Good Morning Everyone,

Today , a normal day with the tiering unable to travel to my favourite haunts , as the cafes will be closed .
trying to stay safe by staying in and watching a repetitive of TV programmes.

Mick

Good morning all- hope you have a great day. No snow here in Warwickshire- even though it was 100% likely on the BBC weather app. Ah well, it meant I had no distractions from writing up my doctorate. Any other OWLs ( older, wiser learners) out there?

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Hello and good morning from a grey Northampton, no snow yet.

Re-arranged the kitchen yesterday to accommodate the new coffee maker I had for Christmas; not used it yet, as it seems I have no cups/mugs that fit! And the instructions are not that easy to follow.

Spent a pleasant afternoon watching Murder on the Orient Express, the John Suchet TV version, which is much darker than the cinema films. I must say I preferred it. I then watched the Royal Ballet Christmas Gala which I had recorded and enjoyed that as well. Oh, it'll be good to get back to ballet classes. And yoga, and my walking groups!

Got some washing in at the moment - and that appears to be the highlight of my day.

Oh, I forgot - all the houses in our little close had a visit from the Christmas fairy again! A bottle of Prosecco appeared on our doorsteps last Thursday, don't know who it is. Speculation is rife in the close. This is the third year - we also get a rose on Valentine's Day, and a chocolate bunny at Easter. Someone is very kind - and good at sneaking around at dead of night.....

Take care if you've got snow, and stay safe.

Marydoll. It was still so dark when I posted and I hadn’t opened the curtains. Heavy snow up here too. It’s like a winter wonderland and very pretty to look at through the window.

Alygran Tue 29-Dec-20 08:43:32

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s been snowing.
Good drive home yesterday but it was foggy on the top of the Woodhead Pass.
Managed to set up my new Amazon Echo Dot when I got home. It’s now playing gentle tunes.
Must dash as I have a shopping slot at 9.30. Will read and catch up later.
Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from an overcast, grey N Hants. Enjoyed a walk round a NT garden yesterday evening where the lights were beautiful. Such hard work setting it all up.

granMattie your quilt is stunning. I’ve only ever managed one sided quilts, and how you stitched them together so evenly, well, I just wish I had your skills.

I always welcome Netflix recommendations. I have it courtesy of my daughter, but struggle to find anything to watch as I find the amount of content overwhelming.

I really hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel for all those and their husbands who are poorly. Take care

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Dec-20 08:41:19

Good morning all from a chilly S Hants, a heavy frost and just started to drizzle, no snow ?. We seem to be getting up later and later as DH is off work this week. I enjoyed quiz night on TV yesterday, then watched the Billy Connolly ‘tribute’ he’s still amazing, I’ve seen him live twice, a very funny man. No real plans today, I have to move stuff from my old handbag to my lovely new one, either cottage pie or up the chippie tonight, the remnants of turkey, ham and b&s have been frozen. Urmstongran I too must stop, not watching the news so much as I avoid it during the day, but checking data online. Those who are poorly, or who have poorly family members hoping today brings some improvement.

(PS Beautiful quilt grandMattie. What patience!)

Good morning Mick, morning all from very snowy S Lanarkshire. On mornings like this I’m so grateful that I don’t have to be anywhere, the last time we had to be out early in the snow it took half an hour just to get out of our very small town due to cars and trucks getting stuck on hilly roads.

Your patchwork is just beautiful gM.
I’m becoming quite indolent, during the last lockdown I could honestly say that I wasn’t ever bored as I do have lots of interests. I can turn my hand to lots of crafty type things although the results are often far from perfect, however this time round I just can’t seem to summon up enthusiasm for any of it.

DH has finished the anti virals for his shingles, he seems to be doing ok one day then takes a dive the next. I expect that’s just the way it goes.

I hope everyone has as good day possible.

Good morning from a sadly-not-snowing Cornwall. I have white stuff envy! Just cold and wet here. Today I will make a cushion from my pile of preloved jeans, shop for food and sit on the Pier for some fresh air. The best of days to you all, especially those with troubles and pain.

mumofmadboys Tue 29-Dec-20 08:33:35

Good morning from Cumbria! No snow here . Not even that cold. One of our sons moved into a new flat ( rented) yesterday. Need to look through my stock if curtains to find him 3 pairs. So glad I kept them when we moved ( despite DH's protests!) We are going over tomorrow and helping him put some IKEA stuff together and taking a car load of stuff.
Today I am playing in a bridge Congress online for most of the day! I will really enjoy it but will be worn out by tonight.
Love the quilt Grandmattie. Beautiful work.
Hope everyone has the best day they can. Keep safe.

Scentia Tue 29-Dec-20 08:31:44

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is very cold.
Today I am taking DGS swimming and not much else.
I did mean to ask my GM friends if they can recommend a sewing machine for a complete beginner? I have some Christmas Money and have decided I would like one. I have never sewn before apart from by hand. Grandmattie your quilt is amazing. I have been watching the sewing bee and it has sparked my interest.
Take care everyone and stay safe, thoughts to everyone who is not feeling it and to our friends whose husbands are in hospital. Farview and vampirequeen

Juliet27 Tue 29-Dec-20 08:30:19

Morning everyone from a grey, cloudy Kent. I have only just woken but that’s because I was awake for a couple of hours during the night. At that time vampirequeen had written to say that her husband had been taken to hospital. She too is not well. Anyone heard from travelsafar? Let’s hope all recover soon.

