Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,but is dry but cold outside here in Brackley .
Yesterday, made phone calls and Facebook messages something of interest my niece who lives in Manitoba in Canada , was going to send me some updated family photos , anyway due to lockdown postal services have stopped where she is .
My brother called although he lives in a Tier 4 area, as his postcode is the same as my on the initial first 4 , he will today be in Tier 3 thanks to postcodes worth looking into .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants, went to bed frosty, we’re on an amber warning for wind later (not excess sprouts!). We had a lovely day yesterday, DS, DD and two DC’s came for lunch and presents. I thought it would be freezing as the windows were open open for a through draught, but it was ok for three hours, GC’s played football outside, they don’t feel the cold. I slept well last night, into tier 4. Lots of bubble and squeak today with cold meat and bits. I hope there’s a decent film on as we batten down the hatches.
Have a restful day all.

Good morning all from a dry but chilly Norfolk.

Odd day yesterday but lots of zoom meetings with the family. Wasn’t quite as bad as I’d anticipated but still a sad feeling.

Thinking of starting to take trimmings down but wait to see how I feel later. DH says wait but can’t see the point of keeping them up now. Thinking fresh start towards better times.am I the only one who feels like this?

Hope everyone has a good Boxing Day.

Good morning from the High Peak. I’m still snuggled under the duvet at DD2’s.
Lovely day yesterday with DD1 family. They made a fabulous turkey dinner then we did supper. It all worked out well. Zoom with SIL’s family in the evening.
Hope today is kind to everyone. Enjoy the leftovers.

A good Boxing Day morning to all from a grey windy day in East Northants. Set for a storm this afternoon apparently.

A very enjoyable day yesterday, with lots of lovely food and drink; DD and her husband are very good cooks. Lots of turkey left over for today plus a ham and other goodies. It will be a day of not doing much, with a rugby match to watch this afternoon on tv.

Yesterday was good, lots of lovely presents - we zoomed DS and family and opened our presents together. In the afternoon DS-in-law had a Zoom get-together with his family in Northern Ireland and Vancouver, Canada. Seemed funny to see them just having their breakfast! It is my third Christmas without DH, and somehow I missed him more than ever; I managed not to shed tears in front of anyone, but there was an ache in my heart.

Still tucked up in a nice warm bed but will get up as soon as I hear people about.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Quiet day today

And as for thinking of taking trimmings down today, well, life is bad enough at the moment, so let's have a bit more light and brightness in our lives for a few days more. Mine will stay up till the 6th, or just before.

Sparklefizz Sat 26-Dec-20 08:51:24

Just popped back in to see how people got on yesterday.

NanKate your outdoor mini party sounds great, and it just goes to show how lucky we are to have Zoom and Facetime at our disposal. It really does help, doesn't it? So many of us have mentioned it.

Thanks for reminding me about the Queen's Speech from yesterday dwm .... I'll catch up with it today. Ashcombe I enjoyed your blessing too (forgot to mention it yesterday). Thank you. baubles Hope your DH is improving.

Raining here now. Think I might need to take a look in the fridge, just to see ..... er ....what might need eating up! tchblush

Happy Boxing Day everyone.

A Boxing Day good morning to you all. Nice to hear of all your festivities yesterday. We had a pleasant day that seemed to fly by. In between dog walks, FaceTimes, messages and phone calls, we didn’t seem to have time to open all our presents, so we will enjoy doing that today. We had a loud knock on the door mid morning and it was our 14yr old twin GS’s on their new electric scooters. ?. We had a quick demo of how they worked and off they sped around the neighbourhood. ?. Something else to worry about but what can you do!

This morning we are having a walk with DS and his wife, over the fields, and then back home for a lovely left overs lunch.

Nankate your outdoor party sounds so lovely. Well done you for all the effort, especially in the cold. ?.

Ashcombe I expect your piano playing brightened everyone’s day. It certainly would have mine. ?

Viridian hope Santa will bring your drill. Clever lady! ?

Sparklefiz your family get together sounds such fun. You must be made of tougher stuff than us. We stood on Ds’s Doorstep for no more than 5 minutes and we were all frozen. ?.

Wishing you all a happy, restful Boxing Day and here’s hoping everyone is feeling tickety boo, despite these trying times. ?

Good morning from the same bit of S Lanarkshire as baubles as I stayed over with my bubble family. Very windy outside for my drive home. Lovely day yesterday, my eldest daughter, SiL and my two oldest granddaughters came for an outdoor visit and we all walked for about 45 minutes, definitely too cold to stand about. Face timed all the others, lovely but chaotic! My Oban daughter and grandchildren (10 and 12) started their Christmas Day with a wet suited swim in the sea! Definitely not my genes!
Hope we all have a good Boxing Day, I'll be driving home after a late breakfast.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning everyone,

It’s a little greyer than yesterday for now but looks as if it could brighten a bit. It’s certainly breezier. When I spoke to my brother yesterday, he said we really need more bright, sunny days as the virus dislikes sunshine. To be honest, this virus seems to buck all the trends, though, and seems to thrive whatever the weather, though I suppose brighter days encourage us out into the fresh air, which is better for us.

