Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but its also foggy here in Brackley this morning.
My planned trip never happened , seated wafting for the bus I started to feel as I wanted to black out and was breathing hard, returned to my flat and rested for awhile , it had not been as bad as previous occasions .
Anyway , decided to post my fried her card instead when I was Ok .
Today will be quiet , but to add have found having a paracetamol helped in a way .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning All. The sun is out and there are blue skies in Polmont. I did the pre-tree clean yesterday morning then spent the afternoon and evening putting up decorations. My tastes have changed so much over the years. I've gone from full on tinsel queen to rather understated. I have an artificial tree as it's easier for one person to assemble, although I love real trees. I visited dd yesterday and partook of a christmas cupcake and coffee. She was trying out a new recipe and I was the recipient. Oh my, it was delicious! mick definitely I echo the others about calling the doctor. grandmattieyou have such a wee warrior in Iris. Scentia get knitting the pink stuff! Marydoll making edible gifts for the neighbours sounds such a kind thing to do. I love marmalade and have made it on occasion. Its awfully fiddly cutting up peel though. Grandmafrench it's good that you're feeling more like yourself and raring to get loose with the steamer. EllanVannin I think a rehearsal of Christmas Dinner sounds an excellent plan. I'm roasting a chicken crown at the moment which is sending its own smells through my wee house. I'm bound to have forgotten people so a general hug to you all, particularly Grammarretto

Good morning,

It's a grey, wet, miserable looking morning here in South Yorkshire- a contrast to yesterday, which, though chilly, was nice and bright for most of the day.

Not sure what's on the agenda today. There is some ironing waiting to be done, so I might do that, and I've got cards to finish writing.

Hope all of you have a decent day and ?for all with worries and troubles. I hope you have a better day mick - don't forget to mention your episode yesterday when you next speak to your doctor or nurse at your follow up appointment.

I haven't read many posts yet, will come back to them after breakfast.

Take care all.

Good morning Mick and the GM team from grey, damp east London. Mick I second the suggestion for a call to 111, just to be safe.
I am so pleased to read that so many of the GM team are feeling festive. ??

So pleased to learn that Iris is home Mattie. What a star ⭐️ she is.
Your cross stitch advent calendar is lovely Beauregard and it’s story is poignant ... first chocolate Santas for the children, then treats for your dog and finally chocolate mints for you and your DH. Time moves on ...
A DGD Scentia, congratulations.

Roast pork for us today and this afternoon I will put the decorations up, I think.
All cards posted or dropped through letterboxes, except I lost one for one of our neighbours ... so l’ll have to do another for them.

Our internet went off last night, so no film night for us. I was struck by how much I use my little iPad for. Checking the weather, reading the paper (we no longer take a paper paper but subscribe to the online version). My shopping list is on line, my contact with family and friends is all on line ... when you add it up ... a great deal of my life is supported by the internet. Even when I have my daily walk I am listening to music with headphones via Spotify.
It was strange to have no iPad this morning ... I had to read a magazine and then my current novel ...then the internet came back. It made me think ...

Hope everyone has a good day. ?

Good morning Mick take all the above advice re breathlessness etc. Hope you feel a bit better now?
Cold misty frosty low bright sun. A really beautiful morning!

Gelisajams Sun 06-Dec-20 09:24:13

Crossed posts Grandmafrench good to hear from you.?

EllanVannin Sun 06-Dec-20 09:22:31

Good Morning All x.
Smells cold outside today though it's not doing anything at the moment, grey, still and slightly damp.

I woke up at about 05.15 and was blowed if I could settle again so up I got and made my builders tea in between pottering . By the time I'd fed the cats and soaked their dishes it was 06.00, time to put the news on so sat and watched that.

At 07.00, I put a part breast of turkey in the oven for todays dinner----a dummy run for the big day grin and I can smell it doing. Polished off the crumpets and hot choc so I'm all set.

