Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all to come. We had a very wet day day yesterday in north Surrey.
GrandMattie good to hear things are progressing so well with Iris.
I have work again today but will be my last shift before Christmas to enable me to feel “safe” to see my parents and the DGDs. However I fear we will be going into tier 3 this week as numbers are rising substantially in Surrey.
Dog walk this morning and online Pilates. DH always makes me a bacon and egg sandwich when I work a late shift, yummy.
Stay safe and have a good day to all

Beechnut Sat 12-Dec-20 06:21:49

Good Morning everyone from a dark Severnside.

I intended to go out tomorrow but as heavy rain is forecast I’m going to go today.

I was able to get my haircut yesterday. I could feel the water running down on my hair wash and when it was all finished I found it had gone right through to my knickers ?

I hope you all have the best day you can and Urm enjoys her freedom ?

grandMattie Sat 12-Dec-20 06:23:48

Good morning from a still dark E Kent.
Posted a pair of rousers and 4 pairs of knickers for Iris, yesterday. Only 6 more to adapt and two pairs of trousers to make. I was surprised at how expensive buttons are these days. Getting a bit bored with altering knickers.
Lots of rugby for DH today. Keeps him happy.
Nothing much on today, just walk round town on the walls as usual, then sewing/cooking or whatever.
Have a good day, everyone.

grandMattie Sat 12-Dec-20 06:25:37

Forgot. Urm, how did you get on re. ear? Hope GP was able to help.

dragonfly46 Sat 12-Dec-20 06:45:54

Good morning dark here in Leicestershire but hopefully dry as I am meeting a friend for a walk.

Up early as Sainsburys are arriving any minute.

Hope you feel better Urmston. Typical that the government changed their guidelines on quarantining just as you come out of it.

Scentia Sat 12-Dec-20 07:09:55

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels mild.
It is as we thought DGS did indeed have my smile?
I can hear him waking up now!!
EEV no am dying to know if you had to box DGS ears yesterday.

Off out on a walk today to meet friends, they haven’t seen DGS since last Christmas.
Must go, I will pop back later.
Take care everyone and stay safe❤️

Nannytopsy Sat 12-Dec-20 07:11:25

Good morning Mick and all his followers. You have been talking about a haircut for a while - I hope you get one, Mick . Mine was messed up last time, so I am changing hairdressers but I can’t get an appointment until the New Year. Still, it gives the rough bits longer to grow out!
Grey and still dark here in Suffolk so a day of sewing and rugby here. What to have for tea? It’s the thing that gets to me about this year - running out of ideas for food. A browse through the cookbooks perhaps ...
Good news about Iris and yes buttons are pricey!
I hope the day is kind to everyone and take care x

Good morning everyone from a dark East Northants at DD's. Have not slept well due to pain in my back; had to get up and take more pain killers.

A sad event yesterday evening just outside DD's house. Terrific bang, DS-in-law rushed out, as did other neighbours. Just one car involved; 999 was called and within minutes ambulance, police and fire engine were there. The driver unfortunately didn't make it according to DS-in-law. Very sad at any time of year, but just before Christmas.......

Hoping that today will be uneventful. Wishing for a good Saturday for us all.

BlueSapphire Sat 12-Dec-20 07:23:47

Beechnut, the same thing usually happens to me at the haidressers, usually because I am too short for the chair and basin. They now give me a cushion to sit on, which seems to solve the problem.

kittylester Sat 12-Dec-20 07:28:40

Morning all from my bit of North Leicestershire which is also dark and sounds dry!

Big news - a well recommended (by the butcher!!) slate man is coming this afternoon.

Decorations day today. And lots of catching up to do. Teriyake chicken and egg fried rice for supper.

Stay safe.

Pantglas2 Sat 12-Dec-20 07:32:11

Morning everyone from a dry north Wales where I’ve just trotted out for a paper, actually it’s the TV guide that I like!

Oh dear Beechnut- soggy britches☹️ - not a nice feeling is it - I ve had a soggy bra once when a trainee was a little over enthusiastic with the rinsing!

Will pop back later and hear about Urmstongrans (r)ear....and other tales ? - missed yesterday’s post so will catch up on that as well!

farview Sat 12-Dec-20 07:33:48

My 13yr old granddaughter tested positive for covid yesterday, doesn't feel poorly, just slight cold symptoms, but obviously affects family, d.i.l cant go to work, practice nurse, son working in Glasgow so he is staying up there now to run the job until the 23rd....
Keep safe and be careful ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 12-Dec-20 07:34:36

Good morning Mick and all

I hope you get your haircut Mick I am having a cut and colour on Thursday its two months overdue.

blueSaphire how dreadfully sad for all involved outside your DDs house.

Urmstongran hope your ear is better.

I have had an awful night hardly slept due to the fact that after waking up with a dodgy neck yesterday it got progressively worse, kept going into spasm with pain killers being absolutely no use.

Our 11 month old GS was a handful yesterday not sure if the Christmas tree will
survive his attention ?

