Take Care,

A very late good morning from another wet, grey, dismal Durham. I wasn’t going to post today but Harrigran reminded me of our Carol Services in Durham Cathedral. We walked through the City, 600 girls in a brown and gold single file.
Why I posted is to wonder why DH has had 2 workbenches delivered by A****n this morning. This is a man who can’t recognize a nail, let alone how to hammer one in! It’ll keep him busy attempting to assemble them - the instructions remain unopened, so I foresee trouble. Apparently he will have to move the tall freezer and matching fridge/freezer to a different location too - they’re rammed full for Christmas/Winter, so hope moving them doesn’t affect them.
Hope everyone has a less stressful day than mine might turn into. X

Morning all from a drizzly South Notts. I overslept today as I'd sat up late watching two interesting programmes about Dionne Warwick - such a beautiful voice. I got back from the paper shop just in time to avoid the rain. A quiet day with the newspaper and the crossword and of course, more sock knitting. One day I may actually produce a pair.

How clumsy of your hairdresser Beechnut - I recall Mum once was splashed so badly that she had to walk home with a towel between her and her blouse. I often have a slight feeling of dread as I lean back over the sink.

Beautiful throw MawBe such gentle colours.

May today be healing for those with sorrow or illness.

Good morning everyone from the Gower. It's a bit fickle out there this morning, cloud then blue sky and then back again.

I gave myself a shake out of my weariness yesterday, so yes I was a bit better Lins and Susan, ?it will last. I grappled with the present wrapping, I made two meatloaves and a batch of toffee and cleaned the fridge. I marinaded chicken and made byriani in advance for dinner tonight then ... indulged myself in my non artistic artwork and watched the match. I also had a telephone consultation with my neurologist, who rang unexpectedly (due to ring Wednesday next week). Upshot of that is that he is adding another medication on too of the one I already take but we have agreed that if I experience severe side effects (I'm so prone to them) that I stop them immediately. Paid for my doings just before bedtime, but only with one impaired awareness seizure that didn't hit me too badly ? Slept well and didn't wake until 9am. Plans to clean the cooker today!

Love the photo GranyGravy, a Christmas ? is too tempting for a little one ?. Great picture of Henry too Susan, even if his new favourite place isn't the happiest of places.
The small hours can be a wretched Susan and concerns can play on your mind and hot even harder. I suspect that even though you were told you'd have an appointment in a couple of weeks time that this wretched virus has delayed it, nothing more ???

Freedom, even if only of a curtailed sort, Urmstongran. Yippee ?. Out of those PJs my lady!

Marydoll, fussy family frolics frustrate but .... you love your DD methinks ?.

Grammaretto, a difficult birthday for your DD, cake and cuddles to celebrate are needed anyway cupcake. Your FiL will be getting the best treatment I'm sure ?

Right, there's nothing for it , I must actually start the day before it ends ?

Stay safe, keep cosy, find at least one smile or better a laugh everyone ❤️

Annapops Sat 12-Dec-20 10:55:47

A late good morning from a very wet County Durham.
The birthday run continues here with GD1 tomorrow. Over the past two months we've had so many family birthdays which makes it our most expensive time of year. I treated DH to a trip to Sunderland last week for his. We must have looked so balmy, sitting with a hot water bottle hidden under a blanket, whilst having a picnic in Roker Park. I had wanted to sit on the beach but it was far too cold.
All the decorations are now in place and the tree is looking gorgeous. It's strange to see everything remaining in its place this year, no little hands playing with them. How I wish they were.
Such a lovely throw Mawbe. There are such wonderfully talented people on here.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmafrench Sat 12-Dec-20 10:46:22

Good Morning everyone from the chaos of my French home where there’s been no internet since yesterday! I know, could life get any worse? ?. So, struggling through GM linked to DH’s ‘phone at the mo’. Can’t even complain to the ‘phone company because by the sound of their recorded message, they’re having a lie down with a cold flannel following a huge fit of the vapours, after too many customers calling with choice words. As ever, patience Grandma French?.

Far too much info, news, fun & games from this lovely gang today. Why aren’t you all here - we could speak and.....you’d get some sunshine today? Oh well, shall do my best to remember.... Ellan and Harri - kids, however old, really should carry a Govt Health Warning! Am hoping Old Tom is o.k.

