I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Hellogirl1 Fri 08-Jan-21 20:41:42

Annsixty, take good care of yourself, and hurry back x
I`ve now been given another delivery date fort my sofa, next Thursday, but the upholsterer who`s putting it back together can`t come till Saturday morning. One of these days I might get to sit on my new sofa!
I`ve just been out to 5the bin, it`s flippin` fleein` out there, as my grandma would have said, BRRRRR!!!!

Jaxjacky Fri 08-Jan-21 18:42:28

LauraNorder can I join your dry January please...

Nannytopsy Fri 08-Jan-21 18:26:03

Soop this is just ridiculous! Hope it is sorted and hugely compensated soon. Just think of the fun you could have with compensation once you can travel.
Ann best wishes to you. Drop in when you can ?
What with Covid and USA, we have started mixing cocktails. My favourite is a Manhattan! ?
DiL wants a knitted blanket for DGD. I am about 1/4 through it, her 5th birthday is in March. No pressure then!

soop Fri 08-Jan-21 17:56:51

Sorry to dash. I've a few jobs that I really must attend to and the evening meal is moments away.

I shall return tomorrow. I leave you all with virtual hugs. x smile moon

LauraNorder Fri 08-Jan-21 17:49:27

Annsixty sorry you are having a wobble. Not a nice feeling. Hope you’re feeling a bit better by just saying so. Better out than in as they say. Look forward to seeing you back soon.
BladeAnnie I thought dry January meant not going swimming and I have stuck to it rigidly so far.
I’m enjoying the odd chat in the kitchen Soop, such a warm place to be. Hope bl^^dy BT get their collective finger out soon.
Didn’t go dark until 5.20pm on Anglesey today, woohoo, we’re on our way back to long sunny days.

Evening dear Kitcheners. Woah....so cold here in the evenings but we can still drink our coffee outside in the sunshine at around 11am. Anyone fancy a cup tomorrow? What a lovely thought...well, for me anyway!

soop dear, have I got the dates wrong? Have you been denied proper internet service since about the 10 December? Where are you living - surely not a 3rd World Country yet, and where is the confused shed filled with Bloody Terrible people who style themselves, what, the Northernmost branch of BT, but who cares since they serve any useful purpose? What are they actually saying about all of this?

Not only do you hopefully have each day listed so that you can claim a handsome rebate from them, but isn't it time that you found someone slightly less ladylike, in both appearance and language to deal with the oiks? How about one of those lovely sons of yours? They have humour, they also probably have their Mum's sense of injustice and might be more forceful and much better placed to find out exactly what is happening or not, and why, and when (FGS) is service likely to be restored to your abode- or is it now just something personal. Answers need to be given. Ignoring the fact that they are possibly all bar stewards, it would be good to know that you might need to change your server and deal with people who understand a contract for supply of services that you sign up for. They are providing you with what exactly. A large Son needs to kick ass and soon. You need your link with the outside world, as Jax pointed out. Otherwise you could spend your money on better things, I reckon. Small, weary French rant over with !!

Ann if you can manage just the odd word every day or two on this thread or the GoodMorning one, it would at least stop us worrying. I expect you have had more than enough of people just moaning rather than conversing. It's hard enough to find some cheer, let alone be cheering others but it's often the case that a phone call will find you used as a conduit for people just to let off steam. Then, goodbye, take care. And there you are, flat as a pancake and about as cheery as a Turkey in December. Hope you find your Dunkirk spirit comes back soon. Please take care, you and your GD. Think what you've been through - and survived. It's definitely going to be o.k.

BladeAnnie can see you are mixing with the norty crowd and posh sausages and mash will be consumed along with a nice glass(or 2) of something. Puzzler is obviously encouraging you - but she does have the best ideas, don't you think?

Hope your day wasn't too bad, Susan.
Take care, all. x

GrannyGravy13 Fri 08-Jan-21 17:26:00

Annsixty thanks we are living in strange times and people are beginning to become overwhelmed, take care and do what is right for you.

This Gran is exhausted ? have been homeschooling one GC whilst keeping a watchful eye on youngest GC who was 1 on Sunday and is so quick and extremely inquisitive.

soop I do hope that the BT engineer will be suitably apologetic when they arrive ?

