Last night's news: Despite supermarkets being interviewed and reporting they have lots of stock and veg etc coming in daily mainly from local sources, it's shocking to hear some emptying the shelves (this morning news).

Again, no respect for those who have limited time to shop and/or limited money to be able to stockpile.

I think the only indication of a shortage came from Sainsbury's who said in the New Year there could be a shortage lettuce, salad leaves, cauliflower, broccoli and citrus fruits.

Just had a look at the Sainsbury's site. My next online order (last one came last Saturday) is due Monday. There are still slots available. Saver slots at £1.

By the way, sprouts freeze really well.

Plenty of fresh veg in our small Sainsbury this morning.

We have just walked up to our local Aldi, much quieter than normal shelves full (I stayed outside with GC and MrGG13 went in)

I got my delivery today from Sainsbury’s. I got everything and it was all fine.

The Co op are doing same day deliveries for, I think, £2. Or they were on Monday. Might be useful to some GNers?

Masses of all sorts of veg in my local big Asda earlier.
It was heaving, though - I’ve never seen such long queues for the checkouts.
Luckily I was only buying fresh veg, so transferred it all to a basket - it only just fitted - and went through the self checkout.

I to have a delivery tomorrow, 2-3pm, my only slight concern is veg, if there’s any issue, I’ll be out 6am Christmas Eve to local Tesco, got to have my sprouts!

In the early hours, a few weeks back, I booked our Christmas supermarket delivery for tomorrow at the only time available - 6pm. Now I wonder whether I should not have felt so smug. Will there be any fresh goods left as a result of customers shopping during the day (something I should have thought about at the time!) but now there is panic buying resulting from the threat of shortages (something I hadn’t anticipated).

Well, I look forward to tomorrow with anticipation, the world will not come to an end if the complete order is not fulfilled, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to possible substitutions. I must have been very fortunate, in that respect so far this year. What unusual substituted items have you found in your order?