We had a lovely day yesterday, despite restrictions. We were able to go to church for the short Christmas morning service. There were only 8 of us there in total (that included the vicar and the organist) so we were able to spread out safely. Afterwards we came home and opened some gifts then popped to our niece to deliver hers and had a quick socially distanced coffee before coming back and enjoying the rest of the day at home.

Thank goodness for technology though as we were able to send messages to friends and family and speak with others on the phone. I so wished I could have been with my brother though, who has had a bad year culminating in the death of his beloved FiL from Covid recently, to give him a big hug. He sounded very down.

I think today will be a day of not doing very much. Normally we would have headed out somewhere for a walk and a coffee, but as everywhere is closed, that won’t happen - it might be a walk around the block instead and home for coffee. ?

Well, I hope that you all have the best day possible today. It’s been nice to read what everyone has been up to. Take care and stay safe.

Morning from a raw Shirley in Surrey. Houseparty with some of my family yesterday including elderly father and stepmum, daughters and their families. brothers and one of my nephews. Was able to watch GS aged four open some of his presents. On the 24th I organised a Treasure Hunt for both GC with chocolate coins - at some stage I will count them out and post them in envelopes to the children. Lots of Zoom and houseparty yesterday so we made the best of it. Admit to feeling very envious of those who saw their families in the flesh - we're in Tier 4 for some time to come, I fear. Managed the best we could, though, as everyone did/does, had a lovely roast duck and drank a little. Leftovers today, so minimal cooking, but who is going to eat all the chocolates I bought thinking we'd have family over and/visit elderly MIL??? Hope you all have a lovely Boxing Day. As yet OH is still in bed so I'm enjoying the quiet, but I'd sooner the house was full of the noise of my little family!

Gelisajams Sat 26-Dec-20 09:11:47

Good morning from a damp breezy Morecambe Bay.
We had a very pleasant day yesterday with my friend but it was a long one, getting up early and getting back very late. Thankfully the roads were quieter than usual with very few commercial vehicles. A relaxing day today.
I may post on a different thread, I’ve got a problem which I really don’t know how to tackle. I was hoping yesterday may have sorted it but no!
Anyway I’ll catch up on yesterday shortly. Take care, stay safe everyone ?

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow. Thank you all for your kind wishes.

The whole of the Scottish mainland goes into Tier 4 today, difficult for people, especially at this time of year. DD left her handbag here yesterday, no surprise there!. The question is, does retrieving it count as essential travel? Despite all mainland Scots being the same tier, we are not allowed to cross local authorities, and we live on the border of three!

I probably had one of the most relaxed Christmas days ever, yesterday. Who would have guessed? After forty three years of running about like an eejit and trying to please everyone, I decided to go with the flow and not get stressed. It worked! A Zoom call with my wee granddaughter was the icing on the cake.
I presented my DD and SIL with the surprise wedding album, made up of informal pictures of their hastily arranged Covid wedding, they were overwhemed. ?

DS1 and his fiancée bought me wireless headphones, so that I wouldn't disturb DH during my sleepless nights. I fell asleep wearing them! ?

I'm fascinated by old and forgotten railways in our area and the history of Paisley, where I was brought up, DD managed to source two out of stock books about them, a gem of a gift.
So a restful day for me reading them today.

My long suffering DH surpassed himself and went over the top with gifts. I was in tears at his attempt to bring some joy into my life!

For all the Good morning partners in the sick bay, wishing you a gentle and as pain-free day as possible. Hoping that those with sorrow and pain manage to get through the day. Susan, you both must have had suchan awful fright. I hope next year is a better one for you.

It was great to see the lurkers posting yesterday, anyone indecisive out there, give it a go. We don't bite!

Have the best day possible and Gilly, we miss you!

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, damp corner of Somerset. Yesterday was different but very enjoyable, a full day. A slow start here, the Butler has just arrived with tea and toast which will hopefully energise me. Good to read so many people enjoyed their Christmas day, Hope today brings some smiles for us all.

Urmstongran Sat 26-Dec-20 09:46:44

Good morning everyone from South Manchester (iPad still prompts Malaga ha!) on this Boxing Day. It’s dry but cold here in our continuing T4 zone. Welcome to all of you who have joined it today (not).

A great day yesterday. Bitterly cold though and the grandchildren shrieked when they saw flakes of snow for ooh, all of 5 minutes! It was so nice for the 7 of us to spend the afternoon together & our Yorkshire lass and her partner FaceTime’d which was perfect. I don’t like Zoom.

