N&G, love the picture of the boys with Santa. My three youngest granddaughters all saw Santa, socially distanced and wearing a visor, none of them batted an eyelid. It has all become so normal for them ?.

Lins, I feel your pain. One set of dgc asked for photos of our decorations on WhatsApp. That started an avalanche of photos and our daughters all upset not to be able to get together as normal. We had 23 at lunch last year and this year we will be 3.

I've only just caught up with events in the Kitchen.
Doodle I'm sorry to hear about your husband's broken ribs, poor man, I hope that he is more comfortable now with stronger pain relief. As you know a year ago I had two spinal fractures which were found to be caused by osteoporosis, getting to the loo was excruciating. It has been a shock for you both so please look after yourself too xx
As has been said Galen it is very wise to have the test, which I hope you failed.

Feeling down tonight, we had already made up our minds not to see our son, his partner and the four year old for Christmas, however the stricter rules in Wales just announced brings it all home very starkly.

Welcome Brook and thanks for the cake! On a carb free diet, I am getting a bit desperate now! Christmas cake, mince pies, stollen, anything with spice and dried fruit are my absolute favourites and it’s getting harder ?. All virtual goodies gratefully received!

Doodle I agree, you need to catch up with your sleep because when Mr Doodle returns you will be the gopher again but hopefully the pain will be under control by the time he is discharged. As I said earlier it takes 6 weeks for # ribs to heal and they are painful for many weeks.

N&G rescue centres also do not allow animals to go to new homes over Christmas. I do not know what the solution is for the two fellows.

Welcome Brooke my absolutely wonderful dd gave me a goody bag earlier of homemade sweet treats. I'll give you some as you sit snugly by the wood burner. Rocky road biscoff fudge, chocolate fudge, oreo fudge, a white chocolate fudge etc. A full on babysitting day which was just lovely except for the bout of vomiting. But that was easy to sort. Him, not me, I hasten to add. I'm away to my bed as another day of toddler wrangling tomorrow. Help yourself to the fudge. It's very nice.

Hi Brook - if soop was here she would definitely be making everyone shove up, giving you a seat closest to the wood burner and covering your knees with a warm fleece and a plate of something delicious. However, her Royal Kitchenship is somewhere in a bit of a bate, I think, having had lots of words with the telephone people and trying to get her computer working again after endless problems! You know I would sell my soul for these young lads BUT I have a real issue with rescue dogs. I know lots of people have them very successfully but some of the dogs that need rescuing have some very bad habits that are hard to break.

Also a lot of rescues won’t even consider you for any dog if you have young children.

So it sounds like a good solution but it’s mostly not workable sadly .

Cooper will have to make do with his best buddy Sam for now and who knows what the future will bring xx

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and messages. charleygirl you are absolutely right. They want to get his pain under control so he will start breathing properly and avoid chest infection. He is on morphine now so hope he will get some sleep.
N&G I feel for young Cooper. I so wanted a dog of my own but unfortunately, for several reasons, I didn’t get one till I was married and had my own home. My DGC all have dogs and they love them to bits. If mum and dad are willing is there no chance of a rescue puppy?