TOYA please be careful ??‍♀️

BladeAnnie Fri 08-Jan-21 17:06:48

Good evening lovely people - hope everyone is keeping themselves safe smile. Posh bangers and mash courtesy of Simply Cook is on the menu tonight and of course it would be rude not to have a glass of the wine that Mr BA has already opened to breathe. I'm so pleased I didn't do dry January!! Dear Puzzler helped me come to the conclusion that we have had to give up so much over the past year so why should I?? grin wine

soop Fri 08-Jan-21 15:06:31

Jax Not a peep from the Bloody Terrible brigade. wink

Ann Us lot will always be here for you. Return whenever you feel less stressed. You will always be assured of kindness. It's what we do...flowers

Yiayia and Grandmabatty. I am now duty bound to complete the bike ride. I may not complete a full hour. I shall do my best. smile

Yiayia4 Fri 08-Jan-21 14:58:31

Thinking of you Annsixty take care hope you come back soon.

Grandmabatty Fri 08-Jan-21 14:50:41

Annsixty I'll miss you but you have to do what's best for you. I hope you get out of those doldrums soon. My best wishes to you and your dgd. Take care x

Jaxjacky Fri 08-Jan-21 14:47:53

annesixty I share how you feel, I rarely lose my temper, but am increasingly having to ‘sit on my hands’ to restrain from posting on some threads. I will have to take my own advice and scroll on by, maybe you could try the same? It would be sad to see you disappear and some threads are not so bad, the Good Morning thread is essential, not all of us feel entitled.
I really hope the Bloody Terrible shift their spreading backsides to sort out Soop I would be incandescent, the internet is a lifeline.

annsixty Fri 08-Jan-21 13:51:17

Good afternoon all.
I think I am going to take a short break from GN, I am really in the doldrums.
It may only last a few days but I don’t want to disappear without trace.
I am getting increasingly upset/ intolerant of people’s attitudes
We are all in the same boat so why is it so personal to some people?
I am getting and making phone calls, really just to keep in touch, but come off the phone so down because all certain people want to talk about is how they are affected/ deprived/ hard done to.
We all feel the same mateys but don’t feel the need to burden others with it.
My D has had a message via Track and Trace, she has been in contact with someone who has since tested positive.
She has to isolate until one minute past midnight a week today.
She was told she could narrow this down by going on the app which would tell her the date the contact was made.
It proved to be the 2nd of Jan, she knew the only person she spoke to was at the key cutting kiosk at Asda.
The point is that was 6 days ago, why does she have to isolate for another 7?
Now I realise I am burdening you all with my problems.
Keep well everyone.
I shall return.

Yiayia4 Fri 08-Jan-21 13:43:00

Well done with your exercise Soop puts me to shame.

We have just had a short walk along the Thames near our house.I’m saddened by all the slum boats moored up on this stretch of the river! They leave rubbish and bottles along the the towpath it’s spoilt a lovely walk.

Do hope Fern will visit today.

Grandmabatty Fri 08-Jan-21 13:35:01

Soop an hour on an exercise bike! That's impressive. Grandmafrench I haven't quite 'mastered' the new phone but definitely getting there. Mawbe I'm also impressed at your walking ability. We have had a little more snow on top of ice so I'm going nowhere today. I'm binge watching Dr Who from the beginning of Christopher Eccleston and considering tidying the kitchen. I begin babysitter duties on Monday so I'm being lazy today. Have a good day all.

soop Fri 08-Jan-21 13:33:56

BladeAnnie I approve of a warming medicinal brandy together with a good book. smile

Grandmafrench Bloody terrible is far too decent a description for BT. Being a ladylike Kitchener, I wouldn't wish to use foul language. Not yet, anyway.

Nannytopsy grin grin grin

Charleyg Last night Fern returned home at 7pm. She was ravenous and ate two hearty meals before taking herself to bed. Today she is being very coy. Rolling around on her back with legs pedalling in the air. She is a beautiful feline. I would love to have her live indoors with us. Maybe. One day.

corner I hope to have birthday girl photos to share with you once the broadband has been restored. It's been a very tiresome month thus far. Things can only get better. hmm

soop Fri 08-Jan-21 13:20:24

I have missed your spirited posts, N&G. No matter when this nightmare time comes to an end, and we all hug family and friends as we wish to, your celebrations will burst into life. The laughter will be restored. The cake will be shared.

Urmstongran Health is wealth. I am pleased that you can now relax and stop fretting. The waiting for results is a tough time. flowers

kitty We've not heard from the garage. And we have had no communication from BT. Sometimes it seems like the world has come to a grinding standstill.