Mick, I can only echo what others have said. Take it easy too for a few days. It's not nice when these things happen and this situation doesn't help.

Well I got a bargain of the year yesterday. A lovely new pair of the most comfortable Clarks suede/leather shoes in grey. They were all of £4.50 ! I won the bid with a hospice shop online, box and all including the tissue inside it. Perfect grin

Whether or not D will drop in today I don't know, she's probably snowed under with cleaning after the builders and carpet-fitters this week as well as everything else. She might pop along for a breather.

A bit of tidying to do and that'll be it, nothing strenuous smile

A welcome home to Iris, how lovely to hear that news. All will be well x
More exciting news from Scentia for next year.

Fished out a couple of mechanical/ music/ pre-lit Christmas items yesterday, one is a lantern and the other a moving Santa's workshop. I forgot about them as they're quite entertaining----to me anyway grin a child again.

Must get washed and dressed now and show willing.

Have a peaceful day everyone and stay safe. xx

Gelisajams Sun 06-Dec-20 09:20:54

Good morning from another damp day in Morecambe Bay where rain has melted last evenings frost.
I will add my weight to the cries of get yourself to you your gp and get to the bottom of your problems mick. You have had quite a few funny turns over the last few weeks.
Lovely to hear of you will have a little GD Scentia
Hoping to hear from Grandmafrench that she is feeling better.
I had a big wobble yesterday about seeing people over Christmas and was ready to tell everyone we would not be seeing them. DH talked me round (for now). We have really kept ourselves to ourselves this year apart from the odd walk with DS2. I think I’ve become a bit institutionalised!
Our local church is holding services again but we will attend via Zoom later. Sunday lunch, the roast in the oven, then we will take the little camper out and have a cup of tea near the shore and watch the sea and the birds.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Auntieflo Sun 06-Dec-20 09:17:44

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a very chilly bit of Berks.
Mick, I am going to add my gentle nagging to the list of folk advising you to at least ring 111. You do not want to be alone in your home, and feel so poorly that you can't!
I made a Boeuf Bourguinon, in the slow cooker yesterday, for supper tonight. But this morning I really don't fancy it, and so have portioned it up and put it in the freezer. Lamb sounds good.
On Friday night I didn't sleep well, due to the pain in my back, and so after a coffee on Saturday morning, I slept for over an hour, and was very lazy, although we did go out for a very short walk, mid afternoon. Pain is not too good this morning either, so will keep taking the pain killers.
After our cards have begun arriving, I should get down to writing ours. DH is no help, his handwriting is not legible.
Love your Advent calendar Beauregard, and also your little crocheted stockings Ginny.
I have a cross stitched Christmas cake band, that saves too much decorating, if I can find it.
Sending all best wishes for a speedy recovery to Grandmattie's little Iris. She is a brave wee girl.
Congratulations to Scentia's family on the news of a new GD
Harrigran, here's hoping that you and MrH, are feeling better.
Have a good day one and all.

baubles Sun 06-Dec-20 09:14:49

Good morning Mick, morning all from a cold and frosty South Lanarkshire.

Mick I’ll add my voice to all the others advising you to call the GP or 111. Symptoms such as you are experiencing shouldn’t be ignored.

What a gorgeous advent calendar Beau, it must hold special memories for you.

Your neighbours will love that ginny, our local knitting ninjas leave little stockings and angels all over the town for people to pick up and take home.

Congratulations Scentia, lovely news of a happy event for your family to look forward to. Hope Iris has a good day grandMattie.

The halls have been decked and my kitchen window decorated for the local Window Wonderland Walk. I’m looking forward to our evening walk to see the neighbours’ windows.

Have the best day possible everyone and take care.

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Dec-20 09:14:43

Oh dear, Marydoll, as if life isn’t trying enough at present! Still, your woes provided a smile here so your suffering was not in vain.

