IPad Addiction

Have you thought of getting a bumper for your i pad and tempered glass screen protector - they really work and little saviours as my grandchildren always somehow get hold of it and drop it quite often . My bumper is also a stand and carrying handle . Ditto for i phone . I fixed my husbands cracked screen by carefully sticking a tempered glass screen protector on top and so far so good after 6 months. ?

I have an iPhone & iPad. I’d be completely lost without them. They’ve been a lifeline although I am trying to be less reliant on them which isn’t very successful thus far! My DDs suggested to my late DH that he bought me an iPad for the Christmas just before he died. He said I’d never get my head around it & gave me a necklace instead! (I got my head into that ok?). I often wonder what he’d think if he could see me now...

I have three iPads! The first was bought for me by my children for my 70th. It only had 16gb of storage but lasted six years until it ran out of storage. I bought more from Apple but it had got very slow so I bought a second hand one earlier this year which still has plenty of storage but the software is out of date and there are quite a few functions it won't perform anymore. As some are quite important I bit the bullet and bought the latest version just last week. I did have to wait a couple of weeks as it was out of stock but got it now and it's so fast and responsive and performs everything I want plus a lot more I didn't know I needed ?
I still use the secondhand one for leisure use, I'm writing this on it but it's great to have the new fast reliable version too.

It's not the iPad Mini it's the larger one. I've just bought this one from John Lewis and it's fantastic value for money with up to date software. It's in and out of stock at John Lewis, it's that popular, but can be bought elsewhere. However John Lewis give you 2 years warranty which is a great bonus.

I had one of the very first iPads and found it tricky to use so I never bothered again but now my phone is very similar so I'd be fine if I got another now. I'm addicted to my phone though - especially Scrabble and Spider Solitaire. And the thought that either of my two MacBooks (different sizes!) might pack up and die makes me quite shaky!

I would have gone absolutely ga ga without my iPad in lockdown. Yes, I’m addicted but who cares ?
I’m in tier 3 here, hopefully when we get back to some sort of normality I may actually go out again instead of being on iPad so much, but until then it’s my best friend

I’d be utterly lost without my iPad. I realised the other day it probably is an addiction when I was berating my grandchildren about the time they spend on their phones, that I’m nearly as bad. I sometimes have to recharge during the day ??. Obviously worse because of on line Christmas shopping. I often think my mother would have been blown away by the technology, and let’s not forget all that knowledge out there with just a tap of a few buttons. I can’t imagine life without it......

I have a tablet, a laptop and a smart phone. I never use my tablet I love my laptop

I'm another ipad fan. I have a mini ipad which I usually use for reading. But often distracted by emails or other apps.

It's one of my favourite gadgets.

Another iPad mini fan here. I love it for zoom chats and watching Netflix etc. Works wonderfully ergonomically for reading too. Has been a godsend during lockdown. I bought it from John Lewis quite a while ago. The silicon backing case is finally cracking and Apple don’t seem to have a replacement. I wouldn’t be without it.

You get help with anything you may not understand if new to Ipad.
I know where ever you get an IPad from you can get help and advice,but I have always found that dealing with Apple themselves I know I am getting the most up to date pad
I went to a couple of high street shops when looking for a new Ipad
at each place I was offered an ipad pro that was not actually the most up to date.
I knew it wasn’t as I worked for Apple for a while after I had retired.I asked the salesman have a brand new boxed one but he would’nt have it I showed him how I know but he just didn’t take any notice disregarded because I am old he assumed I didn’t know what I was talking about.As I left I said to him you are just trying to get rid of older stock he smiled at
me and it’s my job.
I then went to another retailer who gave me the same chat I knew the new one was only just out so can’t blame them I suppose
Just a bit surprised they had any left.????

I’m addicted and happy! It’s a lifeline during these difficult times. I use it to speak to family, and see them, to shop, to check stock in shops, to check facts re covid, weather forecasts, catch up on tv programmes, Facebook for connecting with family in other countries and to join groups re my interests and hobbies.....what’s not to like. It’s no worse...and often better than sitting in front of the tv. (And did I say doing online meditations if I can’t sleep!?).