Feel better, Auntie Flo, depressing how many are not sleeping well at present. Maybe it’s linked to being unable to actually achieve everything that we normally could at this time! Lying there worrying is just awful. So sorry for you, Susan. Try to put your anxiety in a box on one side until you know, or you’ll be totally washed out by the time the date arrives. Tell yourself it’s going to be alright. Please x
The toddler photos are so beautiful. My first thought seeing Henry was he’d had a night on the tiles, then maybe he’d found another great place to hide Mummy’s engagement ring?

Mary great to learn that all your future needs are to be catered for.....DH’s too.....all taken out of your capable hands. Maybe just try to think it’s only cos they love you! ?

Urms have a lump in my throat at your reunion. Certainly know how you feel. Enjoy every moment, you’ve been so patient. And no more anxiety....do you Ear me? ?

While you hide indoors from the weather, Gelisa try to think it will help grow the lovely gardens you normally care for. Try saying “the rain Raineth , the sea ceaseth , and it sufficeth us” as you busy yourself indoors?! ?

What a brilliant work of love, Maw. Take a bow!

Going to stir myself with regard to a Christmas effort and put up a tree during the next few days, as normal. It doesn’t feel very normal but have been shamed by all the efforts displayed on here. What troupers you all are. Will break the glad tidings of great joy to DH that we are “go” for his annual visit to the garage roof store and safe recovery of the decs’. I just know he’s going to be soooo thrilled......

Other stuff to look forward to? Well, from the 15th, we can drive anywhere! Yay! Curfew, though will continue...so no one out between 8pm - 6am, and no restaurants or bars open and also, New Year’s Eve cancelled. Fabulous ??. We’ll just pray the interwebby stuff hold up then, shall we?

Make it a safe day, everyone. Take care of your lovely selves.

Hugs from you know where ???‍♀️?

Taichinan Sat 12-Dec-20 10:44:53

Darn. Lost it! I now know that if I go to a previous page to check something I will lose what I'd written.
Oh well, good morning all and it's still a grey day here on the Angus coast, where the Christmas cards have at long last been written ready for the post box.
Loving the photos today. Young Henry looks as if he may be bent on a lifetime of "goin' fishin'"! And your little baby Santa looks quite fascinated by the baubles GG. I do miss my days of babysitting - they were such a privilege. The youngest GC is now 15, so my well-honed skills are surplus to requirements.
Your throw looks lovely MawB. If that sofa and that cosy throw were mine I don't think I'd ever bother going to bed!
Sorry to hear of all the bad nights - there's nothing worse, and troubles always grow arms and legs in the wee small hours. ?? to all of you, and to all in poorly health and sadness. These long, long months of Covid incarceration have certainly taken their toll.
But have the best day you can everyone and find something to laugh at - even if it's only the mirror ???

Blossoming Sat 12-Dec-20 10:38:01

Good morning all. From a very wet Lancashire. Cards all written and presents all wrapped yesterday. We had planned a walk today but it’s just too much rain.

NannyJan53 Sat 12-Dec-20 10:13:36

Good Morning from a dull but dry Black Country.

Late up today, so not had chance to read all your posts.

Had a lovely walk with my friend yesterday, then a take away coffee from the Park cafe.

My son had an interview for a new job Thursday, all on video call. He rang yesterday to say he had been offered the job. Similar to his role at the moment but with a different local authority!

Wishing you all a good and safe day. Off to read your posts now smile

Gelisajams Sat 12-Dec-20 09:55:12

Good morning from Morecambe Bay. I’m sure I don’t need to say what the weather is doing. It’s just a question of how heavy the precipitation is these days and that varies from hour to hour. Our road is certainly well washed.
Enjoy you freedom Urmston but do remember to still take care. I can understand your worry Susan. Hopefully it’s something and nothing. It’s surprising how we are so less rational in the early hours.
Another nothing much day today. A bit of exercise, weights day today (only light ones) a few more stitches in the dress I’m making , a bit more crochet, perhaps the last of the cards and maybe a walk if it stops raining.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

EllanVannin Sat 12-Dec-20 09:43:03

Good Morning All x.
So dark this morning and from what I can see, it looks damp too so no washing out today, not even for 5 minutes.
I'd stripped the bed after yesterdays fiasco of D's " flying visit ", to rid myself of the angst of GGS's school phoning her when she was here.

