Personally I would rather UK left EU without a deal than give up our freedom. We can avoid buying French food and wine, on the wholecwe drink new world wines anyway.
British cheeses are just as good.

As for travel, we all managed before freedom of movement and can easily go back.

The thought of caving into europe and their desire to annexe uk fills me with horror

I forgot, question

6.- will they likely prioretise and support transit to a country that used to be a strong and respected partner, but not only rejected them later, but did everything to undermine them and destroy them, lying to them, signing contracts they had no intention of fulfilling and breaking International Law to renege on them?

Sad for him and his staff of course- but sadder for all the fabulous British artisans and their staff who make such fabulous cheeses.

biba70 Fri 11-Dec-20 19:38:16

talking about British cheeses, and they are fantastic- a friend imports those by the ton into the EU and has been a fabulous ambassador for British cheeses and other products.

He announced today that No Deal Brexit will send him to the wall as exporting from UK will be just impossible or prohibitively expensive. Just one, amongst many.

I am afraid there are shortages of medicines the world over- which is why the EU have pulled together to create a strategy to deal with this as a strong group

www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/headlines/society/20200709STO83006/medicine-shortages-in-the-eu-causes-and-solutions

Last year, when some of us warned about medicne shortages and difficulty in importing into UK due to Brexit- we were told that we were scare mongering, and I was told that it was cruel and unfair, as some GN members relied on such medicines and cancer treating isotopes for themselves and loved ones. The warning were not meant to scare, but to highlight just how serious this was and had to be countered.

Now the same people reply to someone here who says she is concerned about her son's medication, totally insensitively, and cruelly- 'oh but it will be OK, we will manage- and drugs can be flown in.

Question 1- how much more will it cost to fly in medicines?

2 - will suppliers be more likely to sell to strong large well-organised groups - ordering en masse?

3. - in a scenario where Sterling is tanking- will the suppliers working in Dollars or Euros sell to those with strong currencies, leading to much higher profits, or to those with low, unstable and dropping currencies?

4. - will countries producing and selling those drugs, like Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, etc- prioritise countries that they are in a strong partnership with, and linked by strong international agreements- or those who have turned them down

5. - are they most likely to sell to countries with no internal borders, easy to access without red tape, and without tariffs, or those who are not?

Varia, your posts are hilarious, Fraudulent election ? Where did you dream that up from. News Flash. Brexit has happened, live with it, no going back. I am far from happy the way things are, but this is it, so we have to make a fist if it. To continuously drum on about the past is pointless and unrealistic.

The fraudulent referendum of 2016 was won by lies, cheating and foreign interference.

The fact that brexit has been allowed to happen does not change the truth of how it happened.

Yes, out of order, Lucca.

Theres a lot of harsh sounds in those three words I'll admit Lucca.

varian Fri 11-Dec-20 18:49:32

The use of that language tells us a lot about those who still support brexit.

Just don't you dare stockpile all the Somerset Brie, Calli

Leave some for me. tchwink

Just a bit further west mesdames, try Cornish blue cheese. It's a lot creamier than Stilton and has more of a gorgonzola flavour. Nicer than the very dry Saint Agur but not quite up there with the strong taste of Roquefort or Bleu d'Auvergene.

PS. why do I always enter the discussion when good food and wines are mentioned?

Well Parky as you have acknowledged that your Leave vote will hurt us all.

Please remember that only about half of those who voted in the fraudulent referendum of 2016, voted leave, and that was about 17 million out of a population of 67 million, (about a quarter or one in four of the UK population), you should be prepared to bear the cost of your vote, not only to yourself but to the other three UK citizens whose future you have damaged.

I've been busy, what did I miss.

Sorry, merlotgran, I ate it, but did notice the very tiny piece of Brie that came in a Christmas pack of cheese is French.

Medication can be flown in.

My life saving medication is made in the EU, I have to have faith in the supply chain. I will not make myself ill worrying about a maybe

So many do though GG13
My own family rely on life saving medications too, it isn’t the
Remainers own preserve, but there will be measures put in place to make sure necessary drugs get through to those who need it.
