Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bright, cold day in South Yorkshire. I had a night of very weird dreams last night. I wanted to fish for trout but had to climb a mountain to get to the river but when I got there the water had run out so I crossed a road and went to Sainsbury’s instead. We may go out today as we have nothing particular to do other than put some steak and kidney in the slow cooker. Have the best day you can, folks. If there is sunshine, so much the better.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning from Morecambe Bay. The day is starting well! A pinky peach cloudy sky against the blue, frost on the cars, news that Iris is recovering well and Grammaretto feels up to posting. A text message from my friend who has just moved house saying she will phone later was also waiting for me. She must have been up early. She is a Marydoll type of person, also suffering severely from RA but she lets nothing get her down and finds innovative ways to do the things she physically struggles with. I have nothing but admiration for her.
Our search for a Christmas tree was fruitless yesterday and will continue today. Our usual place at Morrison’s wasn’t there this year so we went to the trees and reindeer place but they are only open weekends. A couple of garden centres had them but they were ridiculously expensive. My benchmark is cost of trees at the little petrol station opposite but theirs are in a net so you can’t see if they or ok or not. It may be one from there if our trip south proves unproductive.
Have also got making the almond paste for my Cake on my to do list and must crack on with my crochet. Think I’d better get up and get started!
Take care everyone and stay safe?

Morning Mick, morning all, it’s a bit grey and damp in my corner of South Lanarkshire.

Nice to see you Grammaretto and I hope little Iris is comfortable today grandMattie. Thinking of you Scentia, my brother also lost avery young daughter.

We put up some outside lights yesterday round the door canopy and on the fir tree, also hung a starry light curtain at the kitchen window which is at the front of the house. I’m just waiting for some decals to arrive for the window. Some of the young parents round our way are organising a Christmas trail for the children to spot the decorated windows so lots of the neighbours are going to town this year. Our house is on one side of a rectangular park with benches and paths where the children and their parents often meet so DH put some solar powered lights on the tree nearest our house. It all looks very festive.
Today I’ll put up my tree indoors.

We also normally have a day in Glasgow to see the lights in George Square, my children remember it as a big part of the Christmas festivities. One of them continues the tradition the other lives in Edinburgh so they have the market.

Have as good a day possible everyone.

Good morning from N Bucks where it is gloriously sunny but nippy.
So it’s 1 December and here we are still locked down. Whoulda thought it, 8 months ago in March.
Advent calendars at the ready? I sent the DDs a herbal tea advent calendar each , I suppose I should have bought myself one ?
However I tend to share Matt’s vision.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 01-Dec-20 08:31:40

Good morning from what should be a good weather day in N Hants. Living on one level and surrounded by trees, I can’t see sunrise or sunset from home, so I particularly enjoy the photos on here. Thank you one and all.
Another quiet day here.
Good news from Grandmattie, hope all continues well, and thinking of *Grammaretto.

Oh I wish we had an edit button.

Good morning from Staffordshire. Was an early frosty start this morning, left home at 4.45 but not a bad journey.Radio 2 playing Christmas songs and then a lovely sunrise as we approached Stafford.

We will call at one of the big supermarkets on the way home tonight. Our little town doesn’t have huge supermarkets so like Ellan will do a big shop today and then just smaller top up shops up until Christmas.

DGS,aged 2and a half doesn’t understand the one chocolate a day concept of the advent calendar so is a bit grumpy at the moment!

So pleased that Iris’s operation went well grandmattie and that she had a comfortable night. What a brave girl she is????

Grammaretto?

Hope Mary and Cherry have had a good night.

Have a good day all and take care.

cathymum Tue 01-Dec-20 08:22:39

Good Morning from a frosty Cumbria, nice to meet you all, have a lovely day wherever you are.

ginny Tue 01-Dec-20 08:21:57

Good Morning. It’s looking much better weatherwise here in N. Bucks . I can see the sun !

Glad to hear Gramsrettos DGD is doing well.

Hi light of the day will be a
driveway chat with DGS and DD3 and DD2 if she can get away from working for a few minutes. Luckily they live just around the corner from each other.
We have decided to put up the outside Christmas lights today. No inside decorations yet though.

Apart from that I shall be ordering Christmas gifts and doing some sewing.Hope you all find some ?today.

NanKate Tue 01-Dec-20 08:18:26

Good morning Mick and All.

A sunny cold day in South Bucks. I will take the opportunity to wear my new fur lined boots that arrived yesterday for the USA.