Keep safe and well folks ??

aggie Sat 12-Dec-20 07:41:18

Good Morning all, it’s chilly out ! I was trying to take a photo of the moon ?

Beauregard Sat 12-Dec-20 07:44:30

Good morning all. It's raining here in Derbyshire.

I suddenly have a queue of jobs this weekend. I have been buying so much food just lately I need to sort out some freezer space and organise everything better. The big freezer is 3/4 full of veg we grew this summer which we're not getting through very quickly, mainly because our cooking has become more adventurous since retirement and we're eating different foods. I regret growing so much now. I'm not very keen on eating frozen veg either. Doh! Note to self for next year - don't grow so many brassicas!

I still need to make the outside door wreath and finish the last few Christmas decs then tidy up everywhere. I've also been planning to make a Christmas fabric face mask so if I don't do that this weekend it will be too late. I know, I should be better organised, and sooner!

I hope Saturday is a good day for all.

NanKate Sat 12-Dec-20 07:48:56

Good morning Mick and All.

Dreary grey sky here in South Bucks.

On my own this weekend so am trying to avoid binge watching on Netflix and get on with packing gifts and all the other things on my To Do list. I’m good at writing the lists but not actually doing the tasks, I’m easily distracted. ?

brook2704 Sat 12-Dec-20 07:49:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark, dry and fairly cold. I think I’ll be going for a local walk today but nothing much else planned. DH is doing a bit of decorating in one of the spare bedrooms, it’s the one that DGD uses when she stays over and it needs a bit of a refresh. Best leave him to it I think!
Well done with all your sewing grandMattie I’m sure it’s a very big help for Iris and much appreciated
Sad event bluesapphire and such a shock when it happens close by. Thoughts are with the family concerned.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Sat 12-Dec-20 07:50:30

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s still dark but dry and seems mild. I just took this photo. The illuminated star is a decoration on the Anglican Church round the corner. It’s an attractive church to look at (I’ve never been in). What is the design called when it is square with four spires/towers? I used to know ...

Anyway - today we are RELEASED! Yay! Cannot wait to see my Covid warrior, son in law & the two grandchildren. We are going to join what is called their childcare bubble - I can pick the children up from school and bath them if asked to help. Also we’re popping over (on the bus which stops at the entrance to these apartments) to go and see my 88y old stepfather. We can go into his house or him come to us as he will be in our support bubble. I checked government guidelines and we can be in both bubbles it seems. That’s handy as apart from our Yorkshire lass, that’s all my immediate family - only small!

My lovely GP rang me yesterday. I have an appointment now to see her early on Monday morning. She reassured me as she thinks the ache (not pain now) might be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction which can linger for up to to 10 weeks.

Hope Saturday is good to us all. I’m off for a free ‘flu jab at the pharmacy downstairs mid morning - my first port of call ha! Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

NanKate Sat 12-Dec-20 07:50:32

GrannyGravy love the photo. ?

brook2704 Sat 12-Dec-20 07:53:05

Sorry to hear about your DGD farview hope she’s fully recovered soon

Pittcity Sat 12-Dec-20 07:56:10

Good morning from a still dark Colchester. Feeling a few degrees warmer here.
A quiet weekend here.
I woke to an email saying that I had won the Euromillions and am now planning how to spend my £2.90.grin

brook2704 Sat 12-Dec-20 07:58:01

Yay !!! Enjoy your day urmston and seeing your family - I bet you’re so very very excited! Christmas come early ??

Gingster Sat 12-Dec-20 08:14:48

Good morning all and it’s very dark here In Essex.

Urms hope you get meds for your ear and your ache eases. ?. Enjoy seeing your family , after all this time. ♥️

GG that pic is so cute and I love his Christmassy onesie. By the way did you manage to get into M and S ? I walked up to town yesterday and it was very busy.

My DG 1 is Home from Uni until the New Year and I long to see her but we’ll have to be patient and wait, until Boxing Day.

Is anyone watching Queens Gambit? I’ve watched 2 episodes and enjoying it. I wonder if it’s based on fact?

Take care Mick

Take care all ?

Ashcombe Sat 12-Dec-20 08:19:02

Good morning, everyone from a bright Torbay! If only I felt the same...! Not a great night hence my later than usual appearance here.

Beechnut that dampness must have felt uncomfortable - the price we pay to be beautiful!
Your family must be so grateful to have your sewing expertise, grandMattie, coupled with the imagination to create suitable clothing for Iris.
Dwmxwg: I should think you’ve earned your break and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
The accident near your family’s home sounds ghastly, Blue Sapphire, and upsetting for all concerned.
Hope your DGD remains mildly affected by Covid, farview, but it is disruptive to everyone's work routine.
Lovely photo, GrannyGravy13! Initially, I thought you had a little elf by the tree but, on enlarging it, I could see it was your GS, a little imp by the sound of it!!
A wonderful feeling of freedom, Urmstongram! My old eyes can only see what looks like a railway station in your photo, even when I’ve enlarged it.

I’m spending today with my “bubble mate” so it will be good to catch up with her. I hope everyone has as happy a time as possible. Keep warm and well! ?⛄️??
