I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Nannytopsy Thu 17-Dec-20 22:12:01

No Kitty, she was only 8 weeks. We lost our first so know how hard it is but harder to lose a fallopia tube too.
Laura - if you could read the previous lichens you would know we are definitely not teetotal!

Charleygirl5 Thu 17-Dec-20 22:07:44

Welcome also to Jaxjacky- it is a very pleasant kitchen to pop into and even better when you bring tasty goodies. No worries, the AA is on speed dial.

Topsy so sorry to hear about your daughter- a very difficult time.

Doodle why in God's name can you not visit again until Sunday? I hope he is home soon but in less pain.

You will all be amazed to hear that Tara does not fancy tonight's supper. There is a minute amount out with her medicine in it.

Galen the sooner you get it done and posted the sooner you will receive, we hope, a negative result.
TOYA

Hello Brook and Jax, isn’t it lovely and warm in here, so much cake.
GG you’ll be pleased that Alex has done you proud on Masterchef.
I’m off to bed now to dream about that lovey passion fruit pud.
Hope Soop is back soon so that us newbies can get acquainted.
See you all tomorrow.

dragonfly46 Thu 17-Dec-20 21:21:52

So sorry to hear about your daughter Topsy it is sad news for you all flowers

Jaxjacky Thu 17-Dec-20 21:17:59

Hi, well, I tried to tippy toe in, but clod hopper feet let me down...I bring glad tidings, a chilled box of white and warm onion bhaji. I’ll have to pass them round for introductions to be made, then I’ll sit quietly and loll in the warmth of both the fire and the company, if that’s ok......

kittylester Thu 17-Dec-20 20:32:47

Heard there was sherry to be had and didn't want to miss out! And, who is that snoring in the corner already?

I am so sorry to hear about your poor daughter Topsy. We feel it for them don't we? Did you know she was pregnant? So sad at Christmas too. (((Hugs))) for her and your DSiL and for you.

Puzzler61 Thu 17-Dec-20 20:10:47

Crossed posts brook - sounds like you’ve had a good lunch ?
I was just fancying something sweet and tasty and a mini mince pie will do very nicely thank you.

Puzzler61 Thu 17-Dec-20 20:07:35

Sorry for the upsetting news of your DD Nannytopsy.
For some couples having a baby is so very difficult and traumatic.
Galen fingers crossed that the Covid test will be negative and it’s good to hear you say you are feeling a bit better.
I hope your DH has a better night Doodle,
and how is that sweetheart Tara Charley?
Hello LauraN Nobody judges you here in the kitchen, even if you swig sherry by the bucketful (we love it if you share though) ?

brook2704 Thu 17-Dec-20 19:59:13

Hello everyone in the kitchen tonight, I’ve just popped in to see if there’s space by the wood burner and I’ve brought mini mince pies with a light dusting of icing sugar for all.
So much looking forward to meeting soop when she’s back online.
Sorry to hear that sad news about your DD Nannytopsy sending ❤️
Lovely to see you here too Lauranorder and thanks for the sherry, I’m only going to have a very small glass though as I’ve already polished off half a bottle of Chardonnay today when out for lunch.....
I’m going to sit here for a while now and chill out
TOYA

LauraNorder Thu 17-Dec-20 19:57:50

Your poor daughter nannytopsy, and sad for you too.
Thanks for all the nice welcomes, hope this isn’t an alcohol free zone, if so I’ve blotted my copy book already.
Hi to you Urms, see I took your advice and here I am.

Doodle Thu 17-Dec-20 19:44:30

Good evening all.
Thanks for asking about DH. He had a bad night last night but was mush better when I saw him this afternoon. Pain under control and he was more awake.
I’m not allowed to visit again till Sunday but I’m hoping he might be home by then.
So sorry for all those who won’t be able to see their DGC and families at Christmas. We will pop round to throw presents at each other but will not be eating together.
Laura welcome to the kitchen. Nice to see you here. I think you are the first person ever to offer a gallon of Sherry instead of cake. ? I will take you up on it but then us Argy’s always did like a wee dram as our dear soop would say.?
Oh charley poor Tara. I hope she’s ok. You will have to make it up to her. ?
Galen good to hear you are feeling better. Hope the result is negative but nice you are on the mend anyway.
Nannytopsy I am so sorry for your DD and all of you. I hope that things will work out for them soon.
Poor soop I cannot understand why she is not top priority to get her wi if sorted. Don’t they realise she’s a VIP.
TOYA ?

Urmstongran Thu 17-Dec-20 19:34:16

So here in Trafford we stay in Tier 3 as we are part of Greater Manchester (along with Bury, Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale and half a dozen more council areas). I did think we might go down a Tier. Hey ho. It’s probably for the best but my goodness, local businesses are suffering greatly.

I hate this nasty virus ?

Hi to you LauraNorder
?

Nannytopsy Thu 17-Dec-20 19:00:47

Sherry is always welcome, particularly as we have just put up the tree!
A sad house tonight - DD has been “trying”for a couple of years but now is in hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. So sad that we can’t rush to them but if she is like me, better not to.

Grandmabatty Thu 17-Dec-20 16:01:00

Lauranorder a bucket of Sherry will go down very nicely thank you. Welcome to Soop's kitchen.

dragonfly46 Thu 17-Dec-20 15:57:43

Sorry to hear you have been unwell Galen I hope your test comes back negative.