What joyous news grandMattie that your DGD is on the road to recovery.

I’m pleased you have returned to our warm, welcoming thread Grammaretto you will be well looked after at this sad time ?

It is our WI Christmas Party on Zoom today. As instructed I will find my flashing (in the nicest possible way) Santa brooch, warm up the mince pies with brandy cream and join in the fun.

It’s lovely NannyJ to meet up with old friends to talk about happy memories.

Bellasnana please post a picture of your decorated tree.

Good morning all from a dark and cold Glasgow.
Relieved to hear news of your DGD, Grandmattie and so glad to see Grammaretto posting.

I managed a short walk yesterday to have a nosy at the new houses which have been built in the fields next to us. The stunning views are all the way across to Ben Lomond in the distance. Even better, when the hills are snowcapped. Lucky people! ?
I can't believe the size of the development and how quickly people have moved in since I have been incarcerated. When we returned, I promptly fell asleep!!!

The residents have gone to town with outdoor decorations and since we can't have our traditional night out in Glasgow for a meal and to see the Christmas lights in George Square, I suggested that nearer Christmas, we go for a walk in the dark tn the new development. It should be pretty colourful ? and free! ?

Another tradition is for DH, my DD and SIL to have a day out on the train to the Edinburgh Christmas markets. We always have a very enjoyable day out and if I'm lucky, I get a chance to have a rummage in TKMaxx before we catch the train home. ?
DH read an article in the Sunday Times about virtual Scottish Christmas Markets, so I spent an enjoyable and expensive afternoon browsing the websites of crafters, unable to reach customers due to Covid.
Every year, we bring a Christmas tree ornament for each of our children from Rome, but of course I didn't get this year. Spotting some lovely, vintage style Fair Trade ones, I bought some for all of us. We do like our traditions.

Bella, I may copy you and think about putting the trees up. I hope there is better news of your daughter. I intend to put out some decorations in our garden, that should keep me out of trouble for all of ten minutes. ?

For all who are sad and poorly, sending my very best wishes. ?. Have the best day you can.

EllanVannin Tue 01-Dec-20 08:13:47

Good Morning All x. White Rabbits.
Still, dark and dry with that beautiful moon still beaming down-----what a treat. Doesn't feel too cold, but then again I haven't stuck my nose very far out yet.

Woke up with both cats pinned either side of me on top of the bed. I've probably slept like a " mummy " all night, stock still .

D is taking me to Asda later as soon as she finishes work so that's handy before the onslaught when the lockdown lifts tomorrow----unless everyone else has the same idea grin.
I don't intend going again before the " big day " when the crowds descend. I've lasted over a month with the last big shop so I can do it again. Fresh produce can wait until later when we do an early dart to M&S.

Speaking of vintage games Scentia, I took delivery of two that arrived yesterday----Beetle and Don't Laugh. Only £4 a piece from a hospice shop online. I've bought a few in the past for the children and they still enjoy Frustration .

By the time I've fed the cats and seen to the old Tom, it's now light with a beautiful sky and a bit parky out there too now that I've been outside. I'll have to shake a leg and get cracking in a minute, crumpets first grin

Good news about your DGD GrandMattie, those " buttons " are brilliant and take away a lot of distress. May she continue doing well, bless her. Children do bounce back.

Hope for a good day for everyone and I'll glance back at new posts when I can. Have a safe day and take care whatever you do. Thinking of Gilly x

Morning All

I read of lovely sunrises and saw Ashcombe's lovely photo and 'ran' through to the back room to see if we had a similar sunrise. It's raining! Ho hum.

Nothing on our calendar today either Pitt - but I do have a hair appointment next week!

Nice to see you Grammaretto. Look after yourself flowers

Lins1066 Tue 01-Dec-20 07:55:55

Good morning Mick and all from a dry S Welsh coast. Best wishes for your gd's recovery grandMattie. A gentle hug for you Grammaretto.
Nice to hear your Pennine weather report again Urm
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Alygran Tue 01-Dec-20 07:55:13

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s really clear this morning and the sky is streaked with pink.
I saw the ISS go over last night. Just a twinkle in the sky. It’s back this afternoon at 4.27 so should be just about dark enough to see it if the sky stays clear.
Good news about your DGD’s op GrandMattie. And the stockings Dwm
Look after yourself Grammaretto.
Off to the arboretum to meet a friend this morning and more volunteering bits and bobs later.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Dec-20 07:54:54

