Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but dry and cold outside ,assume it maybe foggy as well here in Brackley .
Today , I will stay in having watched some of the local football team last night on BBC2 , will check the result later .
Mind you will be interesting being in Tier 2 , as getting out and about , when you have sporting fixtures allowing spectators back although limited , they still have to travel even if in same tier but limits will they track and trace and make spectators at say football matches pre book there seats so they can be traced if needed or will they have a Covid -19 facility at the grounds so spectators are given the test before entry into the ground .
Take Care,
Mick

You little crumpet junkie, you! Stay warm and well. x

Well said Grandmafrench!
Ditto from me.

There’s just something about your posts which always makes me think “let’s call round at Ellan’s. It just feels like home...the place to be. Sorry Ellan if this encourages a horde of wandering Grans to turn up at your door. Don’t think it’s just the way you chat about food, joke about life or brazenly ? peep around the curtains...and beyond! It’s more like - even when you don’t - you sound as if you’ve got life sorted!
(Bet it’s all down to the crumpets! ). Love to you x

Decided to go one better and gathered a bit of rubbish to take to the bin ----for a better view - love it EV ‼️

Good morning Mick and the GM team from chilly east London.

Your creative sewing sounds as though it’s ‘just the job’ KnickerQueen and a box of Body Shop goodies ... how lovely.
I remember when I had my hysterectomy I had bought new underwear and a new nightie to take in to hospital. The day before my operation, I was emailing my Consultant’s secretary and she advised me to take ‘big, comfy knickers’. I was so glad of that advice ... the new knickers went back in the drawer and the old baggy ones went into the hospital. It was the best advice I received...

Welcome home Urmston ... what a super welcome pack from your DD ... lovely girl...
Marydoll ‘steady on now’ ... as my lovely mum would say.
Gosh Cherry it seems you can’t get a peaceful night’s sleep. Hope your tooth is more comfortable today.

Online grocery shop this afternoon and then film night and a takeaway.

Good thoughts to those facing challenges today.
Hello to gilly.
Have a good day all. ?

Ashcombe Sat 28-Nov-20 11:37:14

Grandmafrench - your second paragraph should be published far and wide! A great mantra for all !

CherryCezzy Sat 28-Nov-20 11:37:00

A goodood morning all. It's grey and drizzly and a balmy 7° in the Gower today.

I flinched when I read that you burnt yourself twice using your new straighteners Marydoll. I'm sure you recoiled quickly so I hope there aren't any marks.

Thanks for the well wishes Lins and Susan, unfortunately ? I woke up in the middle of the night with raging toothache. Fortunately I have a dental appointment coming up in a couple of weeks ?
I hope your DD's ring turns up Susan ?

Welcome home Urmstongran ?

Stay safe and cosy everybody and find something to enjoy today.

DGD2 called just now, having just received the parcels. She is thrilled but hasn't yet tried anything on. the trousers look a good fit if held against herself.
As for DGD1, who has been feeling terribly left out [as well as very worried about her sister] has received a whole raft of prezzies and cards too, so is feeling a lot better.

Grandmabatty Sat 28-Nov-20 11:24:19

It's a late good morning All from Polmont where there are blue skies. I've been busy this morning. A food shop at aldi, then a trip to dd with stuff for her cupcakes that she had forgotten. Dgs is always pleased to see me which warms my heart. Then I had a trip to pick up a prescription which I should have done earlier in the week, but haven't felt well enough to drive. Then washings on and bathroom cleaned. I'm taking things easy this weekend and pottering gently. I'm impressed with the busyness of you all. Have a nice day all.

Namsnanny Sat 28-Nov-20 11:21:52

Good morning everyone! I can just about see you all through the fog smile
I shall be reading g a book by the fire today I think.
Have as good a day as you can and keep well.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 28-Nov-20 11:08:29

Good Morning all from a damp & chilly Harrogate
Marydoll I have decided you will be first in the queue for THE vaccine, I shall be second!!
Hail, grandMattie, The Knicker Queen!! You've done a beautiful job, your DGD will be extremely happy.
My DGD has had to have specs!! Now whenever he comes to me he will put on my specs, he is apparently not interested in wearing his own!! He looks very cute with them on.
Today probably a nothing day. Will probably have ti spend a lot of time sorting this machine I am using just now. Getting very tempermental. - Me, too.

The bright side is there, folks - just keep looking for it!!