D rang up later and said he didn't want a test and like myself, she said you'll jolly well have one now grin ( can't smell anything indeed ) that'll cure him ! Anyway, as thought, a negative test, so yes Scentia, if I'd seen him I'd have boxed his ears for pulling the wool----he's 15 next year so not daft but he thought his nan was. Flippin' kids. It could have started a real chain reaction.

A piece of beef to cook today for tomorrow's dinner----wonder if there'll be any dripping to have on toast ? It was actually quite a long piece to begin with so I cut a chunk for D to freeze for Christmas after I'd bought it.

Must finish the cards today and get them posted this weekend and out of the way. Then I have D's Birthday next week, she'll be 57----can't believe it ! My other D in Oz will be 60 next month, can't believe that either. I don't know which is worse, having GGC who'll be mid teens next year or your" children " entering near pension age grin
I should be thankful/grateful, which I am of course.

No sign of the old stray Tom yet. He must have gone on a wander. It's a bit unusual that he's not waiting for his breakfast and his kennel is empty so at least he hasn't died in there as he's so old now. It was an old cat when I came here in 2006, 14 years ago so he's easily turned 20 bless him.

I'll have to move myself now and get the meat i'thoven.
Take care everyone and stay safe. Extra thoughts to Gilly xx

GrannyGravy13 Sat 12-Dec-20 09:36:41

Hi Gingster we haven’t managed to get to your High Street yet, having GS and a very painful neck curtailed my plans!!!

MawBe a beautiful throw

Susan Henry seems to have an adventurous personality like our GS

Enjoy meeting your family Urmstongran it’s been so many months ?

maydonoz Sat 12-Dec-20 09:34:30

Good morning all from a dull, grey but dry Welwyn in Herts.
Yesterday I spent an interesting morning on an induction course to help as a volunteer with the Covid vaccination program. It was well attended, I didn't do a head count, but there must have been at least 60 or 70 people- all volunteers. We were mostly ladies and maybe 10 men. We will assist in getting clients in and out safely and the plan is to start vaccinations on the 21st December so oit will be interesting to take part in some small way. There were quite a few volunteers of similar age to me and we all wore masks and sat well apart in a large hall, so it was as Covid secure as possible.
I wish everyone a good day, Christmas will soon be upon us.

Auntieflo Sat 12-Dec-20 09:29:47

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. I don't feel quite so bad now that several GN's have said that they are still in bed!
I have been very lazy lately, and was woken early on with pain under my right shoulder. Yesterday it was all on the left, seems to have moved during the night.
So my sympathy to BlueSapphire, who is also having back pain, and also to her DD who had an accident happen outside their home.
Grannygravy13 and Susan56, what lovely babies in the house. Ours are all grown up now, and producing GGC.
Maw I love your throw, clever you.
Such a lot of news to catch up on, that I will have to go back and re-read. But lovely having photos to see.
Marydoll. Thanks for your 'daily doings', you make me laugh.

Think I will stay in the warm today and not do anything, again.
So have a good day one and all.

Grandmabatty Sat 12-Dec-20 09:20:38

Good morning All. It's dreich out in Polmont. I have been shopping already and back home for toast and tea. I promised dd I would get the chipolatas for Christmas day and they have to be bought from a particular butcher's which gets unbelievably busy. So I was there for it opening at eight. I got a steak pie for new year's day too, just in case mum decides to come over. Then, flushed with success, I did the week's shop in aldi too. So everything bought and put away. Today will be a housework day. I must write the cards for the neighbours too. Have a good day all.

Sar53 Sat 12-Dec-20 09:20:02

Good morning everyone from a very grey Essex by the sea. Like many of you I've had a dreadful night, I finally had a couple of hours at 05.00.
No plans today, may go for a walk to blow the cobwebs away.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

Urmstongran Sat 12-Dec-20 09:14:02

Ashcombe ??

Marydoll your household antics are a joy to read every morning I love them!

Greyduster Sat 12-Dec-20 09:13:03

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a murky South Yorkshire. Not so cold today though. Saw the doctor about my ear yesterday. No infection, just wax so persevere with the olive oil for a week. It still itches like b*****y though!! Good to hear your doctor was reassuring, Urms. Not a lot on the cards today, so I may reacquaint myself with the rug I started making. I like your throw, Maw - it would look lovely on my new sofa! Have a good safe day folks.

