I then plan to get a bus to Bicester only today , to shop and also have a coffee etc.

Good afternoon all , I thought I would share my disaster with you (it will probably make you all laugh!!) This morning after I had done a load of washing the 'your machine needs to go through its deep clean cycle' message came up on the screen so I set the cycle to go and added a well known deep clean powder to give the cycle a boost and went off to clean the bathroom . Well when I came back I had obviously added too much cleaner because there was foam coming out of the detergent draw and advancing across the kitchen floor !! It must have taken me over half an hour to clean up the foam and sort the machine out , but the floor is very clean and the machine does smell lovely and fresh .
Take care all of you and to those of you who feel sad and fragile today be gentle to yourselves.

Finished the crossword in 20 minutes!

Very late good morning from wet Anglesey.
Just a quick skim of your news. Hope the removal of stitches makes Iris more comfortable grandMattie.
Have you tried the epli manoeuvre Urms you’ll find examples on YouTube. Worked for me after three goes over three days. Apparently moves the crystals that cause the horrible dizziness when you turn over.
Love all the Christmas wreaths and trees, so many artistic Grans.
Ooh sun has just appeared, going to deliver cards now.
Have a good day everyone and hope you all have at least one reason to smile today.

baubles and Marydoll, Your
Christmas tree counting stories suddenly reminded me of driving with my two eldest grandchildren, then aged about 5 and 6, in the back of the car. They were both tired and grumpy and in desperation I told them to count the trees on ‘their’ side of the road
Peace ensued for about 10 minutes, then even worse crying broke out, unbelievably there were nonstop trees on one side and about 4 on the other!
Happy days?

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny West Norfolk. Don’t post on here much but good news for us! My husband had his first Covid jab! Second one on January 5th. Unfortunately I will have to wait a bit longer!

Borrheid55 Tue 15-Dec-20 12:17:38

Morning from a sunny Kent! You’re one busy lady Marydoll ! I’m trying to work out where you now live. I thought you were still on the outskirts of my home town but the Victorian houses are nowhere near!
Had the gas engineer at 08:00, our boiler was acting up! DH had just come home from work so took charge as usual. Hubby’s op was cancelled last week with about twelve hours notice - after isolating for two weeks! So back to work last night - he drives an HGV to Birmingham Mon-Fri night. I got to see Only Connect and University Challenge last night quietly. He doesn’t participate but makes a lot of noise while the programmes are on because he is not interested in them. Any one else got a ‘noisy’ partner? He seems to operate at high volume all the time - he says it’s due to being deaf; he can’t hear himself! Aye right!!!
I do enjoy reading everyone’s news - good and bad. I’m never sure what to post here. I promise to be more active in posting.
Meanwhile, I shall enjoy the peace and quiet while DH gently sleeps until 16:00. I made chicken stew yesterday in my multicooker so no need to prepare anything for him later.
I will spend the afternoon till then doing the Times crossword and reading. I had thought that I would be nursing him post-op this week. Maybe in February- Covid-19 permitting.
Have a good day all!

Morning everyone from a dry NE, for now!! Finally managed to get a hair cut yesterday, my gd took me to her mums friend who is a hairdresser. Been a busy couple of weeks trying to get the rest of the xmas presents in, and sending my cards in between working and looking have DH. Cleaner is going to do my carpets tomorrow as well as usual clean. We had to take the rug up, as instructed by the OT in case DH trips over it. No decorations up yet, SIL normally does it for me, but he was waiting on carpets being cleaned. My DH who has fostered for nearly 20 years now has her new baby she is adopting, she is adorable. She has already adopted a little boy, and is legal guardian to another. She is always busy, both of her sons also foster and I am really proud of them all. Hope everyone keeps well.

A late good morning to you all.

I've only skimmed the posts so will return to them when I've posted, but as I've scrolled down, I've been struck by all the beautiful decorations - how lovely they all look.

It's a beautiful, though chilly, morning here in South Yorkshire, so my job in a bit is to pop outdoors and sweep up all the leaves on the lawn that have fallen from the magnolia tree in preparation for the lawn people coming on Thursday to give it its winter feed. I'm sure that as soon as my back us turned, more leaves will appear! ? Still, it's a spot of good exercise for me.

I do hope that you are all ok, but for any of you feeling sad or troubled, I send you kind thoughts and these ?.

CherryCezzy Tue 15-Dec-20 11:25:45

Good morning everyone, it's a lovely winter's day in the Gower.

I did have a good night, perhaps too good a night thanks to my additional sedating medication, thank you for your well wishes Nortsat and Susan. I didn't get the opportunity to read yesterday's morning thread until last night, I'm pleased that your family's covid tests were negative Susan* ?