Good morning All. It's still dark in Polmont but it looks dry and cold. Grammarretto it is good to see you posting. Even if the days ahead do get dark, keep posting and let us help as much as we can. Scentia a sad day for you and your family. ?. Grandmattie I wish all good things for that brave little dgd of yours.
I have blood tests today so I'm up for a shower and generally titivating. Not that the vampire taking an armful will care. Then a drop off at the doctor's to pick up some stuff. After that, I will go to town if I'm feeling ok, to the bookshop. I need Christmas vouchers and books for my son. It is a dear friend's birthday today and I won't see him or his partner but I'll send a message. Then post the Christmas cards I wrote yesterday. I think that's enough for a Tuesday! Have a good day all.

Pittcity Tue 01-Dec-20 07:51:07

Good morning from a grey, chilly but dry Colchester.
Nothing on today's agenda...a state that I am becoming used to sadly.

NannyJan53 Tue 01-Dec-20 07:47:35

Good morning from a bright albeit frosty Black Country.

I am going to post my Christmas cards today, and the small parcel for my friend in Lincs. So that will be one job out of
the way.

It looks like it may be a brighter day today, so I may ring my friend who lives nearby to see if she would like to go for a walk. We have known each other since we were 18 and are now both 67! Lost touch for a few years, but now I live literally 10 minutes walk away from her.

Pleased to hear your DGD has come through the operation grandMattie, such a relief for you all.

Grammaretto my love and thoughts are with you flowers

Wishing you all a good day

Witzend Tue 01-Dec-20 07:44:31

Lovely photo, Ashcombe.
First official day of winter, isn’t it, so let’s hope this augurs well for the rest of it.

Gingster Tue 01-Dec-20 07:41:50

Good morning and it’s forecast to be a sunny day. That will lift our spirits in this dreary time of year. 1st December - can you believe it!

How lovely of you to post Grammaretto . We have all been thinking of you. One day at a time and easy does it ?.

Granmattie so pleased the op went well. Iris will soon be feeling much better, especially with all this love winging her way ♥️.. AND she has the excitement of Christmas to look forward to?

Pantglas have a lovely evening

Sar Im Wondering which Country Park you are off to ?.

We put some more decs up yesterday and DH and I compromised re tree (fake/real). We put old faithful up and bought a small real one growing in a pot. We’ll decorate and put it in the conservatory. Both happy! ?.

I’m taking the twins to the orthodontist today to have their braces adjusted. They like me to take them as we stop off on the way home for a few snacks to take back to school. 14yr old boys and as lovely as can be. ?.

Hope they sort the car ASAP Ashcombe ?

Scentia those games will bring back memories. We used to like mastermind (don’t know why it was called that) . Trivial Pursuits always caused a bit of hilarity and competition. Pictionary was another favourite. Have fun!

Good wishes to all ?

Witzend Tue 01-Dec-20 07:41:03

Looking like a nice day here - I can see a rosy sunrise from the kitchen window, to make up for yesterday - very dismal, grey mist and mizzle.
I’ve opened the first little window of my Advent calendar.?
Nearly all cards written - off to post them today, plus a little parcel for sister in the U.S.

Ashcombe Tue 01-Dec-20 07:38:47

Just popped back to share the sunrise, viewed from my bedroom just now. It certainly lifted my spirits and I hope it will do the same for the lovely folk on this thread. ?

Beauregard Tue 01-Dec-20 07:37:14

Good morning everyone. It's dry and brightening here in Derbyshire. As the sun is due to put in an appearance today the bed will be stripped (as soon as DH gets out of it) and the washing machine will be on.

1st December! Perhaps it's time for me to step up a gear with Christmas preparations as it's not really been happening so far.

Not much planned today, perhaps a walk this morning.

Lovely to see you posting Grammaretto flowers
Glad to hear your DGD is doing well grandMattie

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Bellasnana Tue 01-Dec-20 07:27:20

Good morning and ‘White Rabbits’ from Malta where the weather is good.

Scentia, what a sad anniversary for you today. Your niece was taken much too soon.flowers

Very glad to hear your little lass came through her op successfully and that she has had a good night, grandMattie. Hope she continues to do well.

Had a lovely walk in the countryside yesterday with a friend. It’s a bit tough having to wear the mask but we sat down on strategically placed benches along the way which helped us get our breath back! I will add a couple of photos.

No plans today. Still in bed. Might put the Christmas tree up.

Have a good day all, and hugs to those with sorrows or worries.☀️☀️
