GrandMattie thank you for telling me. What a wonderful and brave little girl. What a brave and loving family ❤️

Daddima

Good morning all from the cold and frosty fells. It is so nice to see so many considerate people observing the recommendations. This was the fells yesterday ( I didn’t take the pic, I stole it from FB)

Another planless day, I’m not even making my exciting trip to the bin yet as the ground is treacherous. I think there may be a bag of de-icing salt in the ‘high cupboard’. All go, isn’t it?

De-icing salt found, road to bin negotiated, but bin lids are frozen shut, so back to the warm kitchen. Marydoll I’m glad you’re feeling a wee bit better. I’m sure there’s lots of wobbling going on, there definitely is here! It seems the fells made The Sun today, because of the aforementioned eejits ignoring the recommendations.

( I stole that from FB as well, in case you think I’ve become a Sun reader!)

LauraNorder, we have no idea. The February operation is the last for the moment. Iris was born with a genetic condition called “neurofibromatosis”. It causes tumours at any nerve ending - brain, skin, bone, eyes... For the moment, “all” she has is bone disease and minor skin tumours.
Who knows what the future holds for the poor little girl? We can only hope that this is all she will have.

Just popped back to say that I have spring cleaned my PM's (in/out) so if you have that horrible messsage deleted at senders request it's nothing personal ???

Blossoming Wed 30-Dec-20 13:13:27

Just popped in for a quick catch-up, wonderful news about Iris. Stay safe and warm all.

Good morning from a very frosty and slippers underfoot West York's .was going to have a walk today but due to weather stuck in again hope all test results are good ones for them having them .Think most people have wobbles and low moods at times sending hugs to those feeling like that . Let's hope vaccine is rolled out soon .

Morning all from a brightening South Notts. The snow from yesterday has largely disappeared, thank goodness, I dread having to go out in it.

I must remind myself what day it is at the moment as each one floats by with little to distinguish one from t'other.

Good news from the sock department - I've finally finished one long knee-high sock. I had to add a bit more to the single ribbing at the top as it was shorter than I required so it's not as neat as I'd like but no matter - it's wearable. So, just one more to go and I'll actually have a pair. At last.

Good news about little Iris hope she continues to progress. Lovely quilt Grandmattie I think it adds a another dimension to a quilt now that we do fancy backs which weren't too common when I first started quilting decades ago.
Hope today is kind to those with worries or illness.

Good morning from a snowy north. Heard the snowplough going past about 6. It was quite beautiful watching the snow fall gently in the dark. Many Christmas lights are on overnight so I enjoyed a peaceful cup of tea and tried to think of nothing but the moment. I am talking to the family about when we might have a very late Christmas when we are all together, as a way of looking forward. My AC go back to work in a few days and are already receiving emails about even more precautions and dividing the workforce into groups and creating a shift work set up to help keep folks safe. I’ve turned into a hermit who speaks too much when someone phones!
Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from dry, dull but wind free Anglesey.
Great news about Iris, grandMattie, will the February operation be the last for her?
Glad your grandson is on the mend Annsixty, I’m sure he’ll be glad to be at home today.
Wishing strength to all of you going through awful times, pain and hurt, quite a lot of our friends on here suffering with covid, very worrying for you all.
Good luck BlueSapphire, Urms and others facing blood tests and treatments.
Enjoy the snow from indoors everybody, the last thing we need is to slip and break bones.
Great news on the Oxford vaccine, my sleeve is rolled up and ready. Hopefully we’ll all be cuddling our grandchildren by summer, not long to go.
Be safe everyone, a brighter future is coming.

Susan56 Wed 30-Dec-20 11:03:10

Great news that your grandson is coming home today Ann.He has been very lucky, such a relief for you all.

Hope your appointments go well BlueSapphire and Urms.I have a couple of appointments next week and am anxious about attending so totally understand how you are feeling.

Mapleleaf Wed 30-Dec-20 10:54:08

Good morning all,

It's a very frosty day, but most of the snow has disappeared now, with just little bits lying in the shady corners of the garden.

Lovely news about Iris, grandMattie. She's doing so well.

More sorting through old papers again today - some go back years! It should result in a bit more storage space once they have been weeded out and shredded.

Hope you all have the best day possible, despite all the difficulties we are faced with.

Taichinan Wed 30-Dec-20 10:49:15

Good luck with your appointment too Urms.

annsixty Wed 30-Dec-20 10:47:17

Good morning all.
Thank you all for your good wishes for my GS.
He is doing ok now and will be home later today as he has no physical injuries apart from bruises and glazes.
He hurt both his knees one of which was dodgy after a serious football injury when he was 16, which also put him in hospital, he must like it there,
I cannot believe how lucky he has been not to be more seriously affected.
He is in a hospital where several wards are dedicated to COVID patients so they want people out as soon as possible.
One worry relieved, several to go.
I know from phone calls just how so many of us are experiencing mental health problems.
Please God let us soon have better news about the situation.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 30-Dec-20 10:40:42

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it was so foggy when I got up a couple of hours ago it was impossible to see anything further than the train station across the road!

