The more tenuous and obscure the better!
My aunty went out with the bloke who designed * both*
A) the Cadbury's Chocolate Orange packaging, and
B) Buzby, the British Telecom mascot

I bumped into Kevin Clifton`s dad in a theatre foyer in Grimsby, and he told me that I`d just bought my programme off Kevin`s mum.

I was in the background when Margaret Thatcher was shown on the news visiting where I lived

I was friends with the daughter of the man who drew the Kellogg's Frosties Tiger

Auntieflo Thu 19-Nov-20 21:15:14

Lucca, we have a tenuous connection ?.

My lovely dad, sported a broken, misshapen finger for as long as I remember, from being injured when working on PLUTO

I was with a friend queueing for tickets at the railway station when the man behind started chatting to us. My friend commented that he looked like Leo Sayer. He replied "that's because I am Leo Sayer".

Tom Jones called me 'a bit of a devil' when I asked if I could have his autograph twice - one for my friend. I was about 15 at the time.

kircubbin2000 Thu 19-Nov-20 21:47:15

I almost bumped into Robson Green coming out of the toilets at Newcastle airport.

Grannybags Thu 19-Nov-20 21:53:41

My sister was on the same place as Little Richard flying back from America

CherryCezzy Thu 19-Nov-20 21:54:39

An attractive friend of mine and another rather plain (am I allowed to say that) friend decided to go clubbing in a club owned by Bonnie Tyler. My attractive friend was refused entry by Bonnie Tyler herself.
(That's tenuous I think)

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 21:57:10

CherryCezzy sounds like there's a bit of a back story to that one!

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 22:00:32

Oh! Just remembered this one!
(I don't know how it's slipped my mind, I must have heard the tale dozens of times)
MrC was in the next bed to Meatloaf in A&E.

A good friend used to work in a music publishers where 'the gofer' was a young guy called Reg. Reg Dwight - later Elton John.

I used to live next door to a Black & White Minstrel - Mmm, like that definitely wouldn't be a job these days !!!

Once at a charity dinner, I had a hilarious chat with Melody Sachs, who when I told her that I'd lived in the same town as John Cleese, told me just how hard he had hit her DH with a pan- in Fawlty Towers !

Had a drink in the House of Commons Bar after a private tour of the House and meeting Michael Heseltine. Another bar, spent half an hour with a mate being entertained by Frank Carson. Lovely man who loved his family.

Spent a whole evening in our then local Pub' with a very nice guy who was there to support his friend, a lady who had just started out doing StripperGrams ! He was really funny and took the mickey out of himself and told me and my DH all about his life and dreams and his wonderful dog, Fanny. A few years later I heard someone on t.v. speaking about his dog - Fanny, The Wonderdog - and immediately recognised the guy from the Pub. It was Julian Clary - he'd finally made his name and was on telly.

My DS when small, used to run laps with Steve Ovett and Seb Coe who gave time towards kids' athletics at a club in our town.

A very dull afternoon in Vidal Sassoon in London was once made a whole lot better by a conversation with Mary Quant, as we sat there with wet hair and waited and waited and waited......

Purpledaffodil Thu 19-Nov-20 22:16:32

My DH was John Lennon’s dustman. (Student holiday job) He met him one morning and John said......”Good morning Mr Dustman!”
While working as a tea girl at local film studios (another student holiday job) I saw Charlie Chaplin who was being given a tour of the studios. Ooh and I made several cups of tea for Richard Burton who was filming there. ?

Purpledaffodil Thu 19-Nov-20 22:19:52

And DH had a pee in a pub Gents next to Billy Connolly who was then in a folk group. The audience complained Billy talked too much instead of singing ?

*Lucca*, we have a tenuous connection ?.

My lovely dad, sported a broken, misshapen finger for as long as I remember, from being injured when working on PLUTO

That’s amazing !!

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 22:20:23

A childhood friend of my dad's was Lennon's chauffeur at the time when he had the psychedelic Rolls Royce.

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 22:30:38

Lucca only just seen that you met Dali.
How did the conversation go? Was he friendly?

QuaintIrene Thu 19-Nov-20 22:35:36

I used to deliver papers to the man who had the Kosset cat from the carpet adverts. He had about 8 white Persians, I think. It was hard to count them.
I love the story about Anna Pavlovas shoes.

FannyCornforth Thu 19-Nov-20 22:38:26

That's a good one QuaintIrene

When we were once in the audience for Question Time, DH made a comment and Shirley Williams replied with a put down remark.

Claire Foy came to our son and DiL's wedding.
They used to live opposite Mark Rylance
Charles Dance once complimented DiL on her acting.
While waiting for filming to start, DiL had a chat with Colin Firth.

At the theatre to see The Importance of Being Earnest we were sitting two rows in front of Prince Charles, Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and other members of the Royal Family. It was Charles's birthday treat. That was the third time I'd been a few feet away from Prince Charles.

A friend used to live in village near Gatcombe Park. Princess Anne often used to ride through the village and would stop and chat to her if she were in her front garden.

We sat next to Julian Bream in a cafe in a village in the east of Crete.

Speaking of Lawrence of Arabia Tigerdove, he was my Uncle's Godfather, my Mum told me.

fiorentina51 Thu 19-Nov-20 23:04:03

Fanny Cornforth. I think I need a bit of praise for watching the lovely Honor Blackman buy a bottle of Paracetamol tablets. I bet not many people have actually watched a celebrity purchase pain relief pills. ?

silverlining48 Thu 19-Nov-20 23:10:12

I used to gibe Mackenzie crook a lift to the local Youth theatre where my dd went to on a Saturday morning. Little did I know he would turn up in the office a few years later . Then he’s a scarecrow and treasure Hunter never mind a pirate. Who would have thought it.

Kate1949 Thu 19-Nov-20 23:10:52

David Attenborough signed a copy of Life on Earth for me at a book signing. smile

Callistemon Thu 19-Nov-20 23:12:32

DD was in a film with Sean Bean and another famous actor (can't remember who).
She was miffed because her scene ended on the cutting room floor. I said 'at least you got paid'.

For my Saturday job I worked in Boots, Kings Road Chelsea, where I served Bongo Wolf, who was PJ Proby's road manager.
