Good morning all and it’s bright with big bits of blue sky. ? here In Essex.

Pittcity you’ve escaped Tier 3.lucky you. I think most of Essex will be in Tier 3 from midnight. My lovely girl (I looked after for 10 years following her mother’s death - she was 6) was due to be married last May. Obviously postponed and had been rearranged about 4 or 5 times. She messaged me just now with a link to the streaming of the ceremony on Sunday. They can still get married but have to leave directly afterwards. What a year!

Yesterday I popped my friends birthday present on her doorstep. She came to the door with her DD and baby DGD. What a lovely surprise to see them.! We had a long catchup and felt brighter seeing them.

My poor DD doesn’t have much luck. Always something happening to her. Yesterday it was her xmas tree! The cat had leapt up onto it and it all crashed down and broke. Tinsel and decorations everywhere. She now needs to get another tree. She always laughs about her misfortunes and says ‘just my luck you’ll never guess what’s happened now???. My heart sinks ?‍♀️.

Hope all goes well for Iris today, grandmattie.

Ashcombe And lins your front doors look so lovely. Beautiful and welcoming. ?.

Glad you e got your ear sorted Urms . It should clear up now ?

Pantglas you got a good bargain there ?

Have a pleasant day everyone ??

Good morning all from an odd sunrise in S Hants, it’s cloudy but a yellowish hue, rain forecast. Pretty door wreath Lins, a reassuring diagnosis Urms, fingers crossed for Iris and good news Elizabeth1. I’ve probably forgotten someone’s news!
I have two friends, separately calling today, one to collect to return a faulty bin she got me last week and one dropping a card in. They will do a brief back garden peek in to the new kitchen through the patio doors. I must make stuffing today, the defrosted sausage meat is in the fridge, a pile of are presents on the kitchen table to be wrapped at leisure. DH can lend a hand wrapping next week when he’s off, then he can see what ‘we’ have bought people!
Have a safe, gentle day all.

Grandmafrench Tue 15-Dec-20 08:38:33

dusty how are you? Lovely to see you posting. Do let us know if you’ve had some positive help from UK specialists.?
Enjoy a rain-free day. Sending hugs x

Gelisajams Tue 15-Dec-20 08:35:23

Good morning from dry cool calm Morecambe Bay. DH is taking advantage of it and is off running, leaving me to laze in bed with my bucket of tea. It’s not as good as the bucket I broke in summer, which had Peter Rabbit motives on, and because we are not going in shops I haven’t found a satisfactory permanent replacement yet.
I finally got 2 e mails back yesterday regarding the double payment for DS3’s Christmas Gift subscription. PayPal said no chance because they had paid the invoice correctly, prompting me to send another direct to the gift company reminding them they hadn’t responded to my last email. They too got back last night and explained I’d ordered one for me and one as a gift. I don’t know how I did that. It must have been due to including my address as a customer and his as a gift. However they are prepared to cancel ‘my’ subscription and refund the money , so all good there.
Christmas cards hand delivered and posted, and my little dress only needs buttons and the hem doing.
Take care and stay safe everyone. ?

Morning from S Lanarkshire, getting ready for my second zoom meeting this morning with the on line U3A book club that was started last month. Gives me some motivation to wash my hair and do a little mild titivation! The book this month was The Bee Keeper of Aleppo, which I'm sure many of you will have read. The story about a couple who had fled Syria and reached the UK, I found a hard read especially as the author has worked as a volunteer in a refugee camp in Greece which lent authenticity to the book. Anyhoo, I suppose it helps to put my present troubles in some kind of perspective. And on that cheery note, I'll wishes everyone a good day!

dustyangel Tue 15-Dec-20 08:29:41

Good morning everyone from a cloudy but rain free Portugal. The forecast for today is no rain which will be a first for the last four
weeks. So washing is ready to go out as soon as can make myself get dressed and organised.
Commiserations to all the poor sleepers. I slept well last night for a change and feel so much more positive today.
Best wishes to you all.

