Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

That’s twice I have heard the shipping forecast tonight! Going to get a hot drink and see if I can drop off again.

Marilla Fri 08-Jan-21 05:29:34

Morning all moon
Ooh, don't know if we've got snow!
Will go and have a peep. Back in a mo.

Marilla Fri 08-Jan-21 04:56:11

Hello Night Owls I wish we had some snow. Just a little to raise the spirits. It makes everything look so pretty.

COVID test at the hospital today as I have surgery on Monday to remove troublesome bulging disc which has been the cause of sciatica.

I hope you received treatment at the dentist Kate and are no longer in pain.

I need to find something nice on the radio and listen with the the headphones so not to waken husband. Bless him, he has been run off his feet looking after me.

I hope you all get snug under the duvet and get a few more hours of sleep.

mumofmadboys Fri 08-Jan-21 04:29:50

Hi all. Sitting in bed with a cuppa. White outside in Cumbria. Have had 4 hours sleep. Will hope to go back to sleep soon. Often have a wakeful hour in the middle of the night.

Mollygo Fri 08-Jan-21 04:25:25

Hope you made it to the dentist Kate. Toothache and earache are dreadful. It’s a white night here. I haven’t managed to sleep yet and the snow is falling in thick flakes. Shall I get up and make a drink?

lemsip Thu 07-Jan-21 22:43:15

Kate54. Hope you got in the dentist Kate, I had a tooth out on 23 dec after bad toothache... best wishes

Kate54 Thu 07-Jan-21 11:05:11

So..... didn’t wake up until almost 10! Will ring dentist now. So much easier to be positive in daylight.

Kim19 Thu 07-Jan-21 08:18:00

Morning all! I was really late to sleep earlier but managed my five hours at last. Delighted when I looked at the clock! I now have a picture of a flattened chest with a cat strewn across it. Whatever floats your boat! Curtain twitch reveals a clean spread of snow. Well..... certainly tidies up yesterday's mess but also curtails my thoughts of a walk. Guess I'll just have to continue cuddling up in bed. Dearie me!

FannyCornforth Thu 07-Jan-21 06:23:12

Morning everyone!
Brrrr. It is a cold one!
Hetty I just read your post on the pyjama thread, you are definitely a woman after my own heart! Funnily enough, I was only thinking about legwarmers the other day.
Tell us about little dog please! smile
I've currently got a rather big cat lying on my chest, purring away like a goodun.

Nana3 Thu 07-Jan-21 06:05:04

Good morning Hetty and little dog. I avoided the news yesterday, might do the same again today.

Hetty58 Thu 07-Jan-21 05:50:48

Nope, not asleep - an early riser (due to a nap yesterday afternoon) and the little dog needed a walk around the garden at 4.30 am.

Freezing out there, so tea and toast, lit the fire, and now watching the news.

Nana3 Thu 07-Jan-21 05:21:10

I've been in that head full of thoughts place, it's better to be wide awake doing something. Off to make cuppa now.
Hope everyone is asleep.

Grammaretto Thu 07-Jan-21 03:32:51

Poor Kate toothache is awful.
I'm wide awake for no reason.
I went to bed too early as it was so cold. I've just made myself some sleepytime tea and am listening to world service and reading the threads.

Kate54 Thu 07-Jan-21 03:24:12

First visit, having read all the threads I find interesting. No rhyme nor reason to sleepless nights for me. Went to sleep easily after a busy day and a short read (non-fiction better for dropping off) but then awake far too soon feeling very hot. Ongoing dental problem one of the issues at the moment - the continuing pain despite an extraction last week plus the silly worry of probably having to ring the dentist again and feeling like the dental version of a hypochondriac. Have just had a cup of tea which I find actually helps the return to bed despite the caffeine. Just waiting to feel as cold as I can bear before returning upstairs. Luckily, no need to get up early tomorrow so that’s one less thing to worry about!
I wish everyone who ends up here later a peaceful night, what’s left of it.
On re-reading, what a very moany post - many apologies.

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Jan-21 01:47:49

Evening all! Still wide awake ?.
No reason for it.

grannyactivist Wed 06-Jan-21 09:42:27

Woke up at 4.17am with my mind on overdrive, but resisted the urge to open my iPad. I started work with a phone call from a client at 7.59am and I haven’t yet managed to get off the phone long enough to get dressed - going to grab a quick shower now before another call comes through.

Kim19 Wed 06-Jan-21 04:56:51

No, you haven't sent me back to sleep. Hope you manage to overcome your discomfort. Your lovely thoughts are just exactly that - lovely! Thanks.

Taichinan Wed 06-Jan-21 04:17:37

That's me awake again. I was lovely and snug and cosy but the eczema started up again. Now I'm wide awake. Saints and swearing come to mind. Trying to think lovely thoughts of springtime and birds twittering in the trees, sunshine and dappled shade. Sheep jumping. Actually, little woolly lambs - so cute. If you're reading this I've probably sent you back to sleep, but I'm still awake!

Kim19 Wed 06-Jan-21 04:12:04

Hello to all who are dipping in and out of here. Lovely little corner of GN I find. Never a cross or nasty word and that's nice. Maybe most of us are only half awake! I've had my solid five hours which is usually as much as I get nowadays and that's fine. I then tend to drift in and out of a state of dozieness which is usually decidedly pleasant. I often listen to gentle music - Percy Faith, Mantovani kind of stuff. If I do lyrics it wakes me up because I want to singalong. NOT a good idea! Hope those of us who are awake are comfy, cosy and peaceful. Lovely thought........

LauraNorder Wed 06-Jan-21 03:47:59

Watched a film until midnight. Lay awake listening to Orlin breathing deeply, fast asleep, until I found myself fighting hard to resist the urge to wake him. So in the end I got up at 2, came down to the kitchen, made decaff coffee, ate cake, read loads of threads, just had another cuppa and here I am.
If I go up now goodness knows what time I’ll get up, my clock is totally out of sync. Off to try so good night or is it good morning ?

Nannytopsy Wed 06-Jan-21 03:24:56

It’s quiet here tonight - I hope that means you are all sleeping soundly. It was cold when we came to bed, so I snuggled well down under the covers. That meant I have woken up very hot. I keep doing this! Doesn’t help that we both had a long nap in front of the TV during the evening.
Night night x

cornergran Wed 06-Jan-21 01:48:56

Hello Night Owls. One of my awake nights. It’s jolly cold, not helping me to sleep. Think I’ll go back under the covers and listen to some music, perhaps being warm will help me sleep. For all those awake, rest if you can. For all those asleep, I’m seriously envious grin.

Ohmother Wed 06-Jan-21 01:32:06

I’m still working remotely and had my first day back today. I was so exhausted I went to bed at 7pm only to wake at 9.30pm and now here I am watching an ancient episode of Gogglebox.
