Buggerations abound! What awful news, dear Doodle. I am so very sorry to hear of Mr Doodle's nasty injuries and his distress. Makes me feel quite sick and very sad for you both. I toppled over some garden tools onto our gravel driveway when we lived in Normandy and fell heavily on my side. I have never felt pain like it. I couldn't move and then was helped back into the house - a long way and very slowly. I was physically unable to tell the Ambulance service how I was feeling. When they arrived I was white, sweating, fainting, freezing cold, vomiting, shaking - and they were quite worried. I was taken to A&E where it was found I had broken 2 ribs. What 6 must feel like, I cannot imagine. Poor, poor man. It's probably because he's a good and uncomplaining soul that he didn't make enough fuss to alert everyone immediately to how bad he felt. Hoping that he will be prescribed sufficient pain relief to allow him to come home and recuperate with you - and very soon. I know you'll let us know how things are. Wishing hard for you and sending hugs and well wishes. ??
