We actually went into a supermarket yesterday as DD has asked if I will make my usual Christmas ham for her even although we won’t be there to share it. I didn’t want to leave it to the supermarket picker to put one in my delivery so ran in, chose one and ran out again. We will take the glazed ham to her when we visit their garden on Christmas Eve as one of the children will be turning 5 on that day. It will back lovely memories of the Christmas Eve spent baking with her siblings whilst their mother was in labour. DD brought her home four hours after giving birth and the next day appeared downstairs in a black dress, red lipstick, with beautifully blow dried hair to have Christmas dinner with us, her brother and partner and her parents in law. DD’s motto has always been ‘Get up, get dressed, get going’!

Please don’t anyone feel the need to apologise for telling us about going out to restaurants, I enjoy hearing about life in lower tiers/levels, it reminds that there will be a more normal life in time.

What a precious decoration Lins and a very pretty little angel Norsat, lovely to have such things to keep.

Marydoll we, well I say we but really it was himself, had a similar experience in the spring. He says to me ‘I’ve ordered a couple of shrubs from Dobies website’.......‘I didn’t know Dobbies had a website’ says I. Several weeks later I suggested he ring Dobbies as said shrubs hadn’t materialised, I looked up the number of Dobbies, a garden centre about 15 miles from us, he looked at his order and found he’d ordered from Dobies, a nursery several hundred miles away. It was just another of those farcical conversations!

I think we all have had and will continue to have tearful moments in what has been the most unbelievable year, Christmas seems to be an emotional time whether it evokes happy or sad memories.

Good morning everyone. It's wet and murky in the Gower. It hasn't got yet I think the forecasters are right with amber warning ?

My dental appointment yesterday keep to the inevitable, I had to have a molar extracted ?. I knew going bump in the night would one day catch up with me ?. Maybe I need a net to catch me rather than a mattress on the floor ?

Hope the hospital visitt goes well today harrigran and I hope the side effects of your medication ease Nortsat, methinks you may be doing too much Marydoll - please rest ?

Such excitement today as I head for the hairdresser for the first time in nearly a year! A pity, because the ginger and grey striped shoulder length hair is such an attractive look!
I have also received a giant bag of potatoes from The Potato Guys, which are receiving good reviews, so tonight I can have them boiled and roasted.
Marydoll I believe Cadbury’s have an advert at the moment telling us to send chocolate anonymously to someone, so it could be another admirer!

And GrandMattie I can recommend Iceland’s mince pies ( luxury, I think they’re called. I know they are good, as I ate the whole box, just to make sure,

Hello and good morning from a wet and windy Northampton. Shall not be venturing out today.

Christmas presents all wrapped yesterday and the cats didn't touch them overnight, thank goodness. I must find a couple of large bags or boxes to keep them safe until next week. Will have to text DS so that he or his partner can collect them from the front porch next week and we can do a swap. Nearly a week now since he started self-isolating after his contact with someone with Covid, and I haven't heard anything, so I imagine he's escaped it. He has to self-isolate until Tuesday.

Must run the Hoover over downstairs this morning. Will probably watch another Poirot film this afternoon; I finished a Poirot book this week, and watched that one yesterday afternoon while it was still fresh in my mind.

Must get moving or else I shall still be sitting here come bedtime! Hope everyone has a good day.

Wet and miserable after a lovely day yesterday---but you can't have everything especially at this time of the year. A bit breezy too, but again, not that cold.

It's taken me all of an hour to read the posts and I still won't be any the wiser as to who wrote what but I do get the gist, so much going on in my mind particularly after yesterdays fiasco when the chap came to read the water meter.

Over the years, the water company has been the bain/ bane of my life and each time I received my bill I've always rang them to query it, saying that the usage was wrong and always met with excuses about increases etc.

It was ten years when a meter was fitted outside to save any inconveniences and yesterday when the chap was here he'd said that it was fitted with the " wrong code " ! Great ! More duff workmanship----do these things only happen to me ?