Have woken with itchy eyes and a runny nose but it seems to be wearing off now so will be fit to go to church for a short service. Cards ready to post tomorrow so must give serious attention to the few presents we do buy. I would love to enjoy a day shopping but know I would find it very stressful so I am not going to attempt it.

Hope we have the best day we can and that Mick is taking heed of the concern expressed here.

Grandmafrench Sun 06-Dec-20 09:14:20

Good Morning everyone! Sunny, blue but a bit chilly here in ??.
Feeling lots better and The Gloom’s have lifted so will celebrate with a day in the kitchen....steam cleaning all the surfaces, washing windows (because the sunbeams are putting me to shame) and then looking forward to roast lamb for supper. I know it’s Sunday but I have to strike when my positivity is back.

Went for a lovely walk yesterday and on our homeward run met a new neighbour and then was able to introduce him to another. He’s so excited to move here from Picardy and for his Wife, who suffers badly with Arthritis, it will be so beneficial, he said. Health then happiness, he said. Nothing more important in life. And so say all of us, I think.

This brings me smartly to Mick. Hope you can see what everyone here thinks, Mick. There could be a dozen reasons for your symptoms....anything from low blood pressure, anaemia, anxiety, to heart problems. But until you are examined you’ll just be guessing and seriously at risk of falling and sustaining an injury which might put you out of action for months! Sorry, but a paracetamol is only a comfort thing until you get a diagnosis. So please, please tomorrow tell us that you will make an appointment and tell your GP the truth about how you feel. As soon as you get medical advice, you’ll stop worrying and get your life back. OK ?

Missed your birthday, Pants. Sounds as if it was a good one with, hopefully, chamber pots of fizz ?to mark the day. Lovely news for your family Scentia. One of each. So pleased to hear little Iris is safely home, Mattie. Hard work ahead but you know she’ll get there. She just needs to hope that Knicker Queen Productions stays in business! ! Have yourselves a better day, Cherry and Mary. Keep on making us laugh with Tales from Ellan Towers, Ellan. You really have got life sussed!

Please get lots of rest if you still have that pain, Sar. Fingers crossed that the horsey outing allays some fears for your DD, Beau. I so love horses but they’re smart enough to spot an idiot in me. I’ll feed them and groom them, walk them and happily poo pick, but once astride one I’m no leader. So they do just what they like and I always come off worse! Came off....since I’m too old to ride now and since ‘came off’ should have been my middle name, at times I was tempted to take up something less hair-raising: wing walking, parachute jumping, white water rafting, swimming with sharks - you know, that sort of thing?! ? With me, they have NO brakes. That’s all I can say!

Sending thanks to all those who checked up on me. It has been said lots of times what a wonderful thread this is, but I’m saying it again. You’re all pulling together and supporting each other and just cracking on with life...however hard. And it shows. I couldn’t wish to be amongst a lovelier bunch of people. ?

Wishing everyone a really good day. As ever - from across la Manche and Downalot - hugs.
?‍♀️???

Marydoll Sun 06-Dec-20 09:06:00

Ginny42 good to see you back posting!

Marydoll Sun 06-Dec-20 09:03:26

Good morning Mick and all from a very chilly Glasgow, where it's only 3°C. DH has delayed going for the papers, as the cars are thick with frost.

Mick, what an upsetting experience for you. I can only nag you too and ask you to contact your doctor, as speculation by us of what's wrong, may only add to your anxiety.

We had a lovely surprise yesterday when one of our neighbours came to the door and asked DH if she could speak to me. I had been lying down, as I have been feeling pretty ropey this week. I seem to be doing a lot of that recently. It's so blooming frustrating.

Instead of giving everyone in our cul de sac a Christmas card, our neighbour had decided to make us all a 2020 bauble for our Christmas tree. What a lovely thought, it really cheered me up, as I haven't had social contact with anyone for the last week, apart from DH that is. ? Its a lonely business this shielding carry on.