Love the Christmas wreaths Ashcombe and Lins, you did a good job on that Lins.

Sounds familiar Marydoll, sitting on the floor rootling through cupboards. Yesterday I was sat on my kitchen floor with the contents within all around me because I couldn't find something (new scourers) I'd bought. My WP came into the kitchen and looked at me with an exasperated expression on his face and exclaimed "what is everything doing on the floor"! Five minutes earlier I'd told him what I was going to do ?. He claimed I didn't, but I know I did, we'd literally just been telling each other what jobs we were about to do! I know he's always had a bad memory - but really ?

I finally managed to post all the cards I needed to (except the hand delivered ones) and all but one of the parcels I needed to send yesterday. Job's a good un ?. Not at m organised best this year but it has been a strange year so I'll excuse myself. GrannyOwl, your way of wrapping sounds a lot like mine, my WP is so much better than me too.

Pets! Or should I say cats ?. Can't stop interfering with the trees can they - Gingster I think your DD knows that more that most ?

I hope Iris' hospital appointment goes well grandMattie ?.

Well, coffee break over so I'd better shift myself from my comfy chair and get on with today's doings.

Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Good morning all, cold and bright here for a change. Supermarket shop done, hoping to get out for a walk this afternoon. Keep safe and well.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 15-Dec-20 10:38:55

Good Morning all from sunny Harrogate - wow, it wont last!!
At last out tree is up and decorated. It has to be up by the 13th, though often not decorated. My DD2's birthday is on the 13th - she used to think it was up for her birthday, so we try to keep to that tradition (she's now 46). When she was in Sunday school, the teacher asked the children who were 3, "and whose birthday do we celebrated at Christmas". Her hand shot up " Mine" she shouted!!
My DH has this belief that if he keeps use of the car to the minimum, it will increase in value (never has before). So I had to laugh when he tried to go out in it and he found all sorts of warning lights coming up. Turned out the Turbo had gone in the car from lack of use!! Hopefully after coffee we are going for a jaunt to Boroughbridge - to keep the battery charged??
Pantglas My nain lived in Clifton Road, the other one lived in Deganwy

Stay safe everyone, hope today is good to you

Wycombe your front door looks lovely

brook2704 Tue 15-Dec-20 10:29:47

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry bright and sunny. It’s cold though so need to wrap up warm
I’m late posting this morning as we had the DGC stay over again last night as their mum and dad are so busy at work in the run up to Christmas. We did the school run then came home, sorted the washing, tidied up and then I settled down with my coffee to read all your lovely news and happenings. DH is out at his local part time job so I’m enjoying the empty as marydoll would say ?
I really enjoy the festive pictures Ashcombe, Lins, Bluesapphire and baubles thank you - all looking lovely and makes me think I should put a bit more effort in here!
Think I’ll get my coat, hat and scarf and go into the garden whilst it’s dry to get some green foliage and holly etc and have a bash at something ...
Hoping everyone with worries and struggles has a better day today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Auntieflo Tue 15-Dec-20 10:28:14

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a dreary bit of Berks. It doesn't know whether to rain or not, and keeps changing it's mind.
I had a much better night last night, slept on my side, and so my back is a bit better. Sunday night I must have slept on my back all night and didn't know what to do with myself yesterday.
One of our young neighbours was delivering her cards yesterday afternoon, and offered to take ours round for us, bless her.
There had been so much news going on here, that I can't keep up, and shall have to go back and remind myself. But, I do hope that folks who have been really unwell, are beginning to get better.
Baubles, that's a lovely and unusual tree decoration.
My hairdresser phoned and said that the hair brush she ordered for me was in, so we shall pop along and collect it a bit later. Trust me to have thrown away my old one in a clear out.
Nice to know that Iris is coming along fine Grandmattie, she's a brave little girl.
Thinking of all who are struggling and hoping that you all, especially Gillybob, have a good day.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 15-Dec-20 10:27:59

Morning all from a bright South Notts, we've had a damp night. I've a few chores to get on with but nothing too arduous. The sock knitting continues, have turned the heel and am on the instep.

Beautiful baubles, trees and wreaths on here.

Hope today is kind to those with illness or worries.

Taichinan Tue 15-Dec-20 10:06:05

Good morning everyone from the Angus coast, where the sun is shining, and the clouds seem to be dispersing. Funny how the sight of the sun is so cheering.
I was up before the sun this morning - but that's not difficult when sunrise is 08.42!
Loving everyone's photos again, and the door wreaths are so welcoming! I know I shall regret my lack of decorations when I get home from DS's after Christmas on the 28th, but there really isn't much point 'just for me' for such a short time. DDiL is very artistic and creative and their house will look lovely.
I'm not daring to look forward to it yet in case something happens to stop it, but supposed to be squashing into a small corner of DD's sleigh on the evening of the 23rd.
Must dash off now and I'll pop back later to have a good read of all the posts. Have the best day you can everyone ???