Grandmafrench Tue 15-Dec-20 08:29:26

Good Morning everyone! A shutter-creaking night, roaring winds and overcast this morning. So.....not a good sleep, not a good mood but lots to do. Moan over!

Our wild weather is from the south and late last night I was able to go into the garden in just a cotton sweatshirt. Looks as if it will be a warm Christmas. Must remember that when tempted to put yet another log on the fire on Christmas Day. It does ‘sedate’ all the animals but I don’t want to have to open all the doors and windows whilst cooking lunch - and that happened one year!

Hope Iris does well today, enjoy your outings (while you can?) and don’t stress unduly, travelsafar. Hancock..he of the famous Half Hour...has a tendency to come out with stuff which would make anyone’s hair curl. And it’s so often inaccurate or presented in a way that would put a Daily Mirror headline to shame! Fear not! Carry on being careful and don’t stop hoping! We’re going to get through this, you’ll see. This wretched year will be behind us soon and I believe we’ll all have something to hope for next year.

The Police told my DH yesterday (in a jolly conversation I hasten to add!) that they won’t get the new curfew rules confirmed until today. Midnight tonight sees new times but a change in rules which means we can go out without limit in travel - as long as we’re home by 8pm. For the first time the new infection figures yesterday dropped well below 5,000. This is what the Govt has been waiting for before a review today - and they have been in double figures. Next review mid January. We shall see! ?

All Good Morningers, posting, missing, lurking, please take no risks, keep safe and find those smiles. Hugs to you all x

?‍♀️???

Good morning from a mild Stafford.A better drive over here this morning.

Not sure what we will do today, will let the two year old decide!

We had a lovely day yesterday.A young couple we know came over with their little baby to collect some furniture we were getting rid off. They came in for a socially distanced cuppa. In normal times their baby and Henry would have been at baby and toddler group together but in these Covid times they haven’t met yet☹️When they left, DH said wasn’t it lovely to have visitors.

I hope Iris gets on well at her appointment today.

Thinking of Cherry and hope she had a good night???

Have a good day all and stay safe.

Marydoll Tue 15-Dec-20 08:21:41

Good morning all from a cold Glasgow, at least its dry!

Lovely to see you have found us today, Elizabeth1 and glad to hear your husband is improving.
Fantastic pictures from everyone. One of our outdoor wreaths is looking quite tired, I now have the incentive I need, to do something about it!

Nothing much planned today, as I overdid it yesterday. Not a surprise to some of you.
I made the jars of marmalade yesterday, after some initial hiccups.
Firstly, I threw the tin of oranges into the jam maker, (yes, I cheated, twice over ?), then couldn't find any sugar. ? I usually have bags of the stuff, as I'm always making things.
Two emptied cupboards of lockdown stash later, (as I can't go to the shops) I found the 2 kg I needed. I had to sit on the floor to empty the cupboards, bending is very difficult! DH came into the kitchen and thought we had been burgled! ?

I threw the sugar in the jam maker, set it for slightly longer, and went to do other things. I came back to find the paddle had jammed and all I had was a lumpy mess! Serves me right, I should have kept an eye on it.
Started all over again, grr!! However, it turned out really well and when DH complements you, rarely, you know you have cracked it! ?

If I feel ok, we will have a short stroll to the post box. Nothing strenuous. I seem to have lost my confidence a bit, as the last twice I felt unwell, but I need to do it. I shall have little nosy at people's decorations on the way. There are lots of Victorian villas, with huge bay windows en route and I always have ? envy, when I pass.

Hoping all goes well at the hospital today for Iris and that Grammaretto and family can find the strength to get through the next few weeks.

I suspect that there are quite a few on here, not broadcasting their pain or sorry and trying to deal with it privately. These are for you. ?

Take care all and stay safe.

Lins1066 Tue 15-Dec-20 08:19:59

Thanks Urm. If you don't buy your tree today, maybe reserve one as stocks around here are dwindling. We put ours up at the weekend, the smell of pine is lovely and seems stronger than for years now. Not much else in the way of decorations here at Chez Lins but we always have a tree. So far the the puppy has left it alone, it had more bother from a certain four year old, she rearranged most of the baubles. Glad your GP had a diagnosis for you, take care.