Weeks ago, I had decided that I would make festive gift bags of confectionary or Christmas biscuits and little jars of marmalade, as a treat for my neighbours. I plan to make the marmalade this week, as I found a tin of Mamade oranges at the back of the cupboard. That should keep me out of mischief for all of ten minutes. I thought I would add cointreau or whisky to it. We are a very up market cul de sac! ?

Unfortunately, I had a bit of a mishap yesterday. Our vacuum cleaner has been playing up for weeks, so DH decided he would strip it down and deep clean it. This may seem like a good plan, but where Mr Hash and Bash is involved, perhaps not.
I suggested he look at the manual online, but he didn't need one
After about half an hour of biting my tongue, I went online found a video of how to strip the cleaner right down. Just about as I was about to interfere intervene, I heard an expletive not from me!. DH had broken off a part of the cleaner, which despite me saying was not a good idea, was still resting across his knee.
This is the very part of the cleaner which was replaced last week after weeks of searching by me! ? As you can imagine, I was not amused and you may be able to guess from where the expletives came this time! ?

Do you have any superglue, he asked. I'm going to glue it back on. ??
The glue is in a secret place, as he cannot be trusted with it. ?
I retrieved the glue, but unfortunately the tube burst and my fingers became stuck together. Oh, dear, I said in a mild voice. I gave DH another tube and went to finish sandpapering my hands to get the glue off. ?

I came back to find the cleaner resting on my lovely kitchen table and DH trying to glue on the broken with nothing underneath to protect the table. ?
I retreated to my haven craft room and decided to look and see if KLM had refunded our fares for our cancelled Rome trip into the bank account.
Asked by my bank to use the fingertip sensor on my phone to receive a security code, my fingerprint wasn't recognised. ?
The reason, there was still glue on my fingers and I couldn't get it off! ?

Hoping to see Grammaretto and poorly Grandmafrench posting today. Wishing all with pain and sorrow a bearable Sunday. ?

Grandmadougal Sun 06-Dec-20 08:55:19

Good morning from a dark, damp Norfolk but it looks like it might brighten later.

Spent the day yesterday decorating the tree, DGS picked it in a field of hundreds, he was very chuffed with it. Usually he decorates it with me and DIL but on my lonesome this year DH no help on that score.

Brief walk planned for later and delivering Christmas cards to local friends.

Thinking of everyone who feels under the weather today.

Anniebach Sun 06-Dec-20 08:54:51

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Grammaretto Sun 06-Dec-20 08:53:19

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The snow has mostly melted in the garden though it's still on the hills.
Yes Mick I join in the chorus for another check up. It may be something simple to fix. Let's hope so.

Lovely news about the expected baby Scentia
We had a girl after 3 boys and I was surprised by just how different it was.
What a brave wee star your DGD is grandMatte

I bought Christmas stamps a while back so I suppose I should write some cards but I have received an avalanche of wonderful condolence cards, so I rather hope people don't think I need a C'mas card as well.

DS returns home tomorrow so today will be his last day . What a visit it has been!

I hope that everyone's day goes well.

Ginny42 Sun 06-Dec-20 08:47:20

Good morning everyone from Cheshire. I was tempted back by a GN friend and find that I've really missed you all and your contagious good humour each morning. I have been busy with work projects and sort of hibernating. (I see Ginny is posting, so I'm the Ginny from Cheshire.)

Oh Mick! What a fright you had and the others are right when they advise a chat with the Doc. I felt quite unwell on a walk the other day, feeling nauseous and generally yuk. It was the cold. Once I was home it took me a while to warm up but I was as right as rain after a little while. I foolishly hadn't thought it was that cold and had worn a thin coat. hmm

Have a lovely day everyone. I'm off to walk in the woods shortly. The trees are now majestic statues stripped of their leaves, which are festooned like golden baubles on the smaller pines and holly bushes beneath.

dragonfly46 Sun 06-Dec-20 08:41:58

I second what others have said Mick a call to 111 wouldn’t go amiss. Maybe you too Sar if you don’t feel better today.

dragonfly46 Sun 06-Dec-20 08:37:40

Good morning it’s dry now in my part of Leicestershire so DH and I will do our usual trot round the block.