Maw I've had a 20 min spin on the exercise bike. Later this afternoon I shall repeat the exercise. Thank you for rousing me from my lethargy.
Which of Val's books are you reading? I enjoy her whodunits.

Brook We haven't seen snow on the west coast of Scotland. Although just across the sea, the islands of Jura and Islay have snow-capped bonnets.

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Jan-21 23:39:37

Evening all! We have started decorating as our lockdown entertainment ?. Two of us, in one day, achieved what I would expect to achieve in a couple of hours in the past! Repeat after me - tomorrow I will do better!
TOYA - sleep well.

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Jan-21 23:07:21

Grandmafrench please do not feel sorry for Maw. She can look after herself but poor Hattie has to rely on care from her and walking that poor animal for an hour is just too much.

I knew it would not take long for Fern to settle in her new outdoor home and when spring comes and your door is ajar I think she may well see if indoor lodgings might be more comfortable.
TOYA

cornergran Thu 07-Jan-21 23:05:41

That’s a relief urmston, good news for you. Waiting is the hardest part I always think. We deal with what comes, the anticipation is the anxiety trigger.

Mila can’t be there already soop. How is it that some days feel like a month yet a year is nothing? Hope the car issue can be resolved along with BT, you don’t need stuff to worry about.

It’s been a very quiet day here, I’m in ‘I’ll do it one day when I feel like it’ mode. I suspect Mr C is relieved. Can’t think why grin. Thinking Mr C , he has a date for his covid jab which will be our excitement for next week along with the collection of his new glasses.

Time for sleep now. TOYA, look after yourselves everyone.

Grandmafrench Thu 07-Jan-21 22:18:49

BladeAnnie has the right idea, NannyT. What ARE you doing, teaching preparation in the small hours - are you going to make yourself ill ? More care, please. Little grandchildren can be exhausting as well as lovely, don't forget.

Imagine that gorgeous girlie being 3, soop. Happy Birthday to her, bless her. Sounds as if Miss Fern is settling in beautifully. She won't be going anywhere else with better service so is probably working on her retirement package as we speak. Her wandering days will soon become less and less, I'm sure. Sorry to hear the continuing missing car/missing internet story rumbles on. BT - does that actually stand for Bloody Terrible, I wonder? Just needing to ask - perhaps you need to ask sometime soon.

I'm appalled at the sofa saga, Hellogirl. It would be bad even if it weren't costing you more money, but why didn't they measure it properly to ensure it fitted after last time? It looks superbly comfortable (though you don't look to be getting the benefit of that) but, yes, it does look as if the back is extra high - as Charley pointed out. Someone might have pointed that out in the store, don't you think? I can't believe that access to your sitting room is that restricted - unless you're living with The Borrowers? grin. Lots of luck with the upholsterer.

We had one bad experience of things not fitting. Years ago, I went home from the office at lunchtime to await the delivery of a Jacuzzi bath for our new bathroom. It was carefully unloaded from a big Italian truck and carried into our hallway. There it sat, whilst it became clear that no way would it go up the stairs. Builder's and plumber's fault was admitted but I still cried in sheer frustration. Builder suggested taking out the bedroom window which he had just installed. It was then pulled up on ropes to the top floor (I couldn't look) and taken in that way to the bathroom. Like soop said, sometimes removing a window is the only answer but it would be so nice to have the options outlined beforehand if all else should fail!

Lovely to see Hattie is out and about in all weathers. Sadly that means that poor Maw has to do the same thing.....in all weathers. Hopefully with more clothes, though!?

Hope you've mastered your new 'phone, GrandmaB. I love having new things, but hate getting used to working them. Urms thrilled that your results were good ones. You must be greatly cheered by that news and glad that you were a girlie brave enough to get on and have the tests - health anxiety is not nice.

TOYA, everyone. Sleep well and I wish you sweet dreams and a better tomorrow. Hugs from French France, and especially for you Doodle.

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jan-21 22:02:34

* Urmstongran* good news for you, as another health worrier I can understand your relief. ?

BladeAnnie Thu 07-Jan-21 21:42:25

Just popping in to say good night - an early night with my book and a medicinal brandy which Mr BA assures me is just the thing for my sore throat!!

brook2704 Thu 07-Jan-21 21:31:47

Very good news urmston now you can hopefully stop worrying ?

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Jan-21 20:34:28

Maw you took Hattie for an hour's walk today? That poor little girl- I have a sofa here for her to rest on, she must be exhausted.