Today is just restful and definitely a pj day for me! Himself will watch the Man. Utd game later. I’m on my second cuppa waiting for toast a marmalade to be brought in ....

?

Picky bits for us too today GG13 - lots of our favourite fridge items. Cheese coleslaw being one of them. Not calorific just plenty of vitamins I tell myself!

Hello to you dogsmother over there in Guernsey. ?. A place I’d like to visit someday. You forgot to mention the value of your ?! No wonder your poor husband feels low baubles what a lot to contend with - I hope he gets better soon. Like you Beechnut I did hope our gillybob was going to make an appearance but on thinking about it 2020 must have just been so bluddy awful maybe she’s going to post in the NY instead? I cannot imagine the heartache she must have had to contend with. I bet Evie Buttons brought her some joy though yesterday.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Shandy57 Sat 26-Dec-20 09:48:11

Good morning all, lovely to read all the different experiences people have had. I spent the day alone quite happily yesterday, both of my kids phoned me.

Daddima, my best friend bought me an Airfryer, she thinks it is marvellous. I haven't opened it yet.

This is the best Boxing Day ever for me as the hunt has been cancelled. Where I live the roads are normally jammed today with people following, I find it deplorable.

Maggiemaybe Sat 26-Dec-20 09:49:51

Good morning all from West Yorkshire (I haven’t raised the blind yet so can’t report on the weather!).

We had a lovely Christmas Day at DD1’s, just six of us. We were all provided with candy cane masks and festive hand sanitiser along with the crackers. tchgrin It was DGS6’s first Christmas and he couldn’t have reacted better, eating all his puréed turkey lunch and grinning with genuine delight at having company for once and at his presents. We had zoom and telephone calls with the rest of the family from their respective celebrations, and clever Santa seems to have found all the grandsons.

Perhaps it’s time I got out of bed now and started the Boxing Day fry up. Though perhaps if I start shuffling around and making a bit of noise DH will wake up and do it for us. tchsmile

Good morning from a dull and drizzly Black Country,

Didn't have time to pop in yesterday, as 10am we had a family video call including my Niece in Oz where it was 8pm there and Christmas was almost over for her. Then drove over to bring Mum for Christmas dinner.

We played Trivial Pursuits and a word game called Boggle. My almost 91 year old Mum beat us hands down at Boggle!!

Today we hope to go for a walk this morning to walk off the excess calories, then MrJan wants to watch Aston Villa on TV.

It will be cold meats, salad and pickles today

Sounds like you had quite an enjoyable Christmas NanKate considering. How kind of you to invite a new neighbour.

Best wishes to you all. Still thinking of you Gilly and hope you are back with us soon.

GrannyOwl5 Sat 26-Dec-20 09:57:07

Morning everyone from a bright and breezy north Kent.

A lovely day yesterday, the first we have spent with just the two of us for 45 years: two lots of Zooming meant we saw GC opening their presents from us while we opened ours from them. An excellent meal served up by the chief cook (DH) and we watched the Queen before ending the day with a games and quiz night via Zoom with DD and SiL.

Quieter day today. Plan on having a brisk walk along the seafront later this morning before the weather deteriorates. Might see DD and family this afternoon as they pass by on their walk.

Hope you all have as good a day as you can. Stay safe

Good morning everyone... BlueSapphire ?
Yesterday flew by...spoke to son and granddaughters in Oz...then daughter and family in Dubai...then took a plant to mum and dads grave...three doorstep drop offs to grandchildren here...then Christmas lunch followed by a walk....
Thinking of gilly...and wishing you all peace of mind and happiness ?

songstress60 Sat 26-Dec-20 10:01:42

I had a quiet day as I did not go to family because I am in the vulnerable group so I went for a walk in the nearest country park, and thankfully the weather was good. I rang up my family. Do not want another Christmas like this. The tv is rubbish - all animations which I hate.

GrannySomerset Sat 26-Dec-20 10:06:13

Strange but manageable day yesterday with Zoom get together with both families. Ex-DiL had compiled a family quiz which explored some of our stranger family habits and provoked genuine laughter, so that was fun. Otherwise it was it felt more like any winter Sunday, though our lovely next door neighbours surprised as on the doorstep with a bottle of fizz and four glasses for a socially distanced toast, which was marvellous.

Need to do something about the state of the oven, so might put a wet and windy day to some positive use. And then again there is always tomorrow!

Shandy57 Sat 26-Dec-20 10:07:31

Songstress60 I do recommend a smart tv, if you have broadband. Freeview offers so much choice, and if you subscribe to Netflix, even more.

Harris27 Sat 26-Dec-20 10:09:55

Had lovely Christmas Day even though was dreading it a bit. Sister came as part of our bubble and she said it had done her the world of good. Early departure for her as she drove back home and we had lovely night drinking and chocolates in front of telly. So glad we all made it. And did speak to two other sons doing their own thing but all well.
