I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

The ambulance people have just left after getting me up from a nasty fall.
I’m feeling very shaky.
They were very good and did a thorough examination including an ecg, this showed a left bundle branch partial block, and they’ve recommended I consult my GP.
Some hope of getting through to them, but I’ll try.

LauraNorder Sun 20-Dec-20 22:20:42

Oh Galen that sounds awful for you. Is there a worktop next to the microwave or oven where you could pull up a high stool and tuck in. Do you have something like a bar stool?

Doodle Sun 20-Dec-20 22:19:18

Thanks Corner
. Charley Not a good day today, we have moved to tier 4 so my hospital visit was cancelled. We were both disappointed but especially DH who has been feeling rough all day. Pain team in tomorrow so hoping they can help.
Urms we live in a second floor flat but DH likes using the stairs rather than the lift for exercise. We were on our way out for a walk when he fell down the last few steps. I think he may well be using the lift from now on. ?
Just read you are not feeling too great, Hope you manage to speak to the GP and are feeling better soon.
Grannygravy don’t know when your DH’s 70th is but many happy returns and hope you enjoy it even if it’s just you two.
Dragonfly that’s such a shame, after your DD and SIL had been tested too.
Galen sorry you’re having such a problem. If only we were on a cruise you could be waited on hand and foot .
I’m so pleased Bill won Strictly too.
Thanks for everyone’s kind comments about DH.
Take care kitcheners. Hope all the poorly people feel better soon.
Charley I hope Madam Tara finds something to her liking soon.
Soop we miss you. Hope you get back online soon.
TOYA?

brook2704 Sun 20-Dec-20 21:37:15

Oh no Galen what a struggle for you, it must be so frustrating and difficult ?

Galen Sun 20-Dec-20 21:34:00

I have loads of ready meals, I just can’t manage on crutches to get them into the oven / microwave then carry them to the eating point!

brook2704 Sun 20-Dec-20 21:28:22

MawBe I know my eldest daughter who’s a real foodie buys the ready prepared ‘cook’ meals from time to time so they must be good. I might try them too ..
Sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly again Urms I really hope your GP can sort it out quickly for you ?
Hopefully things will be ok with your son and partner tomorrow grandmabatty

MawBe Sun 20-Dec-20 21:15:10

“Cook” ready meals are pretty damn good and I think (but may be wrong) that you can order online.
An added advantage is that are cooked in the oven straight from the freezer - not pinged in the meekrowahvay as Nigella would say!
I used to love cooking, even did it professionally for a time, but find it over rated now.

Galen Sun 20-Dec-20 20:55:23

Maw yes I have, but I find I can’t manage to stand/sit long enough to actually prepare a meal. It’s infuriating!
I have to rely on the 3 days a week that I can get Gary to do it for me.

MawBe Sun 20-Dec-20 20:45:13

Sounds like a nasty infectionUrmstongran hope you can get it sorted ASAP, there is always that extra pressure before a holiday, especially Christmas.
Galen have you got one of those trolley /walking frame thingies? You should not be trying to carry things but also need to keep your strength up.
I have discovered the pleasure of yesterday’s smoked salmon sandwiches and sausage rolls left over from yesterday’s picnic in a local country park with DD and family - I always over cater - but also intended for today’s repeat performance with youngest DD, SIL and littlest fella who of course have had to stay at hone as we are all in Tier 4.
Really enjoyed them - who needs cooking?

Galen Sun 20-Dec-20 20:26:03

I’m having problems as I find I can’t manage to cook and carry a meal to where I can eat it.
The plus side is that I’m losing weight!
I’m glad Bill won the contest as well.

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Dec-20 20:23:41

Poor you, Urmston. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Happy big birthday to GrandpaGravy. That meal sounds grand. Today was an exchanging presents day,all in the garden and boy, was it cold! I'm going to Stirling tomorrow to see my son. My spidey senses are tingling that something is up with him and his partner. She doesn't live with him and the lock downs have been hard on them. Oh well, time will tell. I was very low last night and this morning but I've brightened up now. I hope Soop knows we all miss her very much.

LauraNorder Sun 20-Dec-20 18:52:55

Good evening all.
Oh poor you Urms, sounds horrid. Hope you feel better soon.
Smoked salmon starter and a beef dinner sounds lovely for GrandpaGravy’s big birthday. Hope you’re ready to sing happy birthday to him.
Hope Tara eats something and you manage to get her medicine down her Charleygirl.
Looking forward to meeting Soop, hope her technical problems will be resolved without the need for too many expletives.
No comment on the football as I’m a staunch Evertonian.
Also happy Bill Bailey won the glitterball yey.
Fingers crossed ? for MrDoodle tomorrow.
TOYA

Charleygirl5 Sun 20-Dec-20 18:05:33

Thanks for that dragonfly- I did not think for a minute that the cupboards and fridge could be bare. Those poor folk.

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Dec-20 17:59:42

Oh Urmston gran no, that’s not fair, I hope you get it resolved quickly ?
Puzzler61 my DH supports the other team, he is definitely not happy!

Urmstongran Sun 20-Dec-20 17:43:15

Evening all. I’m feeling somewhat low in spirits, sorry. My earache & throat has come back today. I feel nauseous and not myself. I think I must speak to my doctor again tomorrow and I’m going to ask if she would consider letting me have some blood tests done.

