So Boris has to isolate. Why no masks?

How come they have meetings IN No. 10 but no one wears a mask? Ok they say they social distance but not to wear masks is surely irresponsible. Maybe they thought no one would know or Boris wasn’t too bothered as he has already had Covid. Now he has to isolate for 14 days. Perhaps that means Carrie won’t find it so easy to pull his strings.

ayse 'Why are we going through all this whilst the powers that be are taking no notice whatsoever!

Simple - the 'rules' are for us, the little people - not for them!

Absolutely. No surprise that many people take no notice of this government, whatsoever.

This government has no moral compass and are the most untrustworthy bunch of people. I loathe them more that Mrs T. At least she had principles.

Do as I say not do as I do? There are enough stupid people out there not following the rules. Govt should lead by example. I think that should read “good example”.

I wish I could understand the alternative universe which the Johnson devotees on GN inhabit and in which the following behaviour is seen as appropriate.

1. Any meeting you want can be face to face especially when it’s to schmooze red/blue (whatever) wall MPs and provide a photo opportunity so their constituents will think the PM is listening to them and cares(???)

2. No masks and inadequate sd during said meetings and especially when taking said photographs

In the real world that the rest of us inhabit we have

1. DC/ ourselves/DP who are wearing masks in the jobs that cannot be done from home and maybe not quite enjoying the experience but behaving like grown ups and thinking of others

2. And some have DC etc who aren’t allowed to wear masks in schools

25Avalon I applaud you for putting this in chat.
I hope it doesn't get all political.

Ellianne Mon 16-Nov-20 13:05:52

Oops sorry, 25Avalon, I see that was the direction you yourself might have been intending, so I'll scuttle off.

Iam64 Mon 16-Nov-20 13:07:46

How come an OP pointing to the Prime Minister behaving irresponsibly (again) not following his own guidance (again) within a couple of sentences suggest isolating my mean "carrie won't find it so easy to pull his strings"

He's the PM. He's at fault, I'm no fan of this government or Carrie Symonds but please let's put responsibility where it should be and not find yet another opportunity to blame the woman,

Ellianne Mon 16-Nov-20 13:12:56

Good point Iam64.

Iam64 Mon 16-Nov-20 13:15:11

The four other MPs at the meeting Thursday are from northern or midlands constituencies. There are photographs on line of each of the five posing, it's said a metre away from Johnson. I thought indoors at work, masks are advised, alongside open windows. Our GP surgery has all the windows open, everyone is masked at all times. Why is Downing Street any different?
I'm really rather cross. Why can't this lot follow their own guidance. Why is it impossible for them to zoom meetings like everyone else. The idea of a PM who was out of action and very ill with this virus takings any risks at all seems madness. Will Dominic Cummings isolate again>. He was in Downing Street last week.

suziewoozie Mon 16-Nov-20 13:21:46

Of course it’s a moot point as to whether DC ever isolated in any meaningful sense of the word.

25Avalon Mon 16-Nov-20 13:50:33

Ellianne it wasn’t intended to be political but I could see it would end that way. Please, please, could we stop talking about DC - I am sick of the same old posts about him. He has gone, but he was only one person. Here we have several elected MPs, probably including Matt Hancock, who have no excuse and should know better.

Lucca Mon 16-Nov-20 14:00:42

I saw Matt Hancock on tv today being (rightly) grilled by Piers Morgan. I’m no fan of mr Morgan normally but he was right to ask what he did. Hancock weaselled out of answering in the most ridiculous way, totally unable to answer a question as to why so many millions were allowed into the UK early on when other islands closed their borders pdq.

Lucca Mon 16-Nov-20 14:02:26

Getting back to the point we don’t know whether they wear masks in no 10. Why not show photos of them doing just that?
Surely that would be good PR ? ( I shall expect my consultancy fee in the post)

25Avalon Mon 16-Nov-20 14:04:44

Luca, they showed photos on Twitter of them not doing that.

Lucca Mon 16-Nov-20 14:06:52

Yes I was responding to another poster who said we didnt know !

Ellianne Mon 16-Nov-20 14:20:49

I really think everyone in the country, including government officials, needs to stop using this silly phrase "covid secure" or "covid safe".
Nowhere in the world can be totally covid secure. Masks, sprays, gels, PPE etc. nothing can guarantee total protection from the virus.

grumppa Mon 16-Nov-20 14:24:53

Boris’s recently departed Director of Communications was useless at his job, and obviously bequeathed no PR legacy, even about taking photographs that wouldn’t backfire.

suziewoozie Mon 16-Nov-20 14:31:29

25Avalon a thread about our so calledLeader not following, yet again the rules/guidance in the midst of a pandemic and behaving as he did for naked political advantage IS a political issue. It’s about the abuse of power, contempt for the people and this attitudes and behaviour have been shaped and nourished by DC.

25Avalon Mon 16-Nov-20 14:37:26

Ok ok Suziewoozie but I really am sick of DC.

NotSpaghetti Mon 16-Nov-20 14:49:50

The thing that made me cross was saying that he had billions of antibodies (or was he oozing with them?)... we have no confirmation yet about how long these last so why does he have to be so "superman-ish"?
Drives me bonkers and makes him look twice as foolish in my opinion.

Totally Trumpish.

suziewoozie Mon 16-Nov-20 15:13:35

25Avalon

Ok ok Suziewoozie but I really am sick of DC.

But GN doesn’t work like that - there are many good, decent people in this country ( some of them on GN) who are responsible. citizens, who have tried their best to behave well and think of others over many many months . Gone without seeing people they love most in the world, Helped their neighbours, thought of others and then there’s BJ and DC. I’m sick of both of them, I’m ashamed tbat they hold /have held (who knows?) power in this country when we deserve better.

Shrub Mon 16-Nov-20 15:25:55

I agree with NotSpaghetti. New name for him - Boris Trumpson!