Afterwards the Christmas tree will be decorated.
The cards are ready to go but still seems a little early. I could wrap the presents and try and think of a way to get them all to Brighton.
I have now had 3 letters from Matt Hancock advising me not to see anyone over Christmas!

Great news Scentia and lovely to hear Iris is home and at the start of her recovery.

harrigran Sun 06-Dec-20 08:37:01

Good morning from a mildish NE.
Had a quiet day yesterday, spent mostly in the kitchen.
Several deliveries throughout the day, mostly from one source but all in separate packages.
DH had a long rest in bed with his book and I watched what he calls girlie type programmes.
Must write rest of cards today.
Finished my novel set in Provence last night so off to look for another feel good one from my latest acquisitions.
I gave a bagful to my sister on Friday and she expressed surprise, why ?, I have been stuck in the house for the best part of a year.
Take care Mick and try and see your GP. I rang mine the other day and got a recorded message stating that there are no walk in or face to face appointments at the surgery for advice ring 111.

Oldbutstilluseful Sun 06-Dec-20 08:27:19

Good morning from N Hants. Pretty grim weather today, very cold and heavy rain expected, deep joy.
Loved the Advent Calendar Beauregard, hard to believe it’s 25 years old.
Ashcombe I know just what you mean about Christmas decorating. I ran out of steam yesterday so my halls are only half decked. Oh well. I won’t be going anywhere today so hopefully will manage to finish off. Ridiculous really as it’s only minor titivating, nothing like years ago. ?
I hope everyone has a good Sunday, and another voice added to those who have shown concern Mick. Please get yourself checked out.

Greyduster Sun 06-Dec-20 08:27:11

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is wet here in South Yorkshire. We are supposed to be going over to watch GS play football, but I think that, sadly, we may have to give it a miss. I have a problem with my ear which kept me awake in the night anyway. Nothing much else on except a general tidy up and a roast dinner - if I can stay awake that long!
Mick good advice on here. We are all worried for you. Do take care.
Have the best Sunday you can folks.

MawBe Sun 06-Dec-20 08:24:56

Good morning everyone from N Bucks where it is foggy and freezing! I’m glad I’m not going anywhere and hope nobody else has to go far!
Did I say I was going to write my Christmas cards yesterday? I lied blush but I promise I’ll make serious inroads today - honest!
Now Mick - I agree with what everybody else has said. It might “only” have been low blood pressure, but the important thing is why.
A face to face check up is really the only way as you don’t want this to happen again at an even worse time and end up in A&E do you?
Lovely news about the new granddaughter Scentia (I have to admit mine - the only one, with 4 grandsons- is a little terror, which I think has come as a surprise to her mummy and daddy who thought they’d got this parenting lark sussed)
Iris sounds a remarkable little girl- so young but so brave ?
Wishing you all a pleasant day! !

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Dec-20 08:23:50

Good morning all from a cold, dull S Hants. Mick, heed the advice.
Last two cards to post today, then just the neighbours. Someone coming today to collect our used boxes from packing up stuff and roast chicken for dinner. Scentia congratulations on your news, how lovely.
Have a gentle day all.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Dec-20 08:16:59

Good morning Mick and all

Take care Mick GP visit sounds the sensible thing to do.

Beauregard as much as I miss our horses, on wet winter mornings it’s now a luxury not to have to go to the yard or try to catch a psycho pony in a five acre field!!

Scentia how lovely to have the arrival of your GD to look forward to.

Sar53 take care and rest.

We are going out for Sunday lunch today what a joy, especially as I spent several hours in the kitchen baking yesterday. Nothing else planned apart from the Grand Prix .

Keep safe and well folks ??