Marydoll Tue 15-Dec-20 10:04:06

Baubles, snap!

My grannie lived in Kilsyth and it took three buses to get there to visit her. We used to count the Christmas trees in the tenements on Parliamentary Road in between me being travel sick ?on the way back to the bus staion

baubles Tue 15-Dec-20 10:02:17

We are buying a very small greenhouse for DH in springtime and calling it a Christmas present so just doing little stocking fillers for opening. I bought this vintage glass tree bauble from eBay to put in his, but was a little nervous about it being delivered in bits. Shouldn’t have worried, it arrived in three days, perfectly wrapped in scrunched newspaper in a box within a box.

BlueSapphire Tue 15-Dec-20 09:59:54

My Christmas tree!

Grandmabatty Tue 15-Dec-20 09:56:48

Good morning All. It's dry in Polmont but it has rained in the night and there are patches of ice which you can't see until you skite( slide). My windows forewarned me with condensation, a sure clue that the temperature had dropped sharply during the night. I sympathise with the bad sleep brigade. I rarely sleep through and most nights I'm awake at least once. Last night was no exception but I did lie longer so ended up rushing to get up as the fish man calls on a Tuesday. A nice piece of haddock for tea. Today I will toddle to the post office to post dd's Christmas cards for her. Then a spot of cleaning. I was horrified when the sun hit my kitchen floor so a wash is required. I don't know how it gets so dirty - there's only me! I definitely should finish wrapping presents and that will be my day. Have a good day all.

baubles Tue 15-Dec-20 09:54:24

Good morning Mick, morning all from south Lanarkshire where the sun is struggling to shine through the clouds, perhaps the rain will hold off today.

I’m late this morning, a very disturbed night has left me counting the hours till I can get back to bed. tchgrin

DH has been trying to get a haircut since the barbers reopened on Friday but the queues along the street have put him off. I do hope he manages to get in soon, he’s definitely sporting the mad professor look.

Everyone’s decorations look great. Marydoll you’ve sparked a childhood memory of my DF taking us on the top deck of the bus into Glasgow to see the lights and us counting all the trees in the tenement windows on the way in.

Going to make a large pot of lentil soup today and get out for a longish walk I hope.

Hope the day goes well for you all.

Greyduster Tue 15-Dec-20 09:47:46

A late good morning, Michael and all GNs from a clear South Yorkshire. DH had a broken night due to a problem with his leg, so of course, I had one too! I am pressing him to ring the doctor today. Nothing much planned but I might get some mince pies underway and put them in the freezer. We had a nice walk round one of our parks yesterday. It was nice to be out in the sunshine. Have a good safe day folks.

BlueSapphire Tue 15-Dec-20 09:40:24

Good morning all from a bright and sunny Northampton. Late again this morning! I turned over again - this is unheard of for me; I never used to be able to do this, and could never stay in bed once I was awake.

Well, got the tree up yesterday without too much (help) disruption from the cats. Am planning on putting a few more bits and bobs up today, and maybe get the cakes ready for marzipan and icing.

Have not heard anything from DS re his Covid contact; it's now a week since he was in contact so hopefully he's escaped the virus. He has to self-isolate though, until next week.

Well, must get going and get a few things done. Hope the day is kind to us all.

GrannyOwl5 Tue 15-Dec-20 09:04:56

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is dry and bright at the moment.

Glad Iris is coming along well GrandMattie.

Love all the Christmas decs and wreaths going up; they all look very festive and cheers us all up.

A walk down to the town is planned for this morning. A visit to the greengrocer and hardware shop as a bulb in one of the reading lights went bang last night. We will probably walk into town via the seafront to blow away the cobwebs. Presents wrapping this afternoon which is my least favourite job; DH does all of them, but I obviously do his so it will mean scissors hacking at paper and sellotape on everything except the parcel!

Hope those struggling with illness or worry have a better day. Have a good Tuesday. Stay safe

Alygran Tue 15-Dec-20 08:57:16

Good morning from North Yorkshire. We have clear blue sky today. Not sure how cold it is though.
Bed stripped and washing on.
DD2 has gone back home so the house feels quiet and empty again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can meet up again for Christmas. She took all my presents for the family with her in case I can’t go. She lives near DD1 on the other side of the country.
The new glass unit in the conservatory appears to be covered in condensation. I hope it’s on the outside not between the panes.I’ve waited months for the replacement.
Sending flowers to all those with worries and ills.
Stay safe everyone.
