Adele's set fire to the rain, heard it yesterday, and guess what..

Callistemon Tue 17-Nov-20 20:39:28

Oh no, Nimrod had gone today to be replaced by 'It might as well rain until September'
Now Nimrod is back again, with Don't go Breaking my Heart pushing into the background.

Mine today isn't a tune, it is a poem - Robert Louis Stevenson's "From a Railway Carriage". It is quite musical. Yesterday I walked through the disused Colinton railway tunnel, where the poem has just been painted, with illustrations. Among the pics are crowd scenes of real people with local links, including Alexander McColl Smith, Stevenson himself, and Sherlock Holmes (OK, he wasn't real, but he is standing in for Conan Doyle)

Actually, I've always fancied making love to the "tune" of Nimrod, has a certain sort of ebb and flow towards the end, iykwim blush a few peaks.

I'll get me coat.

It came on suddenly when I was mashing the potatoes grin

EllanVannin Tue 17-Nov-20 19:38:49

God rest ye merry Gentlemen---where it came from I don't know.

"These boots are made for walkin'...Are you ready boots? Start walkin".

(don't know why, I never liked it when it came out)

Since I found it last week - Billie holiday singing God Bless the child.
Momma may have
Poppa may have
But God Bless the child who has his own,
She wrote it after having a row with her mother about money.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly. I’ve been singing it all day

Never without an ear worm, always something sloshing around. Today, not entirely appropriately, it's "Summertime".

But I can sense Nimrod trying to push in ....

Shakin' the Blues Away from Easter Parade has been through my head since Saturday and the rest of the music.

I'm sashaying round the floor
Kickin' my heels up high... all the time since I heard it.

Jeff Buckley cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah

I nearly always have the same earworm - The Bonnie Blue Flag (what???). I heard it in a John Wayne film and have been stuck with it ever since! Weird!

lindiann Sat 14-Nov-20 20:05:20

Baby shark

CherryCezzy Sat 14-Nov-20 19:54:12

I nearly always seem to have an ear worm. Some are there for days, others are gone in a matter of hours. Most of the time they are songs I like and that's okay but sometimes not, not okay.
Today's ear worm is Lazy Sunday by the Small Faces. It's Saturday hmm.

EllanVannin Sat 14-Nov-20 19:16:29

I was singing Thankyou for the Music to one of the cats on my bed the other night grin No reason, it just came into my head

EllanVannin Sat 14-Nov-20 19:12:51

Sorry Callistemon but I had to laugh at that.

Chewbacca Sat 14-Nov-20 19:03:41

Me too Lucca until I saw Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras singing New York, New York with such enthusiasm and joy that I was immediately smitten!

Callistemon Sat 14-Nov-20 18:59:21

Still Nimrod

Sings loudly:
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance, what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

No,
Nimrod

Lucca Sat 14-Nov-20 18:36:51

New York. New York. And I hate it, hate that sort of music!

Blossoming Sat 14-Nov-20 18:33:56

Oops, sorry grin

Chewbacca Sat 14-Nov-20 18:33:55

During the summer months one of my neighbours had Cher's "Do You Believe in Life After Love" playing on a continuous loop. For weeks and weeks and weeks. I can still hear the damned thing in my head now.

NfkDumpling Sat 14-Nov-20 18:29:31

And I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. Bloody Killer Queen.