Marydoll Sat 12-Dec-20 09:10:09

Susan I'm sorry to hear your news. flowers, No wonder you couldn't sleep. I love the picture of Henry. smile

Lot's of great photos today. Well done, Maw!

Marydoll Sat 12-Dec-20 09:07:11

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow. I've had a dreadful night and Charleygirl, if you are reading this, what were you doing infiltrating my bizarre dreams? grin

Glad to see you have been released Urmston and hopefully your GP can sort you out. Great excitement at eventually being able to see your family after all this time.

GM I have a huge tin of buttons, many were my mother's and grandmother's. They will never be of any use to me, but I can't bear to throw them out. It's a pity we didn't live nearer to each other.

I'm so envious of those who are managing to get to the hairdressers. My DD has promised to bring her thinning scissors next weekend and have a go at hacking cutting my hair. Thank goodness my public won't be seeing me for some time! grin

DD has come up with a plan to look after DH and once we get the vaccine. This worries me! wink.
She has decided since I have a history of allergic reactions to various treatments and medications, there is a possibility I will be unwell and I will need looking after as she can't rely on DH! So...she will move in for a few days. ? He is mortally offended at her casting aspersions on his nursing skills. ?
It's me who has always been the carer and I hate being unable to do things!

After yesterday's experience of her "assistance" with putting the online delivery away, I may end up in coronary care, rather than the vaccine making me ill. ?
I'm a very logical person and DD is the exact opposite! Chaos ensued! That's all I'm going to say. Poor SIL hid until it was all sorted. grin.
She is so good to me, but fusses far too much.

She then started catastrophising because DH hadn't come back from the golf at his usual time. Convinced that he was lying somewhere on the golf course, she wanted me to phone my friend the Ebay queen and ask her to phone her husband, his golfing partner to see if he was OK. This is because he has slipped a couple of times recently. I wish I hadn't told her that.
I had to lie in a darkened room after they left!

Hoping every one has a reasonable day and that our missing friends re-appear very soon. I just wish Gilly would let us know she is OK.
Take care everyone.

Ashcombe Sat 12-Dec-20 09:05:12

Thanks, Urmstongran, for the explanation. I’ll look again.

Gosh, Spot the Ball! That’s going back a few years - these days, we could have Spot the Sulk or Spot the Spit! (not to be confused with Spot the Dog which is something else entirely!) And wasn’t there a Spit the Dog on TV at one time?

Enough rambling from me!

Grammaretto Sat 12-Dec-20 09:05:00

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it is just getting light. We get 7 hours of daylight today. I had better take the VitD .

It's also my DD's birthday. Not a happy day or indeed year for her.
FiL is now very poorly in the covid ward.

I will go and make the most of the daylight.
Great to see your Christmas trees.

Susan56 Sat 12-Dec-20 09:02:47

Good morning from Shropshire.

I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday and DH had what I can only describe as a good cut?at least it won’t need cutting for a while!

We looked after Henry.Grannygravy, H is now 14 months and in to everything.I have attached a picture of him in his new favourite place?

I had a sleepless night.Last week I had a drs appointment,I was referred urgently for a hospital appointment and told I would be seen within two weeks.I have received an appointment for 8th January. My middle of the night mind was convincing me of all sorts☹️

The throw is beautiful Maw.So many talented ladies on our good morning thread.

Bellasnanna,I too am still in my pit,a term my dad used to use.

Ashcombe, hope you start to feel brighter as the day goes on and hoping Mary and Cherry are both feeling better.

Have a good day all.

Anniebach Sat 12-Dec-20 09:02:15

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Sat 12-Dec-20 08:54:50

Such a cosy scene there Maw that throw looks gorgeous - soft enough to snuggle.

Sorry about that photo Ashcombe you’re right. The star is actually along the top right edge but it hardly transferred over - just a peep of white!

Reminds me of the old ‘Spot the Ball’ competitions in the newspapers back in the day! I used to try and follow the trajectory of the players eyes - then next week when the result was published it was down in the bottom corner, nowhere near where I assumed!

aggie Sat 12-Dec-20 08:51:56

I love the throw Maw