Himself is watching Man. Utd and has just brought me a cuppa. They are winning and he’s whistling.
?

An easy meal in a bit. Just quiche and baked beans. I can’t be bothered and fortunately Himself always goes with the flow food-wise.

I’m just going to ring me stepfather for a chat. We’ve gotten into a routine this last week. He calls late morning and I ring him around this time.

Enjoy your meal a deux GG13 not what was planned but maybe nice in a different way. x

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Dec-20 17:31:58

Instead of a meal for sixty people in a fabulous restaurant for GrandpaGravy’s 70th birthday it’s smoked salmon followed by roast beef for two ??

I hope you get your DH home tomorrow Doodle

Puzzler61 Sun 20-Dec-20 17:11:17

Nannytopsy the carol service sounds nice and will help you to feel festive - but so sad no singing allowed. Could things get more weird this Christmas ? ?

Puzzler61 Sun 20-Dec-20 17:10:06

Good evening kitchen friends. I can’t believe it’s evening already. I seem to have managed one drive out on an errand (return a block of cheese that was past it’s sell by date on 12 Dec. and I bought it just yesterday, 19 Dec),
mopped the kitchen floor while our cat was asleep
and prepared a roast pork tea.
I’m sure I used to do more than this in a day?
I hope you have all taken it easy today too.
BladeAnnie Hurrah, your team picked up a point today ?
(DH is jumping up and down as his team have scored 4 goals so far in their match this p.m.)
Hello to soop,
and I hope receive a good report from Doodle on her DH soon.
TOYA.

Nannytopsy Sun 20-Dec-20 16:57:49

New traditions for two N&G ? I’m sure this lot will think of plenty. Ours this year are diet driven - as we shall have a few days off, we shall each choose a favourite meal. DH is choosing a pasta dish and mine will include gratin dauphinois, probably with a nice steak. On Christmas Day itself, we sometimes have our starter, then go for a nice walk. Later, we have the main course and pud, then the cheeses &port for supper.
That makes it sound as if our lives revolve around food ?. It gives a nice gentle structure to the day.
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy your day together.
We are off to the carol service tonight, in masks with no singing!

dragonfly46 Sun 20-Dec-20 16:36:56

I am pretty fed up. My DD and DH paid to have Covid tests so they could come for Christmas but now they are in Tier 4 so cannot come. They have no food in the house as many in the same position that is why they are queuing round the block at the supermarkets.
I was lucky as I hadn't paid for any of my Christmas food and could cancel the Ocado order.

I suppose if I had known I wouldn't have put the tree up and we had a lovely FT chat with the GC who we had already decided not to risk seeing at Christmas.

Seeing how the Europeans are banning flights to the UK fills me with fear. When will all this end I wonder?

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Dec-20 16:33:54

Good early evening to you fine people. Blimey, yesterday there was something in the air, both nationally and on GN, another day done.
Nice sunshine today before tomorrow’s deluge. NanaandGrampy I’m always a bit down in the mornings, I don’t know why, then I perk up, I hope Soop is back soon, I’m enjoying their hospitality and not even met, it seems a bit rude.
I’ll pop back later probably, as have a football match to watch, oops, opposition scored, I’ll look away!

Charleygirl5 Sun 20-Dec-20 16:10:07

I went to the local Waitrose to buy a loaf of bread and the queue was snaking around the car park and beyond. I had no intention of staying so I drove to Lidl 2 miles away. I could not find cat food or biscuits for cheese but I found so many other bargains- 2 huge sirloin steaks, 4 meals for me for around £6. I saved a fair bit of money I think and I will have many meals out of the £21 I spent.

I opened a can of sardines for Tara last night- she sniffed and walked on. There are now 3 semi eaten bowls of food here- just lovely. She will come flying in the door soon expecting something scrumptious.

Doodle I hope today's news is better.

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Dec-20 10:56:17

Morning all !

Well, that was a right old to do yesterday wasn't it?

To be fair Grampy and I had already decided the risk was too great to see our daughters and the little ones as they are now in Tier 4 and at the epicentre of an outbreak that is seeing 1 in a 100 people catching the new strain of the virus.

In a way I'm grateful to Boris because now I don't feel so guilty about ruining Christmas - he did it for me !!

I am planning on leaving EVERYTHING up till I DO get to see them all !! Its going to be a cheery Easter at this rate lol

Urmaston I remember watching Dixon of Dock Green with my Mum on a Saturday night ! Great memories.

I have decided instead of wallowing in self pity ( and believe you me I can wallow with the best of them :-) ) I'm going to come up with some new traditions to get us through Christmas. So if you have any ideas for us 2 and the dog - do share !

Today, its tidy up day - not so much a tradition more a necessity!!

Happy days to you all xx

annsixty Sat 19-Dec-20 23:07:22

Only the bottom two I believe and on his way either to or from his apartment.
I wish him well and home soon.
My GD is at the stage of believing in conspiracy theories with regard to BJ and his statements.
I am trying very hard to justify the facts as they are presented..
I think many of her age group are feeling the same.
They cannot rationalise just what they are told.
At the moment she is obeying all the rules but as she watches uni students and what are believed to be the intelligent strata of our society flagrantly ignoring them it is hard for me to convince her of my take on the situation.
I am now asking myself am I right?

Urmstongran Sat 19-Dec-20 22:01:48

I thought Mr Doodle fell downstairs??