I’m off to an appointment with our practice nurse this afternoon BlueSapphire and I’m anxious already. I shall remain so for the next few days and hope my phone doesn’t ring tomorrow or too soon with the results of several blood tests. Some are routine MOT but a couple are not.

Anyhoo. Great that you’ll be sewing school trousers for Iris grandMattie I bet she can’t wait to see her friends and they her! Happy birthday to Mr.Scentia today.

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Great news about the Oxford vaccine isn’t it? Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Taichinan Wed 30-Dec-20 10:40:25

Good morning all from a beautiful winter's day on the Angus coast. Mick, so glad your cousin and you have 'found each other' on Facebook - it can be such a good way of keeping in touch. Delighted that Iris is doing so well - and in only four weeks as well! Oh the wonders of medical science and the resilience of children. Bluesapphire good luck with your hospital visit today ??. Marydoll so sorry to hear you've been feeling down, but good that you can vent a little on here. You have so much to bear.
Loving the descriptions of all the lovely sunrises around the country today. Just as the sun rose here it reflected off a beautiful full moon in a clear blue sky - so pretty. When you see such beauty it's difficult to believe that that foul Covid is lurking out there. Good to hear that another vaccine has been approved. Congratulations to Winifred and Mr Win on receiving their first dose - I think you're the first on here, unless I've missed something?
Annsixty I didn't read through the posts properly until bedtime and was so sorry to hear of your DGS's accident - though glad also to hear that he improved so quickly. I hope all is well now and he can return home ?
There is a more optimistic feeling to today's posts. I just wish New Year to be behind us and we can slip back into the all too familiar routines of lockdown. I've got myself a Tesco slot for Jan 11th and I'm pretty sure I can live out of fridge and freezer 'til then - and there are two rather large boxes of chocolates eyeing me from the corner of the garden room! One way or another, I'll be well fed!
Have a decent day everyone ????

hollysteers Wed 30-Dec-20 10:39:15

Good morning Mick and all from Chilly Chambers, northwest coast. I’m glad you made contact with your cousin. I find it fascinating to follow my relatives and see the familiar family likenesses in the younger generations.
Last night I went to bed much earlier (dropping off in the chair anyway...) as I am going to try to keep to more of a morning regime than of late and stop reading and watching films until the small hours.
So after reading a page of The Daily Reader for Contemplative Living, exercises, letter writing and a brisk walk. I need some order in the vaguest period of my life.
Very pleased with my turkey soup. I effectively stopped proper cooking when my husband died and had forgotten how satisfying it is to have a large pan simmering away and good smells permeating the house.
I’m waiting for my 19 year old granddaughter to ring back. She wanted to come over on Boxing Day from another tier and my daughter put her off. It’s not a nice feeling.
I will return to read all your doings later and in the meantime, thoughts to the troubled.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 30-Dec-20 10:20:44

Good morning from a very chilly Harrogate
I woke up at silly o clock this am and thought if only I had the password for GN on my phone, I could have been early for once!! After I thought about it a bit, I checked the time and two hours had disappeared!! DH is going this am to have his first COVID vac - I shall go with him just to find out how the site works, it's n The Great Yorkshire Showground where it's very easy to get lost.
Normally this week I would be frantic baking and shopping for my Welcome party on January 1st getting all the neighbours in, pity there are some new ones so would be good to have a chance to get to know them
My next door neighbour had a picture on facebook with her family on Xmas day, the picture was of 14 adults and children. She lives on her own and she told me she is vulnerable!! Mind you she's told me all sorts!!
Marydoll please look after yourself. Ashcomb I feel your disappointment. GrandMattie wee Iris sounds like a right little trouper!!
Enjoy the day the best you can.

Auntieflo Wed 30-Dec-20 10:15:58

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It is very cold and frosty here in our bit of Berks, but beautifully sunny.
We had to be up early, for us anyway, as we had a Freecycler coming for a collection. So now I am all showered, dressed, hair done and nowhere to go!
I think I may begin to clear away the decorations, not that we had many up this year, and look through all our cards again.
The binmen are a day late this week, and I have thrown out the last of the turkey. Just couldn't face anymore, and tomorrow I shall be cross with myself, as I usually love left over turkey soup.
Hoping that Marydoll is feeling better, although I know she misses not being able to get out and about to the shops.
Great news about Iris and her recovery from surgery.
Wishing you all a lovely day, and stay safe one and all.

Grandmafrench Wed 30-Dec-20 10:10:58

Welcome Winifred do tell us where you are, and about the weather so we can locate you in our ‘mental maps’. Lewie are you new...or have I not been paying attention? You take care on those steps Grammaretto ?

Grammaretto Wed 30-Dec-20 09:59:22

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we still have snow on the ground. Since no-one calls I haven't cleared the steps. (I'll probably regret that)
Great news about little Iris's progress gMattie You must be so happy.
I slept late after a night full of strange dreams including showing DGS how to use a nit comb! he has rather long hair

Alygran I love your sunset and good news of a vaccine soon. Have as best a day as you can everyone.

grandMattie Wed 30-Dec-20 09:58:41

“Grandmafrench*, it IS only 5 minutes since Iris had the op. On 30th November! She’s come on so much in this short time...
