Good morning everyone from our winter wonderland here in South Manchester! It looks beautiful. How quiet everything is when muffled by snow.

Hi to you Flicker ? I liked your reminder that this is the last Monday of 2020. I think many of us will be glad to see the back of this year although I’m with you kitty I like my soft Christmas lights too much to want to put them away. The morning of 6 January will do nicely. I’m temped to leave the comforting candle bridge light (that mum bought me) out for all January. But would that bring bad luck?

No plans here. A day to hunker down, read and possibly watch some tv if there’s owt on worth bothering with. Slim pickings overall but in fairness I don’t watch much at the bet of times - no soaps, quizzes, Strictly or cookery/homes under the hammer etc. No wonder I love reading. Actually in all honesty I don’t think I’d miss it if we didn’t have one. Himself though ....
?

Hope Monday is good to us all. Thinking of you Marydoll and gillybob as always. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good Morning everyone from a sunny South of France. Wanted to make some calls to England today regarding items bought before Christmas. Thanks to Good Morningers, have realised no chance as it’s a Bank Holiday. Never mind, hardly the most scintillating tasks. Tomorrow will do.

Snow seems to be a feature but I hope that what you do get might be pretty and powdery Christmas card stuff, falling quietly when you’re all safely indoors or walking in a country scene. No one needs to be splashed by traffic in grey slush, or trying to stay upright on slippy pavements. Stay alert, everybody. No accidents - we must strive for a happy and more carefree New Year to keep the cheer levels at their highest! ??Granpower is essential for family morale......

Whatever you do today, enjoy it - and maybe a post Christmas
slump can be an enjoyable break from having to do anything we don’t want to. Welcome Flicker, good luck with the boxes, take your time with it all. Shake off your cold soon NanKate . Be safe all of you. Warm wishes ????‍♀️???

Morning from a cold, damp south Cornwall. Lovely pic NannyJan, I love snow! Welcome Flicker. Hope the unpacking goes well.

Am taking down the decorations today cos they're in the way of the crafting I want to do. A quick bus trip to drop a birthday present to my daughter-in-law then home to continue watching Miss Marple on DVD.

I so wish I could get to my allotment but my dodgy hips say don't you dare! Ha ha. At least there's not much happening there at the moment.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Mon 28-Dec-20 09:00:13

Good morning all from a very frosty Glasgow.
The big event of the day is washing my hair! I may even tint my blonde, bushy eyebrows and cut DHs hair. He looks like Stan Laurel!

I would like to thank all those who were worried about me and messaged me yesterday, due to my short post. I was very touched. I wasn't going to post at all, but that would have led to even more speculation. ?
To be honest, I'm struggling just now, due to my deteriorating health, my semi estranged son's behaviour and the effect its all having on DH and my children.
Worrying that there will be difficulties for me being able to have the vaccine, hasn't exactly helped either. sad
Immunosuppressed and having multiple allergies, does not bode well for escaping from this incarceration anytime soon.

I wrote a long, miserable, self indulgent post ? then deleted it as there are posters with much more to contend with, than me and this should be an uplifting thread, where we support each other, not me dragging it down.
I am certainly NOT looking for sympathy, I just decided it was time to explain. Enjoy the lack of novellas while it lasts!

I have a loving family and wonderful friends, for which I am thankful, others don't have that.
You know me, I will pick myself up, find my bright side wherever it is lurking and get on with things, just not today!

I want to send my best wishes to travelsafar, whose husband was unexpectedly taken to hospital yesterday with Covid* ?

Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and all

Cold and dry here in S E Essex I intend to have a lazy morning before making a turkey
curry which will probably get portioned up and go into the freezer.

Hi Flicker ?

Keep safe, well and warm folks ???

Jaxjacky Mon 28-Dec-20 08:56:13

Welcome Flicker to GN and this gentle thread that starts the day well.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Gelisajams Mon 28-Dec-20 08:51:06

Good morning from a frosty Morecambe Bay. I looked out at half five and it was damp but now it’s frosty. DH is about to go off running, so I hope he turns back if it’s slippery underfoot. I don’t fancy a visit to A&E at the moment! I had the laziest day imaginable yesterday which included watching the Christmas Sewing Bee on the i player. Perhaps today I’ll challenge myself to do as they did and make DH a pair of pj bottoms or leisure pants in four hours. I have some suitable material I think.
Thinking of all with problems ? Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Georgesgran Mon 28-Dec-20 08:41:23

Good morning from Durham where it’s very cold and frosty.
DH has a blood test later and having it done at Hospital as our local GP Surgery is closed.
He shouldn’t be long, so I’ll just have a walk around the block while he’s in. DD1 rang yesterday to say DGS has a cold which he’s kindly given her. I think he’s donated it to me too, judging by this morning’s sneezing and nose blowing! Such a kind boy!!

Stay in, keep warm but enjoy whatever you do today. X

MawBe Mon 28-Dec-20 08:38:55

Good morning from N Bucks where it is cold, frosty and Misty. Not going anywhere, methinks.
Perhaps a day for sorting or tidying.

What a lovely picture ShropshireLass - but best viewed from bed with the second mug of tea!
Wishing you all a safe and peaceful day.

Hello and good morning everyone from a still dark and chilly looking Northampton. No rain or snow at least. Could not get comfortable in bed last night, and had a very disturbed night, sleeping on and off.

The cats are having a mad half hour chasing each other around and up and down the stairs - must be pent up energy from being cooped up in the cattery for four days! They complained vociferously all the way home in the car yesterday.

