Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Bought a couple of books which I'm very pleased with. Think they'll be perfect for the recipients. Also some beautifully scented candles. All good.

Nanderin Wed 16-Dec-20 06:37:09

Morning everyone I'm up and waiting for my shopping to come. When I finally fell asleep I can't remember waking until 5 this morning.

cornergran Wed 16-Dec-20 06:13:48

Hello Night Owls. Another fitful night but fortunately not awake for too long. That’s certainly not fun Marilla, sciatica is no joke. Hope you have an easier day. Pleased Tramadol helping, Fanny, my body doesn’t tolerate it sadly, it fascinates me how we all process differently, Time to put the kettle on. Rest today I’d you need to everyone.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 05:55:43

Rufus three courses is not a light lunch!

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 05:54:20

Marilla I've just found and skimmed through the thread that you started about your issue. (7/12)
You're really suffering aren't you.
How are things going with the consultant?
I must say that I'm giving some serious thought to going private.
I'll wait until DH is properly back on his feet and then look into it.

Nana3 Wed 16-Dec-20 05:41:57

Marilla hope you are still feeling better and manage some more rest.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 05:39:01

MarillaI think I remember you saying now, I do apologise for it slipping my mind.
I also apologise if I'm repeating myself here. I've got spinal stenosis which I believe is very similar. They gave me amitriptyline for the nerve pain, I've given it a fair trial and I'm not impressed, so I've gone back on the tramodol which seems to be having a really good effect.
I will definitely remember now Marilla thanks

Rufus- I think that moving house might be a bit of a drastic response. Also counterproductive - I can't really see either of us packing boxes etc at present!

Marilla Wed 16-Dec-20 05:29:03

Fanny it is sciatica. I have had this current phase since September. It usually resolves in 4 to 6 weeks. But not this time.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 05:11:13

'morning everyone!
Nanderin glad that you've had an uneventful night
mumofmadboys I'm certain that the tea did the trick and that you are asleep as I type. Ignore Rufus - I did tell him that, because he had got the wrong end of the stick (or was pretending to tchhmm- he has the air of a troublemaker! tchgrin) This thread is whatever you want it to be!
Marilla hope that you have got some relief now. What is the issue with your leg, if you don't mind me asking?
Kim - hope you're well! What presents did you buy?

Hello Rufus! For me the pleasure of this thread is to pop in and out and not necessarily comment. That really wakes my brain (the little that's left!) up. Love your banter and your temperatures. Wowee..... Yesterday's success for me was finding the right communal gift for a family group. Takes time but I get there. Only two more Christmas gifts to buy and that's me finished. You certainly indulge in some interesting food combinations. Makes me smile. Keep up the good work!

a stair lift fitted last week!
Good Morning All!
Fanny C. I suppose that's cheaper than moving to a bungalow!
We said goodbye to stairs when we left our semi-detached in Windsor for this "bungalow" and wouldn't (couldn't!) manage stairs again. tchsad
Still quite warm 25C, sunny and very pleasant. Light lunch today,
Soup; Mushroom and Bacon with added Porcini mushroom whatever that is!
Cottage Pie
Sliced peaches with double cream.
Coffee.

Tried to get to sleep but couldnt!
Mumofbadboys I was told that the purpose of this thread was to "chat", not nod off!
The mug of hot tea is keeping you awake, so keep chatting! tchgrin
Now I'm off to my sunlounger where there's every chance of nodding off!

Just hobbled to the loo, thinking, ‘life is ok. I definitely feel an improvement in my leg’.
Hobbled back, sat on the edge of the bed and an almighty spasm hit from hip to toe. It took my breath away!
Haven’t felt anything like that for months. It’s beginning to ease now with hot pads and medication.
Meanwhile, Grey Owl is sleeping peacefully next to me, completely oblivious! Bless!

mumofmadboys Wed 16-Dec-20 02:30:12

Sitting in bed drinking tea! Tried to get to sleep but couldnt! Hopefully will get off soon.

Nanderin Tue 15-Dec-20 22:58:17

Evening everyone I have just come to bed hopefully no bad dreams tonight.

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Dec-20 11:52:19

Ah! Thank you for that explanation Rufus. I am indeed a bit younger than the average person on here and (shh) I'm not, and never will be a granny.
I may however be acquainted with the mobility scooters sooner rather than later. I got a stair lift fitted last week!
Unfortunately I know all about rancid bins. Next doors' idiot son put an enormous dead koi carp in their bin when they were on holiday in the middle of July last year. It was unspeakably awful and I had to deal with it! tchenvy

Rufus2 Tue 15-Dec-20 11:25:44

it wasn't just the rocking bin, it was also Freda's 'warning flag
Fanny C. I see your problem1 You're obviously one of the younger set of Grannies and unfamiliar with powered mobility scooters. tchsmile
Next time you're out watch for one and note the flag-pole at its rear. It could also be a pennant, either highly coloured and intended to warn others of its presence, particularly novice motorists who've just bought their driving licence from a supermarket.
Shrubs that are allowed to spill out over the pavement can rip the flag off.

I wasn't game to lift the lid and the Garbos turned up later.
Given that it had stood in the sun all day no end of cultures could have mutated! tchshock
Sleep well;
OoRoo

MawBe Tue 15-Dec-20 08:22:31

I don’t know if it was the toast and honey, the wee brandy or 30kg of hot water bottle - but I made it through till 6 when made wanted to go out! 4 hours is better than nothing though. ?

Nana3 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:41:02

Light sleep with dreams but sleep at least for me last night. Tea and biscuit now.

Marilla Tue 15-Dec-20 06:28:09

Hello Night Owls. Slept through most of the night with only two disturbances. ? I won’t comment on any of the new posts until I have read them properly.

I hope the day is kind to everyone.

cornergran Tue 15-Dec-20 06:09:02

Hello Night Owls. It’s been an odd night here, waking every hour for a few minutes then back to sleep, not restful at all. Hope to get out today for a while. That will help. Really disappointed, was due (private) physio today, she phoned yesterday to say her daughter has to isolate so did I want to still come. We decided best not. Isolation finishes as the weekend, she’s squeezed me in next week, just hope they all stay well. I’ll be so relieved when the schools close here. Our older grandchildren seem to have spent more time isolating because of contact than in school. Of course I’m pleased that they have remained well themselves, so disruptive for them though. Hope you all cope with the day, especially Fanny who seems to have been awake all night. Take care.

Greenfinch Tue 15-Dec-20 05:51:22

Speaking persnally I hope the holiday is extended though I don't relish home learning again. Our grandson is used to the partial support of an LSA (if that is the right term) and finds it difficult to concentrate.

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Dec-20 05:47:49

Yes - only three days to go.
I do wonder what will happen in January.

Greenfinch Tue 15-Dec-20 05:43:08

The grandchildren are 13 year old twins but go to different secondary schools as the boy is autistic and attends a special unit. The schools did know that we were shielding during the first lockdown and there hasn't been many cases of positive results though they are rising. Roll on Thursday !

NotAGran55 Tue 15-Dec-20 05:40:52

I have been awake since 0423 which is quite normal for me but but I’m breaking my rule tonight of not using my iPad until 0600 .

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Dec-20 05:34:48

Hello Greenfinch
Oh dear, that does sound worrying.
How old are your Grandchildren?
Are the school aware that DH is CEV?
