and the fish in the pond of course, though conversation with them is very one-sided!). Oh well, it was lovely while it lasted.
I have just realised that I have forgotten to have my morning coffee! So I think I shall have a coffee break now before starting on the chores. Thinking positively, that's the good thing about having a permanent empty - just doing what you want, when you want. I do hope everyone's pains and worries lessen as the day goes on. ???
Lovely post Grandmafrench - well said!
Great post Grandmafrench??and?for you too
Good morning Mick and all who follow, from a lovely sunny Greater Manchester.
I'm so glad you are now feeling a bit better now Marydoll. Your posts are usually so upbeat and I love hearing about your misadventures.
Glad to see EV back as well. My late brother loved the Isle of Man and the song Ellan Vannin by the Bee Gees was one of his favourites, so when I see your name it reminds me of him and makes me smile.
Ordered a lovely gift for DGs which arrived yesterday. It's a play pyramid and I didn't realise that it's almost life size! It's going to cost me a fortune to send to Portugal. Well I suppose I'm saving on the air fare this year, which is good, as I have another two boxes to post as well.
They Facetimed us yesterday evening and DG1 has his new word - 'complicated'. He's 5 and when he got back from school, went straight to his table and said he wanted to draw a map so that he could remember why he was annoyed at his best friend. Now that is 'complicated'! This was said in English, which is his second language. The 3 year old held up 3 fingers and said, "Granny, it's 13 minutes till Christmas". I don't think he's got a time concept yet.
10 minutes later he told his daddy he thought it was time to say goodbye to Granny Sue as he wanted to watch a video on the iPad. Nothing like feeling wanted!
Have been sitting waiting to complete my order on the Tesco site. That's an hour I won't get back. Good job I can multi-task. I've also been chatting with a cousin, reading emails , this lovely thread and my online newspaper and still not finished my coffee.
Nothing planned at all for today.
Hope everyone with ills or worries has as peaceful a day as possible. Stay safe
(thought I'd posted this about an hour ago, that'll teach me to have several tabs open at once
)
A late Good Morning from Durham. It’s like a Summer day here (if it wasn’t so cold). Clear, bright blue sky and brilliant sunshine!
Hugs and best wishes for those in need and deserving. Saying no more!
Hope everyone has the best day today. X
Morning all from what has turned into a lovely, bright sunny morning after the heavy downpour of the early morning. This was not forecast, and I suspect by the afternoon it will have changed, but fingers crossed that it stays bright.
Was due to have the service engineer for the central heating this morning, but just had a call to rearrange it due to staff shortages. It's rescheduled for next week.
So sorry to read that you have been got at yet again, Marydoll. I don't know what's the matter with some people. I'm not blaming the situation we are all going through entirely, because my feeling is that those who like to snipe and put down have always been like that. I think though that as more folks have more spare time on their hands during Covid , it gives them more opportunity to post unpleasant remarks as they have nothing else to fill their time with. Keep strong, and ignore. ?
Well, I've a few jobs awaiting me so I'll finish my coffee and crack on. Take care.
A late-ish morning all from South Notts where the sun is shining after heavy rain last night. Nothing much planned today, just trying to fathom the knitting pattern which I find complicated - a bit much for my little brain anyway.
Sorry to hear that people have been nasty to you Marydoll what is it with some people? Would they be brave enough to be horrible if they weren't hiding behind a keyboard? They are probably ineffectual little fools in real life and they need to get a life.
Hope all is well with everyone, especially those with illness or worries.
Good morning everyone from north Kent where it hasn’t yet decided what to do.
Well said Grandmafrench; I think we all recognise those whose self-determined mission in life is to spread as much spite, jealousy and half-baked theories and opinions as they can. Best to steer well clear when they come over the hill with their self-importance carried on their high horses. They truly are not worth a second of your time Marydoll. Someone the other day (sorry, forgotten who) said they are like little midges buzzing around trying to draw blood and you long to give them a good slap; thought that was a great image! So, Marydoll when you come across them in various threads, just hear the irritating whine and take yourself off so they can’t draw blood! They’ll remove their spiteful attentions and aim for someone else; hopefully someone will give them a squirt of Repel spray!
Hope you all avoid any pitfalls on this 13th day of the month. EV glad to see the return of your crumpets for breakfast; I did miss reading about them during your exile.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe
Good Morning all from Harrogate with the sun shining (it won't last long)
So sorry you've been upset Marydoll, would hate to see you go. Love to hear a little bit about Glasgow (my favourite city).
Nothing particularly planned, apart from my exercise routine after lunch.
Ashcombe you have had a todo with your insurance company, take a deep breath and start anew.
Hope everybody feels better and tomorrow's another day.
I take your advice Grandmafrench