Urmstongran Tue 15-Dec-20 08:15:53

Sorry cornergran my comment just now was insensitive I think. I understand re-reading your post that you are anxious about your husband’s health.

I hope you both get the reassurance you need soon. Anxiety is exhausting isn’t it? I hope your walk later lifts your spirits a little. x

kittylester Tue 15-Dec-20 08:09:32

Good morning from a dry North Leicestershire.

I'm joining you all in the poor night club. I had a volunteer meeting via Zoom last night which was attended by 90 people - eek! And then we had unsettling news from a neice.

On a more positive note, we have a visit from the new roof man to look forward to!!

And, more wrapping to do!

Urmstongran Tue 15-Dec-20 08:08:38

X posts Lins - that spectacular Christmas wreath certainly has the ‘wow’ factor. It’s beautiful. Clever you.

Ashcombe love your front door too - maybe it is time to buy our tree for the verandah I’m feeling the vibes this morning!

Pittcity Tue 15-Dec-20 08:06:06

Good morning from Colchester where the condensation is on the outside of the windows. Another mild day. I had to carry my coat yesterday.
Both DDs are now in tier 3 but Colchester is to remain in 2. This means that our town will be full of people from out of town. I'm steering clear.
Eldest DGS was sent home from school yesterday to isolate due to contact in his bubble. That means all 3 have done their time.
A walk with DH today is the only thing on our agenda.

ginny Tue 15-Dec-20 08:05:05

Good Morning. It looks dry but chilly outside in N. Bucks.

Elisabeth1 glad to hear things are getting a bit better for you.

Our neighbour fell over yesterday. Luckily in the house and she was near enough to reach for the ‘phone. We have a key and managed to get her up and make sure she was ok.

Today we are meeting my Brother and SIL at a garden centre half way between us. Will be outside and wrapped up warm . I think if we have coffee we have to sit on separate tables as we are different households and shout at each other ! Everyone will able to hear our secrets?

Hope you all find a ?today.

Urmstongran Tue 15-Dec-20 08:03:22

Good morning everyone from South Manchester (the predictive suggestion is still ‘Malaga’ at the moment!) where it’s getting light. Dry, mild and I can see the ridge of the Pennines outlined by the sunrise behind them - a wide band of bright orange - which is always a good sign.

The GP diagnosed Eustachian tube dysfunction yesterday. Said she could see bubbles in my ear canal. The spinning sensation I get is only when I lie dow or turn over in bed. Nothing like as bad as years ago when I had labyrinthitis. My lymph glands are up too suggesting a viral infection. She said it can take up to 3 months to clear. Ah well, if that’s all I’ve got to worry about it’s reassured me.

The drier is working now so think I’ll strip the bed and get it all washed, dried and put back on for tonight. No ironing here anymore - those daft days as gone. As long as it’s clean and fresh that’ll do.
#lazygran

A trip up the road I think at lunchtime - to the independent shops - the cobbler’s to stick soles on a pair of boots and the bookshop to pick up that Christmas children’s book I ordered from Spain plus a mooch there - Sandra always has lovely cards and gifts which make for nice stocking fillers for the grandchildren. I always wrap them - it’s adds to the excitement I think!

Can’t decide whether to buy the tree today from outside our local florist or leave it a few days. We walk it home - it’s only a 5 minute walk and I carry the top end anyway! Maybe today is good as it’s dry.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling low cornergran I hope you find some joy soon. Lovely to hear Iris is making such progress grandMattie she’s amazed us all - brave girl.