EllanVannin Sat 28-Nov-20 10:49:56

Good Morning All x.
Not the bright and crisp and even day as it was yesterday, instead it's a dull heavy sky but warmer.

Glad to learn that Urmston had an uneventful journey home and what a lovely welcome on the table. So long as Mr O'Leary hasn't created any " mischief " with his sardine special, you should be alright for the Christmas rush grin x

Good news on the horizon for Ashcombe and her long-awaited meeting with DH, a lovely prospect.

GrandMattie gave me the idea of the Body Shop goodies as an extra in Ruby-Lou's parcel. I'm beginning to feel like that woman who won the pools years ago with her " spend spend spend " online so it's just as well I'm not going out anywhere or I'd be missing deliveries.

I thank you all for your kindness and understanding during this on-going family problem, it does help to share as you don't feel so alone in having to carry the burden. xx

However, it's lovely to hear how others spend their time and energy as it's not in me to just think about myself at this time. Things will resolve themselves one way or t'other.

I've just been nosing from the window for I heard a heavy vehicle engine running outside. Decided to go one better and gathered a bit of rubbish to take to the bin ----for a better view. grin It was a fire-engine parked in the road near me and at the bottom of the lane there was an ambulance but I was still no wiser as there was no smoke nor the smell of it but doubtless I'll hear about what went on in due course.

Crumpets devoured, Urmston. Lunch is crabsticks, lettuce and tomato sandwiches---like doorsteps but luscious.

Kitty I hope your roof behaves itself, a testing time should there be a downpour.

Enjoy your day everyone and Lins, if you don't have a snooze during the day you should have a better night tonight.

Take care all and stay safe whatever you do xx Thoughts to Gilly x

HAZBEEN Sat 28-Nov-20 10:48:49

Good morning everyone. Its dull and cold here near Heathrow.
Welcome back to Urmstongran get the thermals on!
Marydoll I envy your new glam look with the straighteners my hair looks like a scarecrows at the moment!
Dwmsxwg take care of yourself and rest, those shifts you do are draining.
Hugs and best wishes to all in pain or need.
Stay safe all.

Grandmafrench Sat 28-Nov-20 10:48:11

I just snorted my coffee at Wilmaknickersfit, Auntieflo. Make sure you have a lovely day.x

Good Morning everyone from a cloudy, warm S of France where I was really thrown by the news that the best hairdresser I have ever had, has stopped working! Such trivia (for me). She has probably had enough. Months of illness and surgery 2 years ago and then the pandemic. I was really sad for her and not a little sad for me too ?. Oh well, the search will be on after lockdown. Sigh.

I am so determined that I shall make Christmas something NOT to fret about and family are doing the same. Think we all have enough to worry about - staying upright. I am equally determined to look past December and start thinking about next year. That’s my focus. Next year, once we’re safe, I shall plan such gatherings. I know our village will celebrate. The French can do occasions, parties, celebrations. Wonderful. But the British can organise them like they’ve never seen. That’s what will happen, because no one is going to miss out on a chance to celebrate a new life coming back. We’ll trade a Christmas on our own for the happy thoughts of what we’ll do again when we can. Have seen so much angst about bubbles and disagreements concerning Christmas invitations on other threads. Think we just need to accept what we’re stuck with, refuse to contemplate anything 3rd rate and move past, in our minds, to greater things...later. You can see just how I’m determined to cheer up my weekend!

Mary - that’ll teach you to follow instructions (especially mine!). Please rest, though, and stay glamorous! Happy Homecoming Urms, enjoy those goodies and let’s hope that the O’Lairy ! person hasn’t succeeded in making you ill.

Do hamsters ? do bling, little B? All fingers crossed for that one, Susan. All of you lovely Morningtypes, have the best day you can. Take proper care of yourselves and please keep safe.

French hugs ? ?‍♀️???

Morning from S Lanarkshire, beautiful clear blue sky here, several runners have passed looking good and a trio of riders on their lovely ponies, all led by a police woman on her horse. Don’t know what that’s about but nice to see.
Welcome back Urmston, flight sounds a shocker but no surprise there. In spite of Mr O’Leary claiming all refunds have been paid, my daughter and I’m sure many others has not, in spite of many calls, emails etc, received £1300 outstanding. One passenger who will never use them again.
I had a lovely visit yesterday with my
friend who had the stroke last Saturday. She looks good, so grateful for her care and recovery.
Hope Kalu and MellowYellow are okay, haven’t seen them recently?
Have a good day everyone.