Not a lot planned for today - was going to watch a film this morning, but our local radio station is doing 4 hours of 60s music, so guess I will be listening to that, while sorting out the kitchen. Will probably watch it this afternoon instead.

The family's present to me was a fancy new coffee maker, and I have to find a place in the kitchen for it to go, so that will need a bit of time, and then setting it up trying to follow the instructions. Hope it makes good coffee after all that!

Also thinking of Maw and others this morning, and wishing them better days.

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 28-Dec-20 08:36:01

Hello Flicker . I saw your new thread and hoped you would join in today ?

Dwmxwg Mon 28-Dec-20 08:35:38

Good morning from a cold and frosty north Surrey. Another who who has slept late, think I am catching up on some bad nights pre Christmas.
Quiet day yesterday, a walk and allotment inspection,DH dug some beetroot and is going to make soup with them today.
A visit to mum and dad this morning, she has given me a list of bits and pieces they need me to bring. Then a quiet afternoon with jigsaw and will watch the last Harry Potter film (I have watched them all in order over the last couple of weeks).
Have a good day all

Shropshirelass Mon 28-Dec-20 08:34:46

Snow in Shropshire, this was about an hour ago and it is still snowing now at 8:30.

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 28-Dec-20 08:31:13

Good morning from a wintry N Hants. Just sleety rain, though, not snow. Will be going to see a Christmas light show tonight, one of the only local events not cancelled.

It’s a day to stay warm and snug, so hope everyone finds something to enjoy while snuggling up. Be careful and stay safe ?☃️

aggie Mon 28-Dec-20 08:30:14

Morning All , I am still in bed with the curtains open , it look cold but no wind
I nearly missed out on the flu jab so hope they have me on the list for the new vaccine

Greyduster Mon 28-Dec-20 08:29:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dark, grey, cold and gloomy in South Yorkshire. DD suggested they come over and do one of our local walks with us today. I wish they’d suggested it yesterday when the sun was shining. We went for a short one and everywhere is a sea of mud and standing water: the river is high and going like an express train. I have three new books demanding my attention. Hmm! What to do! Get the boots on I suppose?! Have a good safe day folks.

Lins1066 Mon 28-Dec-20 08:27:58

Good morning Mick and all. Dry but damp underfoot here on the S Welsh coast. I didn't sleep much at all last night despite fee!ing tired. It was good to get out in the dry yesterday, managed two walks and swept up all the leaves deposited by Storm Bella. It was wonderful to watch a very excited four year old opening her presents from us, her little face was a picture. Annoyingly I forgot one present so will have to post it, it's a Lego Ice cream shop which I know she will love.
Hope that everyone will have a decent day and stay safe. Special wishes to Cherry, Mr Doodle, gilly.

Gingster Mon 28-Dec-20 08:27:57

Good morning all from a chilly start here in Essex. I too hope for a little snow, Dorset cupcake. We don’t often have any, and I love to see it. Just a little , so it doesn’t cause disruption. ?. We will be walking with DS and his wife this morning, over fields and woods, so a little sprinkling would be magical.

Scentia I would love to go for a swim today but all of our pools are closed . ?. It would be just the job to brighten me up.

I was just about to have my first cuppa and as I took it into the conservatory to sit and read Gransnet, my little pooch jumped up and I dropped the cup. Fortunately it bounced on a mat but I think the dog got a bit of spray in her. She won’t come in here with me now. ?.

Have as pleasant a day as possible, keep warm and cosy. ??

Flicker Mon 28-Dec-20 08:25:15

Good morning from a beautiful frosty North East.
Perfect dog walking weather, with no cutting wind.
Lots of packing boxes still to open, so a busy day ahead! Hope everyone enjoys their last Monday of 2020.

Sparklefizz Mon 28-Dec-20 08:20:48

Good morning all from damp and dreary South Gloucestershire.

I had a broken night, which is not unusual for me, then slept late and have a Sainsbury's delivery coming shortly so need to wake myself up for the excitement of the week! smile

Sorry you have caught a cold, NanKate and hope you can shake it off quickly. I have never had a letter from Matt Hancock, dragonfly nor the Boris letter which was doing the rounds back in the Spring, nor from my doctor's surgery like friends of mine, so I am feeling totally neglected.

Stay safe everyone, and have as good a day as possible.

NannyJan53 Mon 28-Dec-20 08:20:47

I hope you recover from your cold quickly NanKate, just snuggle down and relax flowers

Jaxjacky Mon 28-Dec-20 08:19:55

Good morning all from a dark but lightening S Hants, it’s frosty but raining, it must be very cold rain, possibly sleet as the frost is still there. Seven hours straight sleep, lovely. One of us needs to venture out to get some milk, other than that no plans, I’m awaiting a Moonpig card for my DS who is 30 on Saturday, we have adopted him an animal at Marwell zoo, a crocodile monitor, he loves exotic animals and keeps snakes.
Have a gentle day all and stay safe.

kittylester Mon 28-Dec-20 08:19:45

Morning all - also from Leicestershire. It is just getting lighter here but looking very grey!!

Not a lot on here today. A couple of neighbours have already taken the decorations down but I think we need the sparkle for now!

Pittcity Mon 28-Dec-20 08:19:08

Good morning from a cold but brightening Colchester.
Wrapping up to pop to Lidl to stock up. We didn't overbuy for Christmas for the first time ever. We do have a surfeit of bread and milk, but the freezer is empty apart from fish fingers and veg.
Otherwise our usual day of nothing much...reading and TV.
