Baby words passing into everyday family parlance?

ich bindy - it's windy
heliop-pop-pop = helicopter

I still say them now...much to everyone's annoyance!

Nearly , quite close at an early age.

Stumbinmen - Dustmen
Cubunter - Cucumber
Washing mean - Washing machine
hosbedoll - hospital
Little baby cheeses - Little baby Jesus
Glubs - Gloves first heard when son recited a line from Postman Pat "Mrs Goggins has big glubs" double entendre there somewhere
Persephone - Percy phone - junior school age with that one

One son also had a friend called "Angharad" at junior school, which he managed to turn into Ann Harrold, left me wondering why he used both names until I found out what her actual name was.

bisgetti - spaghetti

DS1 said Helihopter for helicopter and sky wipers instead of Sky Scrapers.

The thing is that those words are embedded now and I probably wouldn't recognise them now.

DGS4 lives in a village called Fleckney but it will be forever known as Flickerty at our house.

Our favourite is
Gymelastics for gymnastics
Lickwickspindle for Nesqick drink.

We still use them

Luckygirl, said I’d sound pompous...but it always did / does bug me. I have a thing about children not being taught properly and still insist on saying correct words to them.
I think it comes from being teased as a small child.

Slightly off thread here, but Ashcombe has just reminded me of when my youngest went to a playdate and tea with a little friend. The mother confided in me later that my daughter had announced "when we finish eating, my mummy always says 'Thank God'"..........

dogsmother - I think you will find that these children were taught the proper words, but simply mispronounced them. I doubt whether as adults they cannot tell the difference!
