Maybe you should get this checked for your own peace of mind. Do you know what your heart rate is? (I can't do the maths on 16 million!). And is it beating in a regular pattern?

I think you've got your calculations a bit wrong there!

Is he on any heart medication that might make a difference?

Do you use the blood pressure machine after him? Some of them remember the readings of the previous user and this might affect the results.

Do you have anxiety? My heart rate is always faster than my DH's but his often sits just over 50, which is very slow. It might be nothing major but it's worth checking with the doctor. How fast is fast?

Now I'm worried about my heart rate- there's a column on the side giving me links to Bradycardia, Atrial Fibrulation Symptoms, Tachycardia and lots of other stuff. I think I'm OK. Well I was when I started reading this. Now I need to take my pulse....

I think my lowish heart rate of about 49/50 (bradycardia) is probably 30 lower than my dh. I had a quick look at dr Google today as I do get out of breath when walking uphill, but am generally reasonably fit, I hope!

For a minute I thought I was dead there! I checked my pulse but couldn’t find it. ? Then I realised I had my arm bent in an awkward way, restricting the blood flow. Normal now resumed and my pulse is 60. I’ve no idea if that’s good or bad.

Esspee don’t you have regular testings for hypertension?
I have had to take medication for it for over 20 years, so you are doing well if you don’t need it.
See your GP as soon as you can to put your mind at rest.

70’s or 80’s is good.

My resting heart rate is on the high side of normal at 90-95 and my BP is 120 / 80. I take a shedload of meds to keep the BP low and steady, it’s a long story so I won’t go into it here but a higher heart rate isn’t always a problem.

The pulse reading varies from day to day and of course once rested/ relaxed it can be anything from 60 to 100.
I wouldn't worry about it being low unless you have any symptoms, as a low pulse means that the heart doesn't have to labour in order to function as normal.

Athletic types have low resting blood pressure because their hearts are in good shape.

I was once quite happy ticking over at 72 continuously but once put on Bisoprolol it dropped to 50/55 so as not to put too much strain on the heart but it took some getting used to as I felt I couldn't function the same without the extra oomph. Though it was this " extra oomph " that was sending my blood-pressure up. Couldn't win

I don’t understand. Why are you concerned if your resting heart beat is at the low end of normal and you’re reasonably fit and healthy?

They are now saying we should take our blood pressure in both arms, not just one, as it varies. Also I believe a woman’s bp can be different to a mans.

Athletes have very low resting heart beats.

An athlete's resting heart rate may be considered low when compared to the general population. A young, healthy athlete may have a heart rate of 30 to 40 bpm. That's likely because exercise strengthens the heart muscle. It allows it to pump a greater amount of blood with each heartbeat.

It's a good sign in some people.

Blossoming......only because mine seems low in comparison with others. I really have no idea whether this is normal or not as I’ve never been ill or had any serious illness or concerns.

I'm a cardiac Physiologist normal Heart rate is between 60 - 100 approx but a lot of people have resting HR 50 ish and some over 100 bpm, that is normal for them. A lot of electronic devices don't always record correctly. We tell patient don't bother.
Do old fashion way, at wrist or from side of your neck, count for 30 sec and double it. Sleep rate can be as low as in 40's.
Others are right Meds and AF make a difference. If your concerned seek advise from your GP.