Anyway, after half an hour of the chap feeding the information from my inside meter he said his IPad hadn't worked and he'd have to do it all over again. However after some cursing he suddenly said," oh it has gone through alright". On his way out I then told him not to expect the bill to be paid before Christmas and he then said " I wouldn't be paying anything at all ". So, will I get back ten years of overpayments ? I won't hold my breath !"

I'm not a heavy-user of water, having a shower only as opposed to a bath and the washing machine isn't used to excess. Besides that, there's only myself. What a load of plonkers at the water board.

Ah well, we'll see what today brings. I do think D may pop in today as it's her Birthday tomorrow, 57, good grief. This is what happens when you have your children in your early 20's, though I wouldn't have had it any other way----get it over and done with . D in Oz will be 60 next month !

One of her B/day presents is delayed ( in the post ) but I do have a bottle of champers for her here.

New potatoes to go with my fish dinner today instead of chips, by way of a change.
More wrapping to do today and last night I noticed a couple of stray cards which I hadn't posted---how did that happen ? Mind you, if you saw the clutter around me, you'd understand. A cat wouldn't find its kittens amongst it

Good Morning all from dismal Harrogate. Yesterdays delivery from Sainsburies has left me wondering - how am I going to make a Yule Log with egg noodles? The shop insists that is what I ordered, thought eggs would be better!!!
Today I reckon I'd better get baking, haven't done much for over a week!!!
Marydoll when I live in Newton Mearns, think there was a Dobbies in Giffnock or Clarkston or in between? It was our garden centre at the time.

Good morning form a drizzly north of Scotland. Chores done and sitting with tea and a warm pastry from the online delivery. It took ages to put away as I decided to stock up well having decided last year that there was no longer a need to store so much food - well that has made me revert to the “normal” store cupboard like my mother and grandmother. Our corner shop, quite rightly is no longer open 7 days a week til 7 at night. We all just have to plan a little more carefully.
Having been reluctant to meet and eat out, I thoroughly enjoy hearing what others have been doing. In a popular holiday area, I just haven’t done it.

Good morning everyone from a grey South Manchester. It matches my mood I’m afraid. Not like me but this earache and one sided throat pain is pulling me down. 4 weeks in and yesterday was about the worst. Regular paracetamol and ibuprofen. I felt like having a good cry. Proper sorry for myself. It makes me realise what a tough time those who suffer with chronic pain must contend with.

I’ve just read all your posts, still in pj’s sat on my bed. I also watched ‘Morning Live’ on BBC1. A newish programme and I really like the format and the presenters. Nothing like Holly& Phil so it ticks the box for me. Back for another series in February. I found myself hoping to be firing on all cylinders by then. Before hopefully.

I was amused by the Dobbies/Dobies kefuffle.
I once had a surreal call for one of my chaps. i answered the phone and:-
"May I speak to Mr. Mattie?".
"Of course, but I've got 3 Mr. Mattie".
Stunned silence then ... "mr. P Mattie?".
"Got two of those!"
Eventually it turned out that they wanted DS2. It was very funny!

Good morning Mick and all from a non-descript sort of day on the Angus coast. Dreadful night again last night, so later than ever! On hear to try to wake up and raise my spirits a little bit. You all do that so well for me. You're right Mick the rules and regulations are confusing - they never stay still! We are in Level 2 here in Angus but are surrounded by Level 3s and the North Sea, so still can't go anywhere! Then comes Christmas and we can go anywhere in Britain, "but just because you can doesn't mean you should". Oh dear, bring on the guilt!
Your grandparents' tree dec is beautiful Lins, and as bright as new. How lovely to still have it.

Good afternoon from Co. Durham. It's a miserable damp dark day here. I'm hearing up to walk to my local shop as I didn't go to the supermarket this week. I try an do my shop there every couple of weeks as I wouldn't like to see it close. It is the mainstay of the village where I live. Then I have some cleaning to catch up on. Take care everyone and have a lovely weekend. I will be looking forward to phoning my grandson tomorrow as he is eighteen.

Oh dear, not like you Urmston. I hope there's some improvement. Is it a neuralgia pain or one that needs antibiotics ? A grumbling tooth anywhere ? No wonder you feel down.

Urmston...am thinking similar to EV..could it be a dental problem?...get well soon ?