Galen Thu 17-Dec-20 15:04:40

Well, the testing kit has arrived.
It took me 30mins to sort out all the codes etc to fill in the online form.
I’m doing the test tomorrow as I’ll then have someone to take it to the post.
I’m feeling much better and aim to get up tomorrow.
I can sympathise with Tara.
TOYA

Charleygirl5 Thu 17-Dec-20 14:52:28

LauraNorder you are more than welcome here. soop who would also welcome you is having mega computer problems and BT hopes to get the problem fixed tomorrow. They have not managed during the last 12 months so what will be magical about tomorrow I do not know but I will happily stand corrected.

Thank you for the sherry-the AA is on permanent standby for some of this lot. Did you supply straws?

soop I do hope Fern has been visiting at least daily for her food and possibly a little shut-eye also.

Tara is not speaking to me as we have not long returned from the vet. She is resting her eyes upstairs.

annsixty Thu 17-Dec-20 13:37:09

You are so right about that anno and I am one of the guilty ones there.
I went to P.....e not far from you about 10 days ago and felt very safe and I felt I obeyed all the rules as well.

annodomini Thu 17-Dec-20 13:30:19

LauraNorder, cakes seem to be pretty elastic here. And there's always a new one arriving. I'm glad of the zero calories because I have lost 4lbs during the second lockdown and hope to make that 6lbs by Christmas. I am planning to undertake Veganuary next month to see if I can manage that. DS2 has been a vegan for a year and is quite sanctimonious about it.
I hope your DH gets home, Doodle. In my limited experience it was an effort to breathe.
What a muddle this tier business is. DS1 in Berkshire has gone up to tier 3 and commutes to work in West London, but his daughter is at 6th form in Hampshire which is still tier 2. DS2 and partner are in Oxfordshire which remains in tier 2, but she works in Reading which is tier 3. My home town is in tier 2, a matter of a very few miles from Stockport in Greater Manchester, which is perpetually in tier 3. I can predict that many residents close to the Cheshire border will make the short journey to take advantage of the pubs and restaurants still allowed to serve food and drink.

LauraNorder Thu 17-Dec-20 12:29:07

Knock knock, may I join you all in this lovely welcoming and warm kitchen. I’m not a baker but hope a gallon of Sherry will be acceptable.
Doodle I didn’t know that your poor husband is in hospital, hope he’ll be pain free and home again soon.
Looking around I see a few familiar faces, lovely to see you all.
Hope your hall roof problem gets sorted out Kitty. What a long term nuisance it has been. Have your new neighbours moved in?
Anyway too much rambling for a newbie. May I help myself to some cake please.

Lins1066 Thu 17-Dec-20 12:06:05

Thank you kitty,Doodle, dragonfly and GG, hard for all of us. We will all cope though, as that's what we do.
Very glad to hear that you can see your husband today Doodle and I hope he is more comfortable.
Coffee and date, cranberry and walnut bars sound just the thing right now, thank you Puzzler.
Welcome Brooke

GrannyGravy13 Thu 17-Dec-20 11:30:07

Hello kitcheners, I know how you feel Lins I have just had the conversation with AC regarding garden visits and gift swapping, it’s all so upsetting. AS will not be bringing his little ones into the garden as they are at nursery and are getting confused with not being able to have family cuddles ?

Cannot believe our soop is still unconnected, despicable service from BT

TOYA

Puzzler61 Thu 17-Dec-20 11:19:05

Hello to Mr and Mrs soop although I know they are out of contact. How frustrating it must be? I hope Fern is giving soop affection by now - we’ll be looking forward to all your news when you can come back tomorrow ?
Continuing “Get Well” wishes to Mr Doodle, I hope he’s feeling better with each new day.
My DH is at the dentist as I type, but he’s not in pain so he will return only with a lighter wallet!
I’ve left pecan, date & cranberry breakfast bars on the side (made them this morning) and a fresh brew of coffee is on for any of the lovely kitcheners who call in. TOYA.

dragonfly46 Thu 17-Dec-20 10:25:51

Just popped in to say hello and see that the dear soop is still missing. I tear my hair out when the internet is down so feel her pain.

It is lovely you can visit your DH Doodle I do hope they are managing the pain and he can come home soon. I bet he is sick of the sight of the inside of a hospital. Maybe we should set up the side ward for poorly husbands again.

Lins it is hard isn't it. We haven't hugged our DGC since January and won't be seeing them at Christmas. They are all upset they can't come up but it is what it is. My DD and SiL are coming up for the 5 days but have taken a Covid test and are self isolating til they come. They do not have children so it is easier for them.

Welcome Brooke this is a lovely cosy place to be. I used to come here and lick my wounds when it was necessary and always got a lovely welcome.

I do hope soop is back when I get time to pop in again.

Doodle Thu 17-Dec-20 09:56:57

Lins having seen DH moving I can only imagine what pain you were in with your spine fractures.
I think it is particularly hard for those with young grandchildren not to see them at Christmas and watching the present unwrapping. Hope you can face time or zoom your family. Not the same I know.
grandmabatty yes I’m looking forward to seeing him, thank you.
Sar painkillers seem to be working better now thanks.