NanKate Tue 29-Dec-20 08:18:55

Thanks Sparklefizz just low level occasional coughing and runny nose, I know too much info. ?

NannyJ. When I see DS in the distant future I will get him to show me how to attach photos. ⛩

Lins1066 Tue 29-Dec-20 08:18:53

Good morning from a dry S Welsh coast, no snow here. We finished the last of the Turkey crown yesterday, it was lovely, the only downside is no carcass to make stock, so I'm envious of Nortsat's Turkey soup, a favourite of mine.
Our seafront was packed with cars yesterday, people clearly breaking Tier 4 rules, very worrying. A walk round our quieter beach and the Common is planned for later this morning. I have a bit of ironing to do but not much else on the cards today.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Urmstongran Tue 29-Dec-20 08:16:56

Bluddy hell, it’s thick snow out there now! I just looked up from my iPad ... Sticking too, Must be a couple of inches deep already and the snow flakes are big fat ones, falling fast!

Urmstongran Tue 29-Dec-20 08:14:39

Ooh thanks for that recommendation NanKate! I will check it out tonight.

Regards the vaccine , my 88y old stepfather hasn’t heard a peep from his surgery yet 3 of his neighbours, all early 80’s have had theirs. I think a phone call to the receptionist might be a good idea today.

Greyduster Tue 29-Dec-20 08:13:04

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s snowing fit to bust in South Yorkshire and already causing problems for the traffic. I’m glad we don’t have to go out today. We had a good long walk yesterday - it does us good to push ourselves a bit, but last night my legs were killing me and I couldn’t sleep. Back to proper food today, and whatever passes for a proper routine in this house! Mind how you go, one and all.

ginny Tue 29-Dec-20 08:10:43

Good Morning all from N.Bucks.
Chilly but I’m going to wrap up and meet DD1 at a lake and have a (sd) walk and chat. Luckily she is fairly local and in the same tier. I’m quite excited.
DH is taking his mother to a hospital appointment which worries me a bit , I have explained elsewhere.
Otherwise just bits and bobs and getting on with some sort of craftwork.
grandMattie your quilt is beautiful.
Hope you all find a ? today.

kittylester Tue 29-Dec-20 08:09:19

It's snowing in DS1's bit of town too dragonfly.

Good luck with your ninja!!

Dorsetcupcake61 Tue 29-Dec-20 08:09:16

Good morning all. Still quite dark here and clouds look ominous, but suspect rain rather than snow! I'm glad I've got Netfix as some of terrestrial tv dire. That said I really enjoyed the Agatha Christie films on TV yesterday.
Stay warm and safe everyone.

dragonfly46 Tue 29-Dec-20 08:06:06

Good morning I hadn’t noticed the snow kitty I must have another look!

I am going to try and work out how to use the Ninja I got for Christmas. It is sitting in the kitchen looking at me ominously!

NannyJan53 Tue 29-Dec-20 08:05:13

Good morning from a very cold Black Country, with snow still on the ground.

DD sent video clips of DGD's sledging yesterday at the park in their village. Then photo's of the snowman they had made. Wish I could have been with them, but the roads were treacherous here.

45 years ago today I became a Mum for the first time! My DS's birthday today, and it is so hard to believe all that time has past. Cannot go over to spend some time with him as it is a long way to go to stand outside.

I think you should post a photo of your art work one day NanKate I am sure it is far better than you think!

I think I will get my jab end of Feb/beginning of March (hopefully). Mum has had her letter telling her they will contact her soon.

Wishing you all a safe day

kittylester Tue 29-Dec-20 08:04:21

Update from North Leicestershire- we have snow - it's fairly wet so won't stick but at least we have some!!

Marydoll Tue 29-Dec-20 08:03:26

Good morning all. from a pretty cold Glasgow, where its -2°C.
Kalu, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the snow or is it only in that micro climate I live in ?

I had trouble getting to sleep and was then woken at 4am by a beeping noise. I eventually got up to find out what it was. DH said he could hear nothing, that I was imagining it. After trailing through the whole house, I eventually traced it to DH's man cave. He has been footering about with his PC for days. Instead of dealing with the noise, he turned over and promptly fell asleep. He is for it, this morning, I can assure you! ?

I plan to do all the things I didn't get done yesterday, due to DH transferring money a few days ago to the wrong account and then locking himself out of our bank account. He was totally unphased by it all and didn't seem to understand the seriousness of it all. I eventually managed to find where the money was and sort things. Today, WE will sort out enhanced online banking, so that he doesn't do this again.
DH used to be very sharp and on the ball, but recently he hasn't been his usual self and I know its not all down to lockdown. I'm sure some of you will understand what my concerns are and why I am worried.

There seem to be a fair number of Gransnetters with very ill partners and I'm sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery and the strength to deal with it. For all our Goodmorningers, who are struggling, virtual hugs.

Finally a warm welcome to all the newbies, I seem to have lost track! ?
