Hot water bottle!

I love my hot water bottles always had two, one top, one for feet (cold house and always felt the cold in my feet ) two in the winter, one for the feet in the summer
This Christmas my friend bought me a heated throw for my Christmas present so I still have my hot water bottles but when I get up at 4 for the loo I pop my throw on for the last couple of hours and I must say it’s something I didn’t know I needed but it’s rather nice not to go downstairs to put the kettle on and refill my bottles

I love my electric pad and wouldn’t be without it. I also use it when watching TV when my feet get cold.

It is also a great source of comfort for aches and pains.

I remember my grandparents had an electric pad in the late 40s early 50s, which they swore by, and used it for stiff joints etc. as well as for bed warming. I would estimate it was about 18” x 12” and covered in a cosy brown fabric. I was not allowed to use it in case “something went wrong”, which it never did. It lasted for years and was obviously worth every penny to them, and they still retained it after they graduated to electric blankets.

I have an electric heat pad, its wonderful on sore, stiff joints. It was recommended by a physiotherapist.

Take your hottie to the bathroom with you as you know it will be cold by then. Empty it & refill it before you return?

Keep a kettle in your room and reheat the water?

I have a mattress topper which once warmed up with my body and the hot water bottle, my bed is like toast when I return after a trip to the loo. Many people would not like how hot it becomes but I have a 15 tog duvet and love it.

You can get electric blankets that heat in sections so you could just have the lower part on.

Have you got a cover on your hottie? I find that mine stays warm throughout the night with its cover on. I actually walk around the house with mine if it’s really cold!

I’ve tried bedrocks and, unfortunately, they made no difference. My extremities are so cold - my uncle, upon touching my hands as a child, once said to me “ You’re dead, if you only had the wit to lie down!”

Try one of those gel filled hotties that you heat in the microwave. I had one before onset of the menopause. They stay hotter for longer than regular hot water bottles.

I have had an electric heat pad for sometime. A good size one. When I very badly hurt my back last year (turnted out it was a spinal stress fracture), this - along with strong pain killers) gave me great relief. It went everywhere with me for a a few months, even took it on a train and plugged it in so I could keep it on my back.

It has a safety feature that means it turns itself off after a set time, so at night I was quite comfortable with having it on whilst I fell asleep.

Bedsocks ? They make a difference you know.
