Vision Disturbances: "Aura" Without Headache?
Desperately sad story of the assisted suicide of a grieving mother
Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls
See you later x
Pastie even!
Just checking in FC.
DH and I have always had dogs - working Spaniels. Sadly all gone now as DH’s health meant he couldn’t manage them and I couldn’t give them the time or type of exercise needed. We actually had 3 die in 3 months which was very hard, but the others were easily rehomed.
Christmas was fine - both DDs allowed with 1SiL and 1DGS. Other SiL at work. DH was tired after lunch and went off to rest, but ok to take DD1 and DGS home later. Both DDs live just outside Newcastle and we are Durham, so 20+ miles.
DH has had 2 Hospital appointments so far this week, another for later today and a 4th for Monday. It’s a b****r, but just got to get on with it, as you well know?
Hope you get some rest. Lights out now for me.
Gosh Rufus, that pastime sure travelled! G'day, by theway
Hope that's fresh Shiraz and not leftovers from yesterday
Kim No such thing as "leftovers" around here, apart from me!; even I've been known to go off!
That Cornish pastie didn't have to travel far. They're homemade at a local shop known as "Baker's Delight". You'd love it in there, with face mask of course, so no surreptitious sampling, amongst all the hot pasties, meat pies and all sorts of pastry delicacies.
In fact the whole strip of small shops is worth a visit, starting with our Unisex hairdresser to smarten you up to face the day, then next door is our Chish and Fips shop of Dim Sim and potato cake fame, then Baker's Delight and finally there's a Chemist where you can get all your medications including weight-loss pills.
No travel agent at the moment!
So come on Wise Owls! Only 2 more days of 2020 to endure, then who knows?
Sleep Well.
OoRoo
Hello George'sgran lovely to hear from you. It was good that you saw some family at Christmas.
Do you live near your hospital? Ours is just a couple of miles away which makes a huge difference. I know that I will have to go soon. I really don't want to, but we'll just have to see.
I'm feeling a bit tearful at the moment, I'm not sure why...
Rufus! Distract me please! I'm a huge pie fan, but I don't eat meat, so my options are somewhat limited. I just love pastry. The pastry on pork pies is the best! It's my guilty secret!
The dog and I have an 'arrangement'...
Those shops do sound nice, very nice food. Are Aussies really into their food? It sounds quite cosmopolitan, (whatever that means)
Toodle pip!
Hello all! Fanny have you heard of or tried Booja booja chocolates, please? Think my son is in transition to Vegitarianism and I read of these and wondered if I might buy some for him.
Hi Kim, I haven't heard of them, sorry. They must be vegan as all chocolate is vegetarian.
They must have a very high cocoa content and not contain milk. Some dark chocolate is vegan - I know dark chocolate Bounty bars used to be vegan. I had a lot of vegan friends in the 80s. It was very difficult to be vegan then.
I'm just off to Google the booja boojas!
They look lovely! They are vegan. They're very pricey though (£16 for not many chocolates).
I think that a lot of companies are leaping on the vegan bandwagon, and like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if there is quite a bit of vegan chocolate knocking about that is more widely available.
My vegan DiL eats Bournville chocolate.
Well, I've just learnt something!
If you Google 'vegan chocolate' all your scrumptious, fancy pants, spendy options pop up.
But if you type in 'accidental vegan chocolate' you'll get a load of stuff that you get in supermarkets, the most notable being Bourneville.
So the accidental preface will work for all manner of products.
Ha ha! NannyTopsy you've said that so much more succinctly than I did! I do waffle!
Infrequent visitor here, good morning everyone.
It isn’t that I’m sleeping better but I have been having a serious wobble and have been reading in the night to try to settle my awful thoughts.
I am so pleased some of you had a lovely Christmas especially seeing family, maybe next year will be different, no guarantees though.
We got up to snow this morning, it soon turned into slush and then last evening, with a huge full moon, it turned very cold and I guess the pavements will be treacherous.
This weather which has been very wet is keeping me indoors more than ever.
It is about 11 weeks since my hip replacement and I should be out walking everyday, it is taking longer to fully recover but I am getting there and thank goodness I am not in the previous dreadful pain.
Epistle over, I will return to my book and send you all extra special good wishes for the New Year.
Goodness, what a mine of info you all are! I'll suss out the bourneville bars later today. Yes, Fanny, one of the rip off trends of veganism is the high prices. It has not gone unnoticed by skinflint me!!

Hello Night Owls,
I hope you are all in good spirits. I have slept through the night from 1230 until 6. First time in weeks!
That's brilliant Marilla I bet that you feel great today!
How are you this week Fanny?
How is your husband today*Doodle*?
Is your husband continuing to make a slow recovery Fanny?
Marilla DH is getting on quite well. Thank you for asking. Catheter out today so getting back to normal.
Hope all the Night Owls are ok.
Hope your DH is getting on ok too Fanny
Good morning everyone! I just can’t get to sleep tonight! My brain is doing the usual nighttime thing of making mountains out of molehills.
I hope you are all sound asleep - like my DH ?
Hello Nannytopsy
I do sympathise with your thoughts being churned over through the night. Some nights can be worse than others.
I try to do alphabetical lists of book titles, songs etc to distract myself from the negative thoughts.
Good idea. We sometimes do rivers. Not worries tonight, just organising things!
Keep a note pad and pencil beside your bed and write down all those things you need to organise. It does help when the brain is in overdrive in the wee small hours.
Good evening FC and followers.
Bumped into Tier 4 tonight, but it won’t make too much difference. We obeyed the 3 household rules for Christmas Day, so at least we’ve seen our family recently, which is a lot more than others can say. To answer your question last night - DH is under treatment in Newcastle, so about 20 miles away. Some might think that’s a long way, but DDs went to school there, so I’m very familiar with the route and it’s less than half an hour by car. A bit of a break before we go back again on Monday. For some strange reason, I’m obsessing about getting the M&S £15 Dine-in tomorrow!!! Fingers crossed there isn’t a queue.
Hope everyone gets some rest. X
2:30 and wide awake although I have had a couple of hours sleep.
I have just looked out of the window and it is snowing.
Like many of you we are now in Tier 4, it won’t affect me as I don’t go out but many will be affected as businesses close down again, my GD has been back ar work for a few weeks after working from home since March, it has done her so much good but now she maybe back, at least she has a job, so we are thankful for that.
We usually had a meal in on NYE when my H was alive but have decided to finish off the party food which we had delivered so apart from sticking trays in the oven we will have little to do tonight.
I will be in bed early as is usual, I don’t know when I last saw the NY in.
Best wishes to you all whether celebrating or not, a few drinks will be taken here I think.
Hello Night Owls. I sometimes feel that by contributing here I wake myself up more thoroughly than I want to. I think it's called brain stimulation or something!! Often I just lie here and enjoy what others are saying. Nice....... I'm just used to drifting in and out of sleep. Used to bother me a lot but not any more. Just live with it and am exceedingly grateful that I don't have any time pressures whatsoever. No alarm clocks ever. Bliss.