maydonoz Sat 28-Nov-20 10:30:51

Good morning from Welwyn, Herts, it's dull and grey here this morning, hopefully it will brighten up later.
Am just about to go out to do a small shop, and post off a baby gift for a newborn grand nephew. I expect there will be a queue at the post office.
There's a beef joint in the slow cooker so should be good for dinner.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

Gelisajams Sat 28-Nov-20 10:23:12

Good morning from a cool dry Morecambe Bay. I’ve just had an e mail that the flowers I sent to my friend in Shetland should be delivered today. They should have been delivered yesterday for her birthday. I ordered them in plenty of time and allowed for the distance. angry
Hope you get the car sorted Ashcombe I think these companies drag things out so they can claim more money from each other.
Not much planned for today, maybe take the camper for a short drive and a walk to see if the the battery fix has finally worked.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Auntieflo Sat 28-Nov-20 10:22:38

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a damp bit of Berks. At least the temperature seems to have risen slightly. I should go shopping later, but just lately we seem to be going later and later, and then the shops are busier. Never mind, I shall go with the flow.
BlueSapphire, sorry to hear that you are still have so much pain . I have been following your progress, as I have very similar symptoms, although two visits to the lovely physio, have eased my back quite a lot. Although this morning when I got up I was stiff, and am hoping that it wears off a bit later on.
Very impressed with your sewing GrandMattie, and hope your GD is happy with the knickers and treat bag.
Baubles, we used to have a poster on here called Wilmaknickersfit. Or something like that. Is she still around?
After your playtime with the hair straighteners Marydoll, you must be all glammed up now. By the way, I was going to make some more Mars Bar Cake yesterday, but couldn't find the Mars bars! DH swears he hasn't eaten them, and he is probably right. But where I have put them is anybody's guess.
So I made a Tea Loaf instead.
Hope you find your ring Susan56. I lost my wedding ring once in a bag of straw bedding for the guinea pigs. Never found it, so DH had to take me, and all 3 kids in tow, to buy a replacement.
Welcome home Urmston, enjoy the goodies left for you.
Sending best wishes to our Gilly, and to all who are a bit under the weather.
Have a good day one and all.

GrannySomerset Sat 28-Nov-20 10:07:46

Cold and grey here. DH has woken up with a sore throat and has elected to stay put for a bit since there is nothing really to get up for. I rather envy him.

Glad to know that Urmston is home safely and all topped up with Vitamin D. Think she will need it since it’s going to feel like a long winter!

Sorry Marydoll is still feeling fragile and hope today is a better day. Hope for a trouble free day for us all as we get to grips with long term limitations on our lives. We have agreed with both AC that we won’t see them over Christmas; much rather see them in the spring and both be here to do it.

Urmstongran Sat 28-Nov-20 10:04:12

Yes was delighted with the mince pies brook especially as I haven’t made my own for the past 10 years!
#lazygran

brook2704 Sat 28-Nov-20 09:58:52

Welcome home Urmstongran! What a lovely kind DD you have to supply all those delicious goodies... I can definitely recommend the Finest mince pies having got through a couple of boxes already this year ? ... enjoy !

Nannytopsy Sat 28-Nov-20 09:58:36

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It’s grey and damp in Suffolk this morning.
We have a quiz round to write for this afternoon, a birthday card and cash to deliver to step GD ( she’s 18 today) and then a video call with old friends. That should keep us busy.
Glad to see you back Urmston and fingers crossed for the roof * Kitty*.
Love to all who need a hug

Pittcity Sat 28-Nov-20 09:41:01

Good morning from a grey, damp Colchester.
More decluttering today. Have managed to sell a lot of what I regard as junk and only have one bag for the charity shop if and when they reopen. The one I volunteer in is not opening until March!

GrannyOwl5 Sat 28-Nov-20 09:40:46

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is a beautiful sunny winter’s day - at the moment as a sea mist was gently billowing around the house a few minutes ago.

Welcome home Urms; enjoy all your quarantine goodies. Your DGD will love the additions to her wardrobe GMattie and her BodyShop treats.
? for Dwmxwg after what sounds a difficult shift.
Our rugby team struggling this season BlueSapphire so hopefully they will have a good game today.
A walk on the cards later after a blitz around the kitchen. DH does the cooking - for which I am very grateful - but he leaves sticky finger marks all over the cupboards which all glisten in the sunshine!
Hope those with illnesses and worries have a better day. Have a good Saturday. Stay safe