Have to laugh at a 'good addiction'. Contradiction in terms, surely. However, I thought I was reasonably rational with my iPad until last week when I was cut off for about four hours. Honestly, you would have thought I'd had a limb amputation. I feel a little ashamed as I was one of those who inwardly criticised the younger ones for never having their noses out of their phones. I'm every bit as bad. When my son bought me this I groaned inwardly but smiled appreciatively (of course!). I was quite content with my laptop. iPad so much more flexible and convenient for me. I love it. When it went 'iffy' last week, I resorted to my laptop. Jeepers, I was really struggling to get it up and running. Eight years since I've touched it and yet it was my second skin then. Seriously, I do think I'm far too dependent on it but I can't see that changing. A food 'diet' I had a go at but an iPad? No sirree.

Never had an iPad but I have a laptop, Kindle Fire and smart phone. They have all been in constant use this past year. Although we live in a 2 bed flat we are lucky enough to have plenty of wardrobe space. Previous owner had one converted to an 'office' with slide out desk so DH did the same in the other bedroom. He also has a laptop and smartphone. We both spend some time in our 'offices' each day and have plenty to talk about at the end of the day - who we talked to, emails received, things we have discovered. Friends who are not technical and do not even bank online keep saying they are so bored.

I'm addicted to my kindle oasis for reading and kindle fire for games and reading news and forums, also I have an a Huawei tablet but don't use it a lot.

Treat myself to a Huawei 10 inch tablet not long ago.

I could very easy sit in bed today and slob, the weather is rubbish.

Also have an old laptop, but setting myself up nice n cosy in the bedroom ready for winter. No one else to disturb so just me and my tablet/netflix etc.

It's like having a friend on hand.

I think technology is great! I can keep contact with many friends I left abroad. I’ve learned so much about so many things that I was never taught at school. I can buy stuff without leaving my house and see whose open and whose not. I love my iPad. I can FaceTime my grandchildren. I’ve got the 6 th generation model but I’m satisfied with that. I’ve done courses online with it. Turn it on and it’s instant unlike booting up a computer. Books can be stored and read on it. So yes am addicted

I can't imagine life now without my iPhone, laptop, kindle etc. But I don't have an iPad. However, I can do so much on my phone etc that I'm not sure I need one.
I think I'm semi-addicted, as I have to use these things every day, but not all day. I like to mix it up a bit with other things.
How on earth anybody could survive covid without these electronic marvels is beyond me.

My DS had one of the first ones, I was blown away by the technology when he brought it round to show me and quickly bought one for myself. I am now on my 3rd, an iPad Air. Love it, DH says it’s my third arm. He complains about the time I spend on it but is quick to ask me to look stuff up.

Saturday afternoons he meets up with friends to watch rugby on tv, but can’t during lockdown and had to watch it on my iPad, Amazon prime. I was very put out not having t by me. Luckily I also have an iPhone so I am able to keep track of emails etc. I have got a pc in one of the bedrooms but hardly use.

I’m hoping you are not being paid by Apple for this endorsement hollysteers.?
I do have an iPad mini and a kindle fire, both of which fit nicely into my handbags.
I find having a tablet (regardless of brand) essential these days and when my broadband was down for 27 hours recently I used up all my satellite allowance on my phone.

Greatly appreciate all techie stuff and now the fast speed and so much cheaper wifi compared to 'dial up' days. I use all three all the time. I have a good laptop so prefer that for viewing Netflix etc as great screeen and sound. I also prefer a proper keyboard for typing. But tablet is marvellous for when travelling. I can watch netflix on it then.( you can download material if flying and offline for example). I also use it for digital newspaper I sub to. It is handy for bedtime as so neat.

Couldn’t be without it.I paid £5.99 to download Scrabble.I play most days .Can play against the computer at all levels or can play with other Scrabble addicts. It’s the Mattel one I bought.

I don't have an Ipad, but use my laptop.

I check Gransnet daily, in the afternoon and once or twice a week send e-mails or receive them.

I bank over the Internet and sometimes shop there.

I don't use the Internet on my smartphone, the screen is too small to read easily, and I don't see the need for an IPad or Tablet.