Hope Tuesday is good to us all. Himself is taking our 8y old grandson to his outdoor football practice at 6pm so our Covid warrior can stay home and bath little miss who is tired after starting nursery school in September and goes to bed around 6:30pm. I can’t believe she will be 4y old next month. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Sar53 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:51:26

Good morning from a dry and warmer Essex by the sea.
I've not slept well again, awake from 3-5, thoughts going round and round.
DH is going to our local butcher first thing and then we have a few presents to buy.
I hope Iris has a fruitful visit to her consultant.
I wish you all a pleasant day. Xx

Lins1066 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:42:20

Good morning Mick and all. It is dry here on the S Welsh coast. Day 2 of our son's house move so hope the weather is kind again today. Mr Lins is going to help erect a dolls house and some furniture so I will have one of Marydoll's empties.
The fish man will call later and I have a book to finish and presents to wrap.
The florist's instructions for the Christmas wreath weren't difficult to follow, a shame the class was cancelled though, hopefully next year...
Have a good day everyone, stay safe.

travelsafar Tue 15-Dec-20 07:20:36

Morning all. Still recovering from the scarey news about Covid variants, it made me cry when i heard this on the news yesterday.

Off to the hairdresser for a fringe trim today, pre-empting a total lock down again after Xmas so thought i would get in now. Also want to give my HD a decent tip as she has had a rough year like many other service industries.

Need a couple more stocking fillers so hoping to pick those up this morning. Also have to drop gifts off to a couple of friends. Doorstep drop offs only.

Hoping to catch up with my darling grand daughter today at some point as it's her birthday and as she works shifts, i never quite know when to ring her, but have messaged her via Facebook already,so she knows i am thinking of her.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Beauregard Tue 15-Dec-20 07:18:02

Good morning all from Derbyshire where a nice day is forecast. Although the same was forecast yesterday and then rain came from nowhere.

Yesterday I emptied both Tesco and Morrisons of most of their flower stock (which isn't great on a Monday) and this morning am making two wreaths for tomorrows funeral. I will have far too many flowers, but better too many than not enough. The house will have plenty of flowers around afterwards and maybe a table decoration if I have time. Before I start I have to see what foliage I can find in the garden.

This afternoon we will deliver them to the undertakers. DH is planning a route nearby so we can go walking afterwards.

We tried a new recipe for a chilli meatball bake yesterday. I didn't skimp on the chilli and it was the hottest food I have ever eaten! It was delicious though, but I'll tone down the heat next time!

Hope everyone is feeling well and today is kind to all.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:15:54

tropical grrr that should be reopen!!!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:14:43

Good morning Muck and all

Pleased your hair is getting sorted Mick.

I am off for an outside brunch with three dear friends this morning at a friends tea room. She has fleece covers on the chairs, hot water bottles and we can take our own blankets. It should have been next Monday (21) but we are going into Tier 3 at midnight.

I do feel for the folks in the hospitality industries, I hope they are able to use all their orders food on takeout menus, I fear many will not tropical after this shutdown.

I hope all your troubles and worries are solvable.

Thinking of gillybob

Keep safe and well folks ???

dragonfly46 Tue 15-Dec-20 07:10:29

Good morning. It’s still dark here in Leicestershire.

Had a productive day yesterday. I took the bags of food I had been amassing to the food bank and arranged for DPD to pick up two boxes of presents today to wing their way to Brighton. I hope he turns up!
Then went for a walk with some good friends.
I also made the final menus for the few days of Christmas.

Think I deserve a quiet one today just wrapping the remaining presents.

I hope Iris gets on well at the hospital GrandMattie.

Wishing you all a good day.

Dwmxwg Tue 15-Dec-20 07:09:31

Good morning Mick and all the GMs. Bit of a sleep in this morning as dog alarm didn’t bark until 6.30.
Ashcombe your door looks very welcoming and love that you have decorations handed down from your mum.
Norstat sending positive vibes that your parcels are collected today.
We had a lovely woodland walk yesterday, our young dog charges round like a mad thing and then sits in muddy puddles to cool off. So glad I invested in a tumble dryer to dry all the towels I end up using.
Meeting up with DSs partner and DGDs this afternoon for a walk, looking forward to seeing them again after an enforced break.
Stay safe and have a good day to all
